Chris Webber Upset About Kings' Plight...

To the people who say if the kings left and they built an arena and saying u would boycott the arena why would u boycott it? We need an arena not just for the kings, but for concerts,etc.... It is about having civic pride for our region with a new entertainment and sports complex it is not just about the kings. We need this new arena weather there here or not.

i dont want another team. This team is on the upswing and we know it. We had to suffer bad seasons for how many years and just as things are getting better, this happens? it only makes it worse for me.
I'd want another team only if we're allowed to call them the Kings and put us in the Pacific division with Anaheim!!!(and 'that other team')

I actually think Sacramento would have a great shot of getting another team if a new arena was built.
Teams look at more than just the venue. There are many reasons that don't make it a good choice for an owner to move a team here.

It's a great market with a proven fanbase.
It's not a great market. If it was, we wouldn't be dealing with the issues we are dealing with right now.

It's a moot point though because an arena will never be built. I don't buy this "we're gonna build an arena anyways" posturing for a second. We couldn't get it done when we had the Kings so there's virtually no chance of getting it done without the Kings. It won't happen. Our best hope at this point is that some Sacramento native becomes a billionaire and decides to build an arena and bring an NBA team to Sacramento with their own money.
I agree.

The fact that the man who was once notorious for refusing to come to Sacramento is no one of its most ardent supporters speaks volumes about Sacramento fans though.
That's never been in dispute; you guys are the best fans I've ever seen...

sadly, like the song says, "Sometime love just ain't enough..." :(

Right. They look at things like projected growth, potential fanbase, the amount of competition in the market, etc. Sacramento has no competition from other pro sports, it’s projected to be one of the fastest growing regions in the country, and it’s got a long history of selling out NBA games. Those things are all attractive selling points to owners looking for a place to move.

There are no issues (plural), only an issue. We need an arena, that’s the only issue. If one were to be built, everything else about the market is great for a team.

Oh, there are other issues -- specifiaclly a lack of corporate power to buy the boxes and advertising. But with an arena Sac at least stands a chance.

Projected growth would suggest more corporations in the future though. I understand it's no guarantee but it's something prospective tenants would at least consider.
