Kings to sign Terrence Williams to a 10-Day contract.

Hmm.. don't know much about Williams' game. I just remember him being able to fill up the stat sheet.
How many players do we have listed at the SF position now? Williams, Greene, Garcia, Salmons, Outlaw, Honeycutt, Evans. That's more than half the roster.

I never had the feeling that he'd be a star in the NBA, but I certainly thought he'd be SOMETHING. Right now, he's nothing .. but I think there is still something to be found here. Look what Gerald Green has been doing in New Jersey. Careers can be saved.

If he wasn't such a clown, I'd love the move. But because he is a clown .. I still think its fine. 10 Days, whatever, I think he has talent ... so good on the Kings for finally doing something.

On the flip side ... maybe this means Evans injury is a bit more serious? Even though I herd reports that Evans was going to play tonight ... it is an odd signing just because we have a slew of misfit small forwards on this roster already.

ALL things considered, I'll take him over Outlaw.

So what was he doing before we picked him up? He just ran out of his rookie contract and didn't get picked up by the Rockets? Oversea?
Heh, well, it was already discussed in the personnel section, but the thng with Williams is I thought he looked promising as a rookie, and then he killed his career wiht immatue stupiity. I'm not at all sure we need anymore immature stupidity at this point, but there was roleplayer talent there once.

No one has ever denyed Williams talent. But what he has between his ears has been questioned quite a bit. He's his own worse enemy. But, I have no objection to giving him a look on a ten day. Personally I've always thought of him as more of a SG than a SF, simply because of his size. At 6'6" he has great size at the SG position, but is just another athletic undersized SF. Frankly, I'm a little tired of undersized anything. But hey, we're not going anywhere anyway, so what the hell, why not?

One of the additonal drawbacks to Nellieball is just how much it trashes your roster by the time you finally have to fire the smallball coach. Meanwhile you've stripped your team of the ability to compete and are undersized at almost every position so whoever takes over next is facing a midget roster unprepared to win serious basketball games.

That said at least Williams is atheltic and physical.

Maybe I'm alone here, but I don't like this. How about we concentrate on playing our young guys AT their natural positions and try to get something somewhat resembling a legit NBA rotation before giving a chance to another mediocre wing.

If Smart will bench Cisco/Salmons/Outlaw, and ride the youngsters, then, and only then do I not mind this. But put me in the group that wants Reke back at guard, Donte at SF, and Honeycutt getting a little time before letting this kid come in and get a chance instead. And if I'm alone in that group, I'm more than fine with it.

If they're no minutes for Reke at guard, or Donte at SF, or Honeycutt to get 5 mins a game, don't bring in another freaking wing.

Two questions for anybody who may know Williams' game:

1. Can he defend?

2. Can he shoot the three?

and a bonus question:

Can he pass/play within the flow of an offense?

I don't really know Williams' game, but I'm ok with this move. Low risk, we can take a look of a player who has talent, especially now that we have Reke and Cisco out.

no to all unfortunately:

He's another one of those crazy athletic young guards who think they're a lot better than they really are. He has all the capability in the world to be a great NBA player, but he's been a headcase on every team he's been on

Dunno.

Not by the numbers, no.

Well, he was essentially a point-forward for Louisville, so that's probably within his skillset. His assists/minute have dropped off as he's gotten less PT the last few years, but I guess that might be to be expected.

I'm not entirely psyched that we picked up a guy that has essentially worn out his welcome on two different teams, but hopefully it works out. At any rate it looks like a low-risk move and if he turns out to be disruptive in the locker room he'll be kicked to the curb immediately, so I don't think it can hurt too much in the worst case.

Being a West Virginia fan I had the opportunity to watch him play at Louisville a lot, and his defense i'm sure is solid at the pro level but don't know to much about. He never really had to shoot the 3 in college so can't say much about that but I am sure he can hit the open 3...His vision is very good, more of a point forward if you will. He's quick and could play three positions really. I think it is his head that is a question.

You're not alone.

T-Will is just another body for Smart to throw into his random rotations. It would not shock me to see him play the PF spot.

Maybe getting cut will buy him some brains.

Strangely though, with a few exceptions, we've been notably good at turning "head cases" into productive citizens. Webber, Bonzi, Artest, Cousins, Jim Jackson. Maybe it's the quiet life, maybe it's the Ray Allen River.
