Romo was throwing to at Revis to a hobbled receiver the whole game its amazing he didn't have 5 more picks.

I heard Keading and Castillo are done on the Pats forums.

Do you get Red Zone? I usually just watch that if one of my teams isn't on since I don't have satellite. All the scores from all the games. Easy way to keep up with the day.

I have no dog in the hunt, but I really think Alex was the victim of a lousy coaching situation.

He may finally have the guy that can do him right. I don't think he deserves another chance but I feel pretty confident that had the 9ers drafted Rodgers instead they'd have done a perfectly fine job ruining his career.
He absolutely was. I don't think he has the stuff, and I doubt he suddenly turns into a good quarterback, but it doesn't help having five different coordinators in five years. Niners front office screwed their #1 draft pick, which is why they all got fired.

Yesterday was a decent day of football. Unfortunately for me the two games they televised early; Pit/Bal & Chi/ATL were blowouts. It was great to see Baltimore finally give it to Pittsburgh and hit em hard in the mouth with that running game. McKennie did a hell of a job blocking and that might turn out to be a solid pick up for the Ravens. I don't know what Big Ben was doing throwing the ball twice to Ed Reed with no one in sight, interesting.

Atlanta was just dominated by that stiffling Bears defense. The Texans have three formidable backs, that's going to be huge if they plan on making a playoff run. Depth is big and we will see how their defense fares against a better offense.

While I give credit for Cam Newton having a hell of a rookie debut, he has to buy Patrick Peterson and the Arizona secondary a buffet or something for making him look like a HOF in his first game.

Unfortunately for the Chargers they had a couple of injuries in yesterdays game and two of them could be out for the year in Keading and Castillo. Tolbert got banged up too.

Giants look awful, but I guess you can give them a pass because they are really hurt in that secondary with them missing key players on the defensive side of the ball.

Lastly, that Cowboys Jets game sure was a fun one to watch! back and forth scoring, don't know what Romo was thinking in the end there throwing the ball perfectly to Revis. None the less, entertaining game.
Yes, absolutely HORRIBLE that the Chargers lost Kaeding and Castillo. But at least they're off to a decent start this year, even though the first half of the game was just plain hard to watch.

As bad as that injury news is, I kinda feel worse for Rams fans, losing just about their entire offense yesterday. Not sure how serious any of those injuries are though

PS pdx, cannot WAIT for the Chargers-Pats game Sunday. Those 2 always play entertaining games. I just hope both teams show up

SeaBass with 63 yard NFL tieing record longest FG as half ends! Saints Tom Dempsey's 63 yarder in (I think 1970) was a game winner as clock expired. Raiders and Broncos in at times rain soaked slug fest, penalties up the yazoo, 16-3 Oaktown lead going to 3rd Q in Denver thin air.

That's a wrap for Week one. Only watched one half of the Pats Fins game but saw enough to know Miami wasn't going to have an answer for Mr. Brady, who does? Incredible performance. That Raiders Denver game is always entertaining to watch, at least for me. McFadden is such a beast and he needs to get some love for a top 10 back. He is so versatile, love watching him play one of my fav. players in the league. A 63 yard field goal? Holy crap that's unheard of! That Janikowski has one hell of a leg, incredible how fun opening week one was fun to watch. Hope to have more like these in the upcoming weeks.

Broncos fans booing Orton and calling for Tebow are idiots. I'm not sure what it is going to take to divorce me from that team once and for all since I'm nearing 20 years with the Pats now but if this keeps up I think I can safely wash my hands without feeling an ounce of guilt.

Same sort of people who were calling for Carr in SF last year.
Perhaps - were they booing the 9ers QB while he was marching them downfield in the rain with no running game to speak of and an offensive line that thought they were matadors? ugggh.

Don't abandon them because of their idiot fans. If that were the standard, I wouldn't be a Colts fan, not with all the idiocy of the past three years.

Here's the real deal, when I was a kid I wanted "my own team" (ie, not the 9ers) and wound up picking Denver because my mom had gone to Stanford and I liked Elway. When I moved to Boston I actually had a home team I could root for (they went 2-14 the first year I was there and believe it or not I do like the underdogs :)). So Elway retired but I still liked Shanny, Shanny got fired but they got an NE coach... then they drafted Tebow in what I can only fathom was to pander to a certain fan base centered around Colorado Springs, fired the NE guy and basically turned into a team I have absolutely zero connection with. Except Elway is back as VP of some sort and I want to root for him.

I've always felt kinda shady rooting for two teams so right now is really testing me. Know what I'm saying?

Yeah, I get it. I just think the fans don't represent the team, especially with its current leadership. I think the Tebow Experiment will be short-lived, even if they do give him the reins for a short while. But Fox and Elway are smarter than the fans, obviously, and won't let the inmates run the asylum. I expect Denver to be pretty good in a couple years, and all the Tebow fans won't even be on the radar anymore.

We will see. I'm not really particularly in love with Fox, was hoping they could land Harbaugh, get a little Stanford connection going. But I'm giving it a chance. I did stick through the whole game even though I DVR'd it.

I'm not that high on John Fox, but I think he's a better head coach than McDaniels. And I like that he didn't get caught up in TebowMania (almost) and has stuck with Orton.

John Fox is 21 years older than McDaniels. I suspect that in 10 or 15 years McDaniels could be a better head coach, unfortunately at 32/33 he just wasn't ready. Hopefully he learned from his time in Denver and getting knocked down a few pegs will give him some humility and he'll learn to play nicely with others.

I beg to differ. The Niners have a record of maximizing good talent, as evidenced by Joe Montana and Steve Young. I firmly believe Rodgers would have done quite nicely with the 49ers if we had given him the nod instead of Smith. Unfortunately it seems that fair quarterbacks falter and fail in SF, as evidenced by Smith and Jeff Garcia. :)

I don't think Bill Walsh will be walking into their locker room anytime soon. Seifert either for that matter.

eta: I guess that really applies to 5 years ago. Harbaugh might be able to squeeze something out of him if its not too late. Point is that you can't go back 20-30 years when the organization has turned over 3 times since then and since they canned Mooch pretty much hit rock bottom as far as coaching went.

It's San Francisco. They might well be able to channel Bill Walsh. :p

I hear what you're saying. But at my advanced age, I cling to the glory of the past, denying the unfortunate truth of the present status of affairs.

I still mourn the loss of Eddie deBartolo. His departure was the beginning of the end. I had hopes for Jed York, but I'm not sure if those are actual hopes or just more pipe dreams.

If the top of the organization has the right approach to the game and the team, anything is possible. They have some good talent on the team. I think Harbaugh is a good coach but I just have no faith at all left in Alex Smith.

Mike Nolan and a group of idiots running the show from up top would have ruined Rodgers too. Do you remember Rodgers' throwing motion coming out of college? Who in the hell from the 9ers 6 years ago would have helped in that regard? Plus, Rodgers would have been thrown directly into the fire with a team that had no talent.

Tough loss for the Niners.

Alex once again was more of a positive for the team than a negative. The O-Line, however, needs significant work and the secondary (missing 2 out of four starters, however) dropped the ball.

Tom Brady looks to be giving 2007 a run for its money. I think I am developing a secondary man-crush on Gronkowski though. I lost count of how many times I exclaimed "You just got Gronk'd" today. All with a sleeping toddler who I very much did not want to wake next to me.

He's a great player, but he's not the greatest. That offensive line doesn't get nearly enough credit as they deserve. Brady can sit back there and enjoy a 3 course meal before even getting touched in the 2 games so far this season.

As dominating as the offense was yesterday, they showed that they're beatable. If San Diego can get over their turnover woes (which they seemingly cannot), they would have been in a great position to win. 3 turnovers in the red zone (1 on downs, 4 turnovers total) just isn't gonna cut it against an offense like that.

First off let me preface by saying I don't think they win it all this year. The defense is still a work in progress and the offense will slow down when the weather dips. But I do find it humorous when people discount the bend-dont-break defense BB puts together as if the turnovers and red zone stops just happen by magic and not design.

As for GOAT, I really don't care one way or another. He has surpassed Elway as my favorite QB and he's in the discussion. Manning's woes have opened the door for him to make up for his own lost season at a minimum, though in truth if Manning had played this season I think his career winning % would have dipped.

This might sound funny to you if you haven't watched the Colts first two games, but the team is improved in several respects this season compared to last, when they won 10 games. First of all, they had 20 players on IR last year, and they lost three games in the middle of the season due to interceptions, games that would have had them as the #1 seed in the AFC. They got players back healthy, they improved the offensive and defensive lines, the backs and receivers are still good... With Manning, the Colts would still be a top team in the AFC, I have no doubt.

The Chiefs, Colts and Seahawks look destined to be in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. More so the Chiefs than anyone else, that team is god awful.

Chiefs problems aren't at quarterback. I don't think Cassell is an all-star or anything but that team has foundational problems that start with the nutjob calling the plays. They will ruin Luck's career if they draft him and don't make changes.

Supes, I'll just take your word, its a moot point.

Agreed, but I'd say the same about the Panthers, one year after taking Jimmy Clausen. If they had the #1, it wouldn't surprise me if they took a quarterback. And since they have someone serviceable in front of him, the rookie wouldn't have to play right away. But Haley is definitely on thin ice.

It really is. I just don't think they're as bad as people assume they are. They're not good, obviously, but the hoopla before the season about how they didn't do anything to get better and what-not was overplayed, if you ask me. The team still has weaknesses outside of quarterback, but from watching them in the first two weeks, I don't think the team is as hopeless outside of Manning as others do. Still won't win a lot of games...

Bills 3-0? what the hell is going on....Vick hurt once again, what a damn shame for the Eagles fans. Concussion one week, broken hand the next. Next week he will probably tear an ACL or MCL. Vikings are ridiculous, each game they had the lead, they were up 20-0 on Detroit and cough the game up in the end, they need to start the rookie soon and just face rebuilding. Texans had a great chance to beat NO and in usual Texans fashion, lose it in the end.

What a great trickery play on a punt return by the Bears at the end of that game. Unfortunately, phantom holding penalty called back the TD.

Not impressed with San Diego or Rivers this year. Mathews looks great but that's about it. Oakland looks like the team to beat in the AFC West..
