MKG, Barnes, Beal, Robinson all done with working out.

People are going to believe what they want to believe. There are bandwagon posters just like there are bandwagon fans. Find a cause, and jump on! If you oppose that cause, your swimming upstream.. Right now its fashionable to believe that the Kings are the armpit of the world, and of course, no one wants to visit an armpit. And while there is probably some truth to that, I say, who the hell cares? If anyone thinks that Petrie, and his cohorts don't know who the best players are, then I have some swamp land I want to sell you. Whether the player the Kings have at the top of their list comes in for a workout or not, and he's available, guess what? He'll be drafted by the Kings! So, Petrie will get the player he wants regardless of the politics that may have occured prior to the draft.

However, if you all want to sit aroung and ***** slap yourselves over how unpopular a place Sacramento is, have at it. Personally, I find it a little boring, and in the final analysis, irrelevant to the outcome.
It's taken a few days for me to find this post but, voila!, I have. Agree completely. Your same logic applies to many other subjects and issues on here.

I am not discouraged by the Kings draft situation at all. Sacramento is a great place for an NBA player to come and play and live as it always has been. I think we all like visiting places like SF, LA, New Yourk but not as many of us want to live there. The Maloofs, they will either get better at what they are doing of fail. I'm not going to sit around and worry much about it. Some want Petrie to go but I believe he is one of the best GMs in the league. Smart is no where near as bad as most on this site believe.Tyreke and Salmons aren't all bad either. Sitting and watching a game at Arco isn't bad either. Subscribing to the Bee and enjoying Voison and Jones hasn't hurt me a bit. Some afternoons I get to lister to Grant's show if he's talking about the Kings - when he's done with his rants I enjoy it. I even think the Lakers are not bad - they have played some of the most interesting and enjoyable games against the Kings, more thanb any other team, over my 27 years as fan. With my record I almost qualify as not being a member of KingsFans.com.

Have a great Kings draft and summer of team building.

Okay

Let's just hope it works out a lot better.
Houston trades Kyle Lowry, picks #14 and #16
Sac town trades Chuck Hayes and pick #5

Kings draft Moe Harkless and Terrence Jones

K. Lowry/ IT
Tyreke/ Thorton
Harkless/ Honeycutt
Thompson/ Terrence Jones
Cousins/ Whiteside

That way Maloofs don't have to spend any money, cuzz you know they won't anyway!

In a perfect world we would amnesty salmons because garcia would only be one more year (team option after this year) and BUY FREAKIN' BATUM

K. Lowry/ IT
Tyreke/ Thorton
Batum/ Harkless/ Honeycutt
Thompson/ Terrence Jones/ Outlaw
Cousins/ Whiteside

I was impressed with honeycutt in his limited minutes, and whiteside has shown some splashes.

Tried for Terrence

http://espn.go.com/blog/truehoop/post/_/id/46492/rockets-set-sights-on-moving-up-in-draft

Henson has already worked out for the Kings and Harkless is scheduled to work out on Monday. Sacramento has also tried to get several other candidates for the middle of the first round, including UConn’s Jeremy Lamb and Washington’s Terrence Ross, into town for 11th-hour workouts.

They have tried to bring in T. Ross.....you were right.

Smells like a trade down job to me!

I would be very surprised if we kept pick 5! I just hope we don't screw it up with trading down like we did last draft night! Hopefully we come out laughing for a change!

EDIT: I should preface this by saying that the following only applies if MKG is off the board. If he's there, you thank the basketball gods and take him, because he's pretty much a perfect fit. He'll be one of the best defenders in the NBA, which is exactly what we need.

To be completely honest, I don't mind trading down in this draft as long as it's worth it. I'm delighted to hear that both Harkless and Moultrie will be in for workouts as I'm a big fan of both. Harkless is very athletic and talented, he could easily turn out to be a top 5 player from the draft in a few years. He is also a two way player, with the potential to be a very good defender. Ideal size for SF and a very good athlete. Looking at his interviews, he has the personality and confidence that all the stars have. He's clearly switched on, very intelligent. Maybe it doesn't mean anything, but I'm always more confident about such people developing into stars than the guys who sound like they have peanuts between their eyes. Harkless is also one of the youngest players in the draft.

Nearly all of the same goes for Moultrie. He's smart and confident and even though he's maybe not an ideal fit next to Cousins, I think he could be a very good player. He's got size, very good athleticism, and is skilled. To be honest, the only reason these guys aren't projected higher is that they didn't go to big schools. Maybe a fair criticism, maybe not. I'd go with the latter. Either way, I'd be very happy if we traded down and took either of these guys. Particularly Harkless, but also Moultrie. Somehow come out of this with both guys and it's a very productive draft day, but that won't happen.

Things have gotten really bad if we're viewed with such disdain. This draft is going to be very interesting. I have a sick feeling in my stomach that it's going to be just as head-scratchingly bad as last year, though. Really can't see us keeping the pick considering the only guy we've worked out in that range is Drummond, and from the rumours swirling around, we won't be taking him. Lillard seems more likely, but that can't happen without at least one significant other trade going down.

If MKG is there, I take him regardless of what he wants. Anyone else, and I'm open to trading down, depending on the details of the trade.

One beautiful thing about drafting a player is that they cannot refuse to come. If they do refuse, they cannot play elsewhere other than overseas.......right? :(
I believe they can sit out the entire year which means the team loses their draft rights. However, that is simply not going to happen. If we take a player and they cause a fuss, we will either trade them or force them to play.

I really don't believe there is anything in this other than competitive pride, once Brad Beal and his agent shut down the teams outside the top 4, these other guys did the same.

It's just a "marketing" ploy.

Not only Barnes, but Drummond as well. So here's the theory: Warriors believe Portland takes Lillard, so one of Barnes, Drummond is available at #7.

Drummond worked out with anyone that wanted him though :p 7 of the top 8 i belive (hornets being the only one who didnt and he wanted to work out for them to)

I think Drummond Slides Big time

I haven't finished the thought: i think, Warriors wanted to decide whether to trade the pick in the rumoured deal with Houston or get one of the two who will be left.

i think MKG falls to us. I just watched the nba draft lottery special on nbatv and they have barnes going at#4. They said barnes and irving are best friends. You have to believe that they want to please irving by drafting barnes.

From reports, Cleveland do seem to be leaning towards Barnes. I hope that's the case, although personally I think they'll take MKG. I do hope I'm wrong though.

If MKG falls to us, I hope we do the right thing and take him. I'm very nervous that we'll trade out of that spot even if he's there. We haven't worked him out, and I haven't heard anything about the Kings liking him. Common sense should prevail, but I'm not so sure it will...

I personally think that Cavs will trade up to pick 2 and pick Beal in which case I think Washington pick MKG and the lolcats pick Robinson at 4 and get another first round pick in the process.

This leaves Barnes at 5. I wouldn't mind the pick under proviso that Thornton is traded to address other needs.

I still say that there is 98% chance that we will trade pick 5.

That would be worst case scenario for us. I think Barnes will be a good player, but isn't a perfect fit. If I KNEW we could move some guards for pieces that fit, I'd probably take Lillard over him. But that's putting a lot of pressure on GP to get multiple trades spot on, and I don't think that will happen.

I tend to agree that we'll trade down. Just hope we don't do it if MKG is there. I'd prefer to keep the pick, but it seems unlikely given the guys we've worked out.

If we find ourselves in a scenario where MKG is gone and we haven't managed to work out a trade in time, I would lean towards just crossing your fingers and picking Drummond. With Drummond you have several options:

1) Keep him and pray he'll develop into something good
2) Continue to work a trade with Houston (on the basis that Orlando wants Drummond and Houston wants Dwight)
3) See if any of the other teams are interested in him and see what we can get for him

I think that this is a better alternative to picking Lillard and then being forced into making some moves. Any time that you're forced to sell you're going to end up selling low, which is exactly what will happen with us being forced to move a guard. Teams can easily lowball us and our choice would be accept it or live with a massive logjam of guards.

Or maybe I'd just pick Barnes and live with him at SF. But I would not pick Lillard, unless I already have a good deal in place to ship out one or more of the guards.

You know, I kinda like your line of thinking. Houston is in real deep right now, considering they have 3 first round picks in the teens. If they don't give us EVERYTHING we want in the deal, then why not put some serious pressure on them, by breaking off talks with them, and taking Drummond, throwing their entire plan into upheaval. One of two things will happen....

1. They come back at us with an offer that we are more than happy to accept.

2. They are absolutely furious and refuse to deal with us ever again.

I'm cool with either scenario, because even if it's the 2nd scenario, we still have Drummond who probably has the biggest upside of ANY player in the draft. Yes, it's an extremely risky tactic, but I really like it. Sometimes you need to roll the dice and hope for the best. I honestly think we could back Houston into a big time corner, and come out with #14, #16, Daly, maybe another good player, plus force Houston to take Salmons.

I'm worried about the trade. Char just shipped out their SF in Maggette and brought in Gordon. Might be maneuvering for MKG/Barnes. In fact, putting a scorer like Gordon next to MKG would make some sense for them.

But they're also rumors tonight that Char will trade the pick, so who knows.

The Kings players have some very good ties to this draft class. Jason Thompson and his family are close with Michael Kidd-Gilchrist. The Evans family has ties to both Kidd-Gilchrist and Dion Waiters. Both of these players have worked with Lamont Peterson, Tyreke's trainer. The ties go deeper with Kidd-Gilchrist.

6-7 teams have had talks with Kings about the 5th pick that go beyond usal "would you move pick?" talk, per Geoff Petrie.
