Kings Fans Bee Ad

#95
I'm not sure how big of a sponsor Jiggy was, but I don't think people here who donated care if the kingsfans logo is on there or not...then again, I didn't donate.

I'm cool with Mike going with his, but I would recommend that he pushes the lettering over...its way too close to the border on the right side.
I like yours because you made the picture smaller which allowed more words. More words is better in this case, I think. Plus I like how you spaced it out. It just looks tight and clean.

yeah i noticed that it was aligned too far to the right also, but i just thought i was being too picky. oh well im off to bed. im sure the ad is in good hands and eager to see the completed ad in the morning.

Didn't actually make the picture smaller, just got rid of the sponsored by at the bottom. But I could do that and keep the sponsors if jiffy paid that much into it.

Agreed about moving it to the left... actually in retrospect I like the font contrast, size, and the background on clash4u's better. We already acknowledge Here We Stay, and if Jiffy Lube's contribution is small it seems better to use the space for our message. This is a message from the fans after all!

Yeah, I don't see the point of putting who its sponsored by unless the people who paid specifically requested that.

It was advised we don't use the background logo because it will make it too busy and it probably won't look as clear when it's printed unlike how we see it online.

*shrug*

If they say so...brother works for the city of Davis as a graphic designer and he said "there's enough contrast, by far" to make it stand out and clear. But if that's what the Bee says then it's cool.

I'm not the biggest fan of the CAP FONT for the entire letter. I think it stands out better when you can cap the important stuff, like SACRAMENTO KINGS, HERE WE STAY, etc.

But it looks good.

It's okay, they paid for it and he's gotta submit it ASAP, instead of having me add the sponsors in it. I think it will go over ok, although I'm afraid of what it will look like when converted into a 1/4 page ad. Either way, I'll look for it this Sunday!

I want to take the time to thank everyone for their feedback and support.

To be honest, I have not had much sleep in the last few weeks for all the things that go on in my life from work to my private life to working on things to save our Kings.

I had completely forgot that my wife knew how to use Photoshop. Not that this matters, but I almost forgot to review scholarship applications from my students and today was the deadline. I had that sitting in my e-mail for a few weeks and it just slipped my mind until today. My mind is mostly on networking with folks and doing what I can to help support the cause to save our Kings.

Not too many folks know, but my original idea was to film a documentary on why we need a new arena in Sacramento. I had already spent quite a bit of money to fly out to Los Angeles (and attend a few Kings games there) last December to film Staples Center and its surrounding area along with buying a Cannon HD camera and other equipment for it. We were also going to film in San Francisco (AT&T Ballpark), San Jose and other locations.

Unfortunately I thought we were in the 5th inning but it turned out that we were headed to the 9th inning so that idea was scrapped.

There is also going to be an article in the New York Times and it should be published this Sunday.

Yours truly was interviewed for it and I pushed for KingsFans.com to be mentioned, but we'll see how that goes.

Again thank you to everyone and I hope there are no hard feelings. I am very proud of how we have all come together with a common goal: To save our SACRAMENTO KINGS.

P.S. I still really think the font should be changed from non-capital letters for the whole thing (SINCE WHO WANTS TO READ IT WHEN ITS LIKE THIS! PAY ATTENTION TO ME I'M WRITTING IN CAPS!), but I know Mike is tired so I'll let it go, heh ;)

I'm sorry that I missed out on this discussion. I'm an extreme perfectionist when it comes to this sort of thing. Let's just say that I'm much happier now with the personal message from the fans appealing to the Maloofs. Thanks to everybody who gave their input!

The last "Mike version" is a done deal right? Thanks for all that went into it.

I'd have advocated for more anonymity and less "advertising" (I don't see the need for any of the "sponsored by" stuff... I'd have 'let them wonder' but what's done is done. Getting all tied up in a Jiffy Lube endorsement is just a little off the mark to me but if that is what it took to get the ad financed then I guess it is fine.

The ad copy is great - I really appreciate your work on that Mike - and overall organization.

Hall of Famer
KF.com donated $1000 out of the $1500 and Jiffy Lube $250. KF.com got last billing. I will never understand that and I am taking a shot at whoever came up with the first ad. Whoever it was didn't like us or was simply an idiot. Man, I have a way with words. :)

Anyway, this group can get things done. I don't know what it takes to get ya'll turned on but I'd like to figure it out and use it. We are the best. We are the most intelligent. We are the most musical. We apparently have the most money or maybe it's just volume.

I will write to the Chicago Tribune and see what we can get done there. I guess that's in between my trying to find addresses to the owners but I'm a better writer than anything (except being a lover, of course). If we can get articles in New York and Chicago, well, I'm not sure how it helps us but at least it will be done.

The area needs money to make it clear to the Maloofs that they can get an arena. $500,000 is a spit in the ocean. We need the big kicker that Luckenbill can find. Pledges show spirit (anyone know the payoff percentage on a pledge?) but will build nothing.

If people don't know we have spirit, they have been asleep, drugged, or in a coma.

Now THIS post got me pumped up, baby!!

The reason why it was placed on the bottom is because the banner (picture) was longer. It made more sense to put it there with the three other small logos on top.

My original thought was to cut the banner in half but I wanted to include the entire thing.

Right now I feel like a Maloof.

I tried to do all I can to work with others in a common goal and instead I pee off a few folks.

To those I pissed off, I apologize.

I'm going to shut it down for a while and stay away from this board. Thanks.

We love and appreciate ALL you have done, Mike. Please know that! You kept many of us going when frankly most had given up. Please don't stay away too long as you are part of this family. Personally, I will miss you, bro....
