KJ in Vegas meeting with George right now? 4-20-2012

KJ is in Vegas right now meeting with the Maloofs according to Grant and verified by Eric Rose (Maloof SoCal spokesperson).

He went unannounced!?!? That is a lot of balls man!! Mayor Johnson has more guts than than the brothers combined. Plus he has the integrity to reach out, because I don't think the Maloofs would do any outreach to the mayor and he knows that.

A Maloof spokesman confirmed the meeting. Eric Rose said the mayor showed up this afternoon unannounced at the Palms Hotel. "George graciously accepted his meeting," Rose said. "They are meeting right now."

I'm sure the taxpayers had to foot the bill for that plane trip, but the good news is that George was able to foot the lunch bill:

...inbetween his shifts.

unfortunately from what I have heard you basically can't as he screens out anybody who challenged him and/or just hangs up on them. 'Fraid the internet has to remain the palace of resistance.

For me if KJ pulls it off to continue with getting the project back on track I say that’s a good thing. The main thing I would like is to keep the King’s in Sacramento for many years. Let’s see what happen’s.

I'm surprised George met with him if he showed up unannounced. It just seems either rude of KJ or we don't have the complete story. Anyway, the two meeting alone or with one staffer seems to be the way to go. I think this makes it easier for George who isn't used to speaking in front of crowds and as much as I would like George to be uncomfortable in many fiendish ways, I think we want him calm and dealing with issues one by one. Resolving issues one by one would be wonderful also. I can think of many explanations for him blowing his stack in ambush interviews or in a presser even if called by himself. This is not his arena (pun intended) or perhaps domain is a better word for him to operate in. We want KJ and George to have a pleasant working relationship because the result could be wonderful for all.

I wonder if George is in such a horrible mood that he cannot see the great possibilities that lay before him - like the disbursement of money from the rich to the poor. That is not a small deal and seems to be something he forgot. There is also the issue of spending money to make money. I don't know exactly how money is divided up if a team makes the playoffs but it certainly can't be bad. The Kings are ramped up and ready to go into the playoffs if money was spent properly. We seem to be on the start of an era that could make the playoffs next year and start a string of playoff appearances that could go on a decade. That's worth money.

That of course assumes something that hasn't happened in a long time and that is the hiring of a competent coach and paying for good free agents, if possible, or maybe simply being sure we don't lose the talent we have.

Good luck to KJ and George. I am tired of my emotions being jerked back and forth. :)

turned on the radio, and i swear i heard from grant that adrienne maloof is representing us at the draft lottery? Anyone else hear that?

I wonder why they didn't go with KJ again?

I really wanted the Kings to get the first pick, not just for Davis, but for the Stern and Maloof ackward hand shake.

ive noticed that. Some people call in with a detailed phone call and point out every single mistake of the maloofs with proof to back it up and after listening to the caller make complete sense grant simply says "thanks for the call lets move on" and when someone calls in to praise the maloofs he interacts and has a good time, if someone is against the maloofs but cant think stright he lets them on air and proceeds to rip them to shreds.

I think most smart sports fans just got a headache and stopped calling this dude. if the maloofs are out i hope he goes with them.

He basically said KJ is going back to the maloofs because the city needs them more than they need the city......yeah its amazing how he overlooks the fact that KJ was the bigger man after the goofs came out in the paper and acted like five year olds and said they wouldnt talk to him.

KJ probably went to tell them that we're going ahead with the arena without them, and to ask them if they're willing to commit as a tenant with a signed lease. Seriously, I doubt he went there to suck up. He probably has some kind of proposal he wants to run by the Maloofs.

I have every faith in Kevin Johnson. If he's in Vegas and talking to George Maloof, it's because he (KJ) believes there is a possibility of salvaging this deal and putting the project back on track. As far as George Maloof "graciously" agreeing to meet with him, I doubt if George knows the meaning of the word.

I think it's pretty telling that KJ is flying out to Vegas to have a meeting on this and not the other way around. (Especially considering that this concerns, you know, a basketball arena and basketball team located in Sacramento) Sure George, it's the city that's backing out on this deal. Just keep saying it and maybe it will become true.

What better way to show utter contempt for the fans of the Sacramento Kings? When I first heard that, I almost wanted us to lose the lottery just so I don't have to see a Maloof smile. I'm just so sick of their nonsense.

I'm not sure it could have been "the other way around." According to report I heard the mayor flew to Las Vegas without notice and without formal invitation to meet Georgie. Once on the ground and apparently via text KJ said let Junior know he was in Vegas - and then he got a quick invite to meet.
