Don't blame you, considering your NFL team has it's own thread...
Of course they have their own thread.

NINERS!!!

Seriously? I think the number of Niner fans here far outweighs the number of fans of other teams. There used to be a small core of Raider fans, but since the arrival of JaMarcus Russell, they've kinda blended back into the woodwork.

;)

You guys probably out number the rest of the NFL fans here, altogether.

Bears news Bears news!!!! Because I know you all care so much.

So we cleaned house, got rid of all those coordinators who made Cutler throw all those interceptions. The bastards. Don't they know that throwing into triple coverage is encouraged? Nerve of some people. Instead of going from the top up (and I'd start with that old wingbat who took George's dream and tore it down without even blinking) and getting rid of Angelo (just horrendeous drafting and development of talent) and Smith ( Cover 2?? Really? It aint 2003 anymore, wake the **** up) they get rid of ALL the offensive staff. One of the coaches speaking under annonimity called Cutler a "coach killer" and uncoachable. Personally, I'd ship his *** right back to Denver for a bag of Doritos. His attitude rivals that of Smith, and this town deserves better than both of them. Give me sexy Rexy back any day. At least the dude cared.

We don't have a first or second draft pick next year, and the draft after that is equally butchered. How's that Gaines Adams thing work... awwww not so good you say? Whou'd a thunk it that a career underacheiver is... underacheiving? Don't worry, we can sign JaMarcus "Party in Vegas" Russell and then we can all go not caring to a 5-11 season. **** it, bring back Shoop, or even better O'Shea with his Chinese Phone book thick playbook.

Daaaaaaaaaaaaa Bears

I'm not sure how Ditka hasn't strangled Smith by now. Come to think of it, don't be surprised if you see a fat white guy running towards the Bears sideline at some point next season. Probably when we're 1-4 and down 21 pts to the Lions or something at halftime.

Do you guys think that Lovie's facial expression would change if he won the lottery?

Doesn't Ditka have heart problems? I'd truly hate to see him only make it part way to the sideline before collapsing in a heap...

Last time I really followed the Bears was with McMahon at the helm and Ditka pacing the sidelines. That's when they were DA BEARS to me. :)

I'm certainly not as emotional about this as you are, but two things I agree with you on: 1) the Bears are screwed in the draft this season and next because of the Cutler trade; 2) Jerry Angelo needs to go for the Bears to be good again (and Lovie Smith should go with him).

In lighter news...
Rumors have Mike Shanahan being introduced as the new Redskins coach tomorrow. You know, I think I could actually root for him to succeed there. Not like I'd buy skins gear or anything, but its not like I like any of those NFC East clubs.
It's official: Shanahan to the Redskins
The deal with Shanahan is for five years, the Denver Post reported. The hire came less than 48 hours after the Redskins fired Jim Zorn and less than three weeks after front-office chief Vinny Cerrato resigned and quickly was replaced by general manager Bruce Allen.

In less than a month, the Redskins have gone from an organization that revolved primarily around Snyder and yes-man Cerrato to one that includes two established decision-makers.

Shanahan will have the final authority on football decisions, according to ESPN.com. That would be the same arrangement Snyder had with coach Marty Schottenheimer in 2001 -- before the two butted heads and Schottenheimer was fired after an 8-8 season.

For those talking about resting players / throwing games down the stretch, I dont think this problem is going to go away.

Take a look at my patriots. We just lost our team MVP in Wes Welker. Now here is a player who gets beat up all season. Almost as much as a running back. If you catch the ball 10 times a game your going to get hit 10 times a game. Bill doesnt rest him, and he gets hurt. Blows out his ACL and MCL. Obviously heinsight is 20 20, but when something like this happens you can see why a coach would rest his stars.

I wouldnt have played Brady either. The guy has three cracked ribs and a broken finger.

Its tough. Its the coaches job to get his team ready for the playoffs, and its the owners job to give the fans what they paid for.

Jim Mora Jr. fired

The Seahawks finished 5-11 this year, third place in the NFC West. They finished the year on a four-game losing streak during which they failed to score more than 13 points in any game.

Seattle has already called for permission to interview other assistants. Likely candidates include Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier, among others.

The Seahawks were far worse than their record, quite possibly the third worst team in the league this year. They beat the Rams twice and also the Lions. Their other wins were a struggling Jax and a 3 point win over the 9ers at home. I guess Mora's firing shouldn't have been any surprise yet there was talk he was going to get another season. They really do need to clean house and I'd start with Hasselback.

I wouldn't even care but unfortunately the geniuses that run things have blessed me with 16 Seahwaks games a year on tv.

You're a Pac-10 guy, right? Rumor is Pete Carroll is on the list, and is reportedly interested...

Indeed I am. Pete really should stay at USC unless he fears all the hell from their other transgressions is going to smack down the football program soon. He didn't walk into the best situation when he took the Pats job but he really seems to be better at the college game. USC didn't really set the world on fire in the 90s either. Though it appears there is a lot more competition in the Pac now, the Trojans were the only saving grace come bowl season and I'd hate to lose that even if I hate to root for USC.

I think he's a great college coach, but you have the USC investigations hanging over the program, you have a premiere recruiting program that loses it's best players to the draft every year (they lost half their starting defense and their quarterback in one year, no wonder they fell off), and you also lose your best coordinators regularly. It's enough trouble trying to build a winner, but in college you have to deal with it being dismantled every two years. At least in the NFL, you know you can lock up your best players long term, you don't have to deal with shady boosters and greedy players and their parents, and you might lose your coordinators, but the best coaches in the world are in the NFL. Coordinators are replaceable.

I've been saying for two years that I think he should get back in the NFL. I would if I were him. He's been a hot commodity for years. Might as well cash his chips in before he gets too old.

ESPN: Manning wins 4th MVP
Peyton Manning became the first player to win The Associated Press NFL Most Valuable Player honor four times. The Indianapolis Colts' sensational quarterback romped to the award Saturday in balloting by 50 sports writers and broadcasters who cover the league.

He received 39½ votes to 7½ for Drew Brees of New Orleans. Only four players -- all quarterbacks -- earned votes. The other two were Philip Rivers of San Diego (2) and Brett Favre of Minnesota (1).

Manning also won in 2003, 2004 and 2008, breaking a tie with Favre at three MVPs.

"I'm very humbled and grateful to be honored with this award and I really feel like it is a reflection of our team," said Manning, who guided the Colts to a 14-0 record before they rested starters in the second half of two games and finished 14-2.

"I have to believe that starting 14-0 and having seven comeback wins has a lot to do with this award coming our way, and I'm very grateful to all the players and the coaches and our fans, who were a big part of it. There were a number of other extremely deserving candidates."

It's official: Pete Carroll to coach the Seahawks
Pete Carroll has reached an agreement in principle with the Seahawks on a deal to be their next head coach, multiple NFL sources confirmed to ESPN's Adam Schefter early Saturday morning.

Carroll was fully expected to be introduced by the Seahawks as early as Monday, after the team interviewed Vikings defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier on Saturday morning.

I wish Carroll and the Seahawks all the best in the world. I suspect my son-in-law Josh is a very happy camper right now.

Interesting speculation on who will replace Carroll at USC. I've only heard a few names mentioned and one of them is Jeff Fisher (former USC D-back) and current head coach of Tennessee Titans.

That would shock me. Fisher is a great coach, top 5 maybe. I cant see him taking a step back, and if the Titans fire him thier nuts.
