What is the point of this post?

I would like to see Garcia and Hayes start next game for IT and JT. Garcia has been very, very good tonight. Hayes is looking like his old self ... and his defense is a lot less valuable on the bench.

I have no problem letting the bench close this one. Show the starters that they need to play with intensity and hustle the entire time they're on the floor. You can blame lineups and substitutions all you want, but it's going to be a matter of consistent defensive effort to right our struggles on that end of the floor from everyone.

lol sorry but 11 minutes in a quarter is long enough to get your rythm, and you don't have to have played a long time to be able to play defense.
Keep laughing if you think jimmer/cisco/salmons/donte/hayes gives us the best chance to close the game. Why does every other coach almost always reinsert his starters? At least one or two of them?

But I guess you;re right, the bench crew just closed it out phenomenally. Well done.

They actually scored enough and defended well enough that if the starters hadn't gotten them into a 20 point hole they would've won the game dude.

It's more of an add-on of the narrative of many of the themes constantly talked about on this forum. Our starters sit in favor of a bench that Smart rides too hard. I shouldn't have to explain it much past that
It's clear to anyone who knows the game. No explanation needed.

The starters were really, really , really bad. The bench was really good. If the starters had played like the Lakers starters then there would be a complaint. Kings fans are funny.

Lulz...Just checked out the free throw disparity.

Its like a retro Kings/Lakers game!

Or any ;post season elimination Lakers game!

That's ridiculous. The Lakers let up, sat their starters, and thought they had this in the bag. Our bench goes on a run, LA reinserts the starters, and LA comfortably closes the game out. Happens all the time. Do you not remember when we used to be up 20 and would start playing sloppy like we didn't care?

Handed to them or not you still sprinkle them back in as the 4th quarter progresses starting with cuz and working them all back maybe leave one hot sub out their, I hope this doesn't effect our starters confidence as it clearly shows the level of faith our coach has in our starters to be able to bounce back and close it out

In response to my last post, I don't care how bad the starters were tonight. Your 2 best players who are the face of your franchise should NEVER EVER log 20 mins each in a game unless foul trouble or injury.

Yeah the starters played no defense and took some bad shots, then we get down by 20 and people are surprised they get pulled. These guys aren't the Celtics starters of the last few years or the Spurs starters, they're not that good. They're not the lakers starters. THey're starting on a team that has 12 wins and when you start on a team that has 12 wins you better play well or you might not play. These guys aren't established vets and they're not superstars. So when they don't play D and they start playing selfishly, and the bench plays unselfishly and tries hard, Smart's got to give those guys a chance.

Reke, Thorton and Cousins should have been immediately subbed in as soon as our bench got it within 5. Horrible job by Smart tonight in the end of the 4th.

I'll just take this time to remind folks of the Wizards game where Cousins and Evans told Smart to keep subs in because they were playing well. The subs may not all be on Smart here.

That's entirely different, LA inserted their starters back in there because they were losing their lead. THey pulled the guys who weren't playing well. BTW the main starter they had on the bench was Kobe, Bynum and Gasol were still out there when the bench was doing work. They still pretty much kept pace with the Lakers, even vs their starters.

btw thought you were going to chart how well the bench did and how they were going to dig us a hole for the starters to have to get us out of. How'd that work out eh? Wouldn't mind seeing that chart.

starters were matadors defensively. Garcia and Salmons both brought defensive intensity. Jimmer was nice in the 4th quarter. Our 3 gaurd lineup showing its defensive weaknesses. Starting Garcia for Thornton is the way to go. Garcia plays intense man and team defense. Tyreke, Thornton and Thomas are not good team defenders at this point.

Reke/MT/Cuz all should have been brought back in. Three best players should always be brought back in.
why? None of those guys played defense tonight and played selfish one-on-one basketball in the 3rd (thus why we were down by 20)

The bench played their hearts out, shared the ball, and flat out looked like they wanted to be on the court on both ends. I have no problem letting them finish out this game

So Cisco and Jimmer and Salmons were all playing well and playing pretty good D, getting steals and stuff, and your plan is to bench them for 2 guys who didn't really play D? I'll give you Cuz because Donte wasn't playing very well shooting was and having a post presence would've helped, but Reke and MT23 need to play D to stay on the floor.

So should they just start?
