Petrie and Cooper meeting with Ryan Anderson

I"m almost positive I heard that in the CBA agreement they came to at the end of the lock-out they agreed that this year's cap could not be lower than last year. And since it was a shortened season the expectations were that revenue would indeed be down, which means that this year's cap would be exactly the same as last year's cap.
Now if for some crazy reason revenue was up for the shortened season, then the cap would go up, it just can't go down this year.
I wonder if they would pro-rate it. I'm curious what happened the last time they played a shortened season, and how it affected the cap.

Wouldn't option #5 be to front-load RA and back-load JT? Even then getting rid of Salmons/Garcia would probably be a good move to free up money for both (easier said than done).
Well, it wouldn't help much. I'd expect that JT's contract will likely be backloaded by default. Even the "frontloaded" contract we might offer Anderson can only decrease by 4.5% per season, which is pretty small. In essence, I expect that JT's contract would start around 6M, and Anderson's contract would start around $8-9M. Regardless of the front/back-loading after that, we'd need to have the cap space to make both offers, and right now we don't.

Jason Jones ‏@mr_jasonjones To repeat, Ryan Anderson has not agreed to a formal offer sheet with the Kings. To make the kind of offer that ... http://sulia.com/c/sacramento-kings/f/ec702efe-f3f1-4faa-ac32-d39177d6d18d/?source=twitter
This makes me think that the Kings know they can't get both. If they renounce JT and give a big offer to RA, Orlando can match, no matter how big their offer is- and it's not a bad bet that Orlando would want to keep him, Dwight or no. With JT the Kings know there is at least a guarantee that we can keep him rather than get stuck with nothing. So even if the front office wants RA over JT, the smart bet is probably that we'll keep JT just to avoid losing him for nothing.

How about this guys.... Sign Anderson... Sign and trade Jason Thompson + something to Philly for Iggy...

Evans/IT
Thorton/Salmons/Jimmer
Iggy/Twill
Ryan/Trob
Cousins/Whiteside

JT gets to go back home, so he's happy. Philly gets a solid young hometown big man they are happy. We get a defensive athletic SF who no longer is required to be a 3pt specialist with the addition of Ryan Anderson. Also it would be pretty cool to have T.Will backing up Iggy or even have them on the court at the same time... Yeah we lose JT...but we have Robinson who is projected to do much of the same thing, but better... so we aren't necessarily losing an element to our team. We would be gaining outside shooting, defense, athleticism, and play making. What say you guys?
I say hell yes. This would make me one happy Kings fan. That said...as a Kings fan, I'm pessimistic it happens, but I would absolutely be on board with this. I'm a little iffy as others are about losing our known, decent backup C, so we would be certainly taking a gamble on Whiteside developing enough to really be worth the #2 C position. But I don't think I even care, that team makes me a lot happier than what we put out last year.

Jesus Christ! We just find a way to **** this up every single year!

Anderson is overrated and I am willing to bet that his efficiency plummets if he is not paired with a dominant big man. Luckily for us we have such a player but c'mon now. Who the **** plays back up C?!

This front office just does not get it! No wonder we are the laughing stock of the NBA. This is beyond a joke now.

Whoa....settle down. Anderson LED the NBA in 3 pointers made last year at nearly a 40% clip....all while being a pretty good rebounder as well. We struggled in outside shooting last year. We need a guy like this to open up the floor. It's not like we are pursuing Chuck Hayes and Outlaw again. I can't believe how many people are getting all upset about the possibility of losing JT.

Poorish rebounder, just to correct. Amongst qualified players, 50th in the league in rebs/48, right in between Shawn Marion and Matt Barnes at 11.5/per 48. JT was 36th at 12.8/per 48. Cousisin was 3rd at 17.3/per 48. You take off the "qualified" filter and Ryan was 109th, which was 2 spots behind Yi Jianlin. And no, playing alongside Howard isn't much of an excuse given that JT played alongside Cousins. He's just a tweener, and a perimeter oriented tweener.

Won't argue the 3pt shooting, other than to note of course it was a freak offense he was in. An offense which notably completely failed over the years to take advantage of the best center of his generation, and instead went for junkball. Dwight has behaved like a complete douche, but in a lot of ways Orlando deserved to lose him after completely wasting him. Let's not do the same with Cuz.

I don't think I chimed in here.. I do NOT want any part of Anderson unless we cannot sign JT. In that case I would rather grab Kaman. We have no use for a 3pt shooting big unless we are going out there with Evans, Williams, Salmons as our starting PG/SG/SF.

If all we had was JT and Cousins I would do it, because we know what we have in JT, but if it's Robinson, JT, Cousins then I don't feel like we shoul dhave to grab Anderson only to start him over Robinson for however many years he's in Sac.

Think we will be involved?
Hmm. Not sure what the asking prIce would be. If it was something like Hayes and Jimmer I would bite.... But I can't help but feel like Marcus would be involved in some way, in which case I would really have to think about it.

Obviously, if it is any deal involving Evans I would lose my mind.

I am a big JT fan but Anderson vs JT is no contest imo... Anderson is one of the best shooting big men in the NBA. Pairing him with Cousins/TRob and maybe Whiteside would be awesome imo.

Rob Hennigan...you are feeling very sleepy...

When I snap my fingers, you will wake up and build a John Salmons shrine in your living room...

Other than adding trob is this team n e better than last yr.
Yes if they sign JT and TWill with TWill being the less essential. They will have added a year of experience and go into a season with a coach who at the least has some direction in mind, agree with it or not. Young teams gain experience and at this point, our most important player will benefit from another year and perhaps Tyreke's role will be sorted out. The confusion of last year may not exist this year and all that makes us better.

I would have gladly traded Hayes, Salmons, and their favorite of Whiteside/Honeycutt in return for Anderson + Turkolgu.
Yes but then we would not need JT as he would create confusion at another position. We are inefficient in our signing of players and signing two to play the same position is simply a replay of what we have done at other positions.
