Rams to be sold to Illinois businessman

The majority owners of the St. Louis Rams have reached an agreement to sell the team to an Illinois businessman who doesn't want to move the team, according to published reports Thursday.

...

Forbes magazine has estimated the Rams franchise has a value of $929 million, though some experts have said a more realistic sale price will be closer to $750 million.

No surprise there really. Kind of amazing how fast the fall was, though many predicted it due to the way they used him early in his career. Though I have always been pretty critical of his performances in big games, for some reason I almost feel like the Chargers hung him out to dry the past season or two and that it's a sad ending.

I read on RealGM that the Chargers may offer Cromartie for LenDale White, now that Johnson is in Tennessee. Anybody got any insight on White?

If you want a running back, you can get someone as good as LenDale White in the draft. He's nothing special, and he has his question marks. I think Cromartie is too much to give up for an average running back.

Yeah, I remember hearing his name but I didn't know how good he was. Which by default should put him in the "nothing spectacular" pile, which is why I really don't want this trade to go down. I actually think Cromartie is slightly overrated, but he's still a good corner

Curious to see what the 9ers do with their 2 1st round draft picks.

Anyone think they'll make an offer to Julius Peppers in free agency?

I knew Cromartie was gone, not liking it to the Jets.

Peppers to the Bears in interesting. Seems like they should be focusing on building up their offense for their golden boy and I'm sure Peppers ain't cheap.

I think that story is old. Is there a new twist that TMZ is reporting now? I can't check from work.

Edit: Apparently this is another woman. Uh oh.

Peppers is good, but thats a lot of money. I wonder how much of it is guaranteed? Fairly long contract for a guy thats been in the league for a while and has a lot of wear and tear on his body.
$40 million guaranteed in the first three seasons. So it's essentially $14-15 million/per for the first three years, and then all bets are off after that. Similar to the Haynesworth deal.

I think I like Quinn to the Broncos.

And hopefully LdT's downward spiral accelerates... word is they want Brandon Marshall too, would love to see that chemistry nightmare blow up in their faces because on-paper they seem to be a better team than the Pats now.
