Fire Keith Smart

Yes, it's that time of the year. The annual fire our coach thread.

Honestly though, how ridiculous is this? Our offense if straight up GARBAGE, our defense while improved a little bit is still pretty terrible. I sill see players not rotating, not fighting through picks. Offense?? iso iso iso, feed it to Chuck Hayes at the top of the key, run around, iso. Sub rotations are garbage. This guy had a full offseason. Not impressed. Our owners are broke and can't afford a good coach. Honestly, 7 years of this crap. From top to bottom it's sad what this organization has become. Garbage.

Too early?

With this offense Kings are 2-10 at best after 12 games, easiest part of the schedule this season, guys will stop defending and you are deep in the lottery again.

This is surprisingly not early. He's making the same mistakes as last season; horrible rotations with ridiculous minute distribution. But it's easy to just say fire him, it's another thing for the Maloofs to pay up for a good coach, let alone if any want to come to Sacramento.

Unless there is a good replacement, I will ride this one out. Smart has improved the defense, and firing him would probably ruin the team even more, and end any chance of a Reke/Cuz future.

It'll get better, don't know how much but they'll tighten up. I just wish this franchise looked like it had more of a plan in every single area of it's existence.

He's a third tier coach

First Tier - Popovich, Carlisle, Brooks etc.

Second Tier - Some of the retread coaches, McHale, etc.

Third Tier - then you just have the low paid, unheard of guys that you wonder how they became employed

I'm not saying that because of this season. He's had a good preseason and was on the road against two decent teams. I would have told you this before the season started. Not ready to fire him, hopefully he can still do something with this roster

i dont think you could even find a coach in the world that would distribute the minutes worse. so yes. FIRE HIM NOW before the team is 1-15 and its too late

I hope that everyone realizes that if we let Smart go we are likely to hire a 4th tier coach because we have no money.

As soon as I started watching the game I kept thinking how boring this team looks. While they did show a spark in the third quarter they just don't look like they know what they are doing or that they even care very much. Heres to hoping things get better. But this is the year this team should be competing for playoffs. This is the year Cousins should be exploding in this league. Instead they look just like last year only worse. What was with all this work they were supposedly doing in the off season?

You embarrass me Kings fans.

The team shot poorly and the guards were giving up way too much penetration. On top of that, the team is yet again the dumbest team in the league. It would be hard to find a quality coach that would want to coach such a poorly assembled squad of players.

Nope. I mean, not now. That would be dumb. I'm assuming this thread is somewhat in jest.

If this keeps up, sure, fire him. But this isn't all on him. If you believe it is then you are letting these players totally get away with how they are playing. There is no logical guy on this coaching staff who can take over if you fire him at all, let alone this early.

It's not fun right now, but you HAVE to ride this thing out further. If our best player were able to give us anything in these two games both of them could have been wins.

Kind of pointless thread at this point guys. Remember we just gave this guy another year extension BEFORE the season even began. At the rate he's going, Geoff will give him a third year by Thanksgiving, and a fourth by Christmas. He's cheap, and he talks a good game, which when you're as dim as the Maloofs is all that its ever taken to spin your head. So he's here. We'd likely blow up the team and trade all our young talent and not so talent away before we'd admit failure with our 2mil a year coaching investment.

Better to just hope for improvement, and maybe send Smart a letter or two explaining some basketball and coaching basics to him. He's what we've got. The players will have to redeem us and themselves. There is no coaching savior riding over the horizon, and if there was we'd be too dumb to notice and too broke to do anything about it.

You should probably coordinate the effort to send this letter with some simple offensive scheme and rotation chart! :) I remember some english public-owned soccer club had a stint of fans selecting starting lineup which given only 3 substitions basically means rotation. Let's do the same! :p

This team should not be broke. We have revenue sharing remember? We have the greatest sponsorship ever remember. If they want to sell tickets they are going to have to do better than this.

he is just blatantly moronic. if the team isnt doing so well he makes a 5 player substitution and leaves some of the starters on the bench for a whole quarter. its unbearable to watch. same crap as last year. i have absolutely NO FAITH for this team as long as Smart is in control

the Kings just need to leave Sacramento..it's obvious the Magoofs are trolling us until the people of Sacramento would just let them leave..they want to go to a big market? let them..otherwise we'll have to endure stuff like this on an annual basis..

No he hasn't. He improved the defense a little over his own NBA worst defense last year. He didn't improve it from what we had under Westy.

plain and simple, if the Kings come out and play like they did tonight again tomorrow and Smart continues to throw lineups out there like its preseason. fire his *** the minute the game ends.

Can't fire Smart at this point.

However, upon landing in Sac early Sun morning, Petrie should demand he come straight to his office and have a little sit down, and make clear how this philosophy won't work.

That's our hope I think for the time being. Petrie has to sit him down as say, WTF are you doing? This is how we're going to fix this.

#25
^well that would be fine too. petrie needs to sit down and tell him, look man, 8 or 9 man rotation, no more benching all 5 starters at the same time, no more playing scrubs when the game counts. no more idiotic rotations and start working on some freaking half court offense for god sake or your gone.

the coaching staff cant figure it out and the players are not gonna know what to do it really is a shame and the talent that we could bleed because of this is unbearable.....it does not make me happy but i will continue to watch of course i may become a raging drunk because of it
Yay team GO KINGS!!!!!!! Im gonna get drunk and buy a new sleep train mattress for all my passing out LOL

#28
i will continue to watch too because NBA is my life and the Kings are my team. but i will NOT spend a dollar on tickets untill the coach gets his head out of his *** or he is shown the door

Other thing is no decent coach takes over a team mid season. If we were to fire Smart during the season, I'm nominating Petrie as the replacement. I'd like him to demonstrate just how he saw this talent fitting when he acquired all of it.

You mean we can't just bake Sloan some cookies and ask him nicely to come coach for us?
