It did not happen. My point was that it could easily happen if Kahn says out loud "I'm drafting Cousins." Then Cousin's agent could very well escalate the threat to his client is going to Europe if drafted knowing full well about the Rubio not wanting to play for Minne as well.
Anyways my point is that it's unfair that a rookie (through him or his agent) can make such demands even if in this case can benefit our team. Because so many times that we've been on the unwelcoming side of a free agent or player not wanting to be here.
Usually the agents have more of an inside track on which teams are interested a client. Its been reported just about everywhere including the Minny newspapers that the Timberwolves are going to move up to take Turner if possible, or stay put and draft Johnson. So with that knowledge the agent simply said that Cousins wasn't going to be working out in Minny. As far as I know, the Timberwolves haven't requested a workout. So I think your blowing the whole thing out of proportion a little.
I'm sure that if Kahn called up the agent and said were really interested in Cousins, he would go and work out. We don't even know the sequence of events that led to the statement. Someone may have asked if Cousins was working out for the Timberwolves and the agent may have said no, that they're pretty much set on drafting Johnson.
Bottom line is that the agent is there to help and protect his clients interest. Having him go through a pointless workout when you know the team has no interest doesn't make sense. Add to this, that I can find no complaint from the Timberwolves FO printed anywhere in any of the Minny newspapers. As a matter of fact, there has been no mention of Cousins at all that I can find.
By the way, Johnson is working out for the Timberwolves tomorrow and Dexter Pittman just finished a workout. Apparently Kahn was very impressed with Pittman who Kahn says looks even slimmer than he did at the combine. Obviously with the T Wolves having two second round picks they may have Pittman targeted.
