Lowry talk heating up .. Kings in the mix (ESPN)

Hmmm, LA if rumors are true, want a top 5 pick and are hot after MKG, and would deal Gasol for the pick.

Reke/Gasol/Cuz could work if we had defensive minded starters at SF and PG. I wouldn't be that high on Gasol, but I'd consider it. With our current roster it might not make much sense but if we added defensive guys around Reke/Gasol/Cuz I'd think that'd be a decent option.

Just something I'd consider given the rumors. Pau is a pretty damn good defender and would prevent the second big from doubling Cuz or helping on an attacking Reke. But with those three we couldn't have a PG or SF looking for shots.

I've previously stated my case for Gasol, pros and cons and won't regurgitate all of it again. But basically, his contract is about equal to our SF quartet of Salmons/Cisco/Outlaw/Donte who provide nothing. Gasol would give us much more bang for our buck, Cuz likes him and his leadership would be of value. Good passer, good defender, can hit open shot, etc..

It would certainly make AK more likely to sign.

I don't see Gasol as a leader; he was Mr. Defference in LA. And I know they have Kobe, but still. The guy didn't exactly show himself to be a warrior lately. I just worry that if Odom, who went from the championship Lakers to Dallas and then fell off the cliff, what then would Gasol do when they send him to Nome, Alaska?

My guess is that has some to do with Kobe, and some to do with Brown not have a flipping clue how to use him and having his sit outside the paint all season. Not saying he's the best leader, but I do think he is a pretty good leader if you take someone like Kobe out of the mix and would be considerably better than anyone in our locker room.

Just like I'd say Pippen had leadership qualities but MJ was always the top alpha dog and overshadowed what Pippen brought to the table some of the time. Not to say Pippen is Gasol or vise versa, but it's hard to show you're a leader when playing with the most dominant figure of your generation.

Vlade wasn't some renowned leader when traded here, but he definitely stabilized our locker room.

Pau ain't keeping up with no Kardashians. My guess is he would love playing next to a C who can pass to him like Cuz can and would be ready to show the fakers that they gave up on him too soon.

I don't know. How much of leader was Gasol in Memphis before he went to the Lakers?

Ok now Houston has 12,16,18 and Lowry

Saw earlier that Kings wanted 14,16 plus young cheap talent from Houston

12,16 and Lowry for kings # 5 , no way they give up that much for the 5 pick

But 12 may get someting Kings want

So I think 12,16 and Patterson
or 12,18 and Moiejunas

Having that 12 instead of 14 might make the difference

Houstion still has Lowry and #16 to trade with 6,7,8th pick teams'

Discussions about any offers out there could go on right up until the 4th pick is announced tomorrow.

I can hardly wait until the draft is here. Then we can move on to debates about what we did and then free agency starts and we can follow all those rumors. ;)

Its funny going to the Rockets boards and them thinking they should Cousins if they're going to trade any of they're guys. Saying idiotic offers like "lowry + brockman for #5 pick" "Lowry, 12th and 16th for Cousins". Wow.

It looks like we rejected Lowry + #16 for Hayes + #5.

Good, I don't like that trade, not enough for a 5th pick. If MKG is gone, and they are willing to add #12, well, I could consider it.
Make that #16 the #12 instead and things get interesting -- remember we are shedding Hayes' contract in the deal too, which frankly is a surprise given the general thought that the rockets are trying to clear cap room to make the Howard trade.

kings are not taking lowry or giving up reke or big cuz
kings want two of the 12,16,18
and probably one young player

question is which young player and which of the two picks

they offer 16,18 and Patterson

kings want 12,16 and Motiejunas

my geuss if kings do trade down they will demand Motie, 12 , and 18

since Motie was no 20 last yr, thats 12,18 and a 20 for a 5 pick

omg we get rid of the mistake of hayes and get kyle lowry?? I would have done it but i guess if we can get 12 it would be better. then pick up Garnett lol. Hey quick question. Terrance Williams isn't on the free agent list. Do we have him for another year?

Uhm You act like Lowry is a throw in. He would be the best PG we have had here for years.

BTW, Geoff has been doing this a long time, but I wish I had more confidence in our decisionmaking at this point than I do. There is a way to play this, to say no to that offer but to intimate that just a little more will make it, to hold the offer open until the second you see MKG go off the board, then close it. Geoff knows these things. But I don't trust our instincts at all at this point.

Here's the thing, PG is not a position of huge need for us, BUT stud defender absolutely is. If MKG is off the board to stiffen our SF defense, then Lowry could stiffen our PG defense, and if paired with Reke could finally give us one of the most physical backcourts in the league. I don't care how, but I want, and we need, to come out of this draft with at least ONE stud defender, and I'm not picky whether its a draft pick or a guy we trade for. If we find a second defender with a pick coming back to us with Lowry, then all the better.

That's probably around the mark for me as well. If you substitute #12 for #16 and Hayes for Salmons then I am all in.

At 12 I reckon we go with Henson if still available. Just the feeling I get.

no I was just suprized because prior proposals showed Lawry picks for 5 and Reke

I got the impression that Lawry and Reke was not on the table anymore and it was about 2 picks and a young player

I thought Lowry and one pick was going to go to a lower top ten

I guess Houston thought 12 and 18 would be enough to get Warriors pick

I think this is getting closer. Houston just needs to probably go Lowry, #12 & Motiejunas and they can have the #5 and Hayes. I'm starting to get the idea that MKG is not going to be there at #5. I don't think Petrie is in love with Barnes and would prefer to take Lillard if MKG is gone. But if it's Lillard against Lowry, I go Lowry all day long and smile over getting the backup big man and rookie prospect.

Again, if MKG is gone. If he's there, you take him and go to work on trades to clean up the glut of useless swingmen.
