Evans - PG or SG? And yes, it's this again...

I see, I am the only one who don`t believe Evans is point guard...and I still see this! He should play at SG mostly and maybe PG as his second spot! I don`t wanna be subjective, but offense is running better with Beno on PG!

As I see it, Evans is an SG or a combo at the best. He likes to score too much to be a real good PG. It is wasting his talent playing him at that spot.

Evans dominates the ball which makes the PG position as important as the one in Cleveland or la or Boston. We need someone who will take less than 15 seconds to get in the other half of the court and give the ball to Evans, who can make open shots and defend.

He takes way too much time to bring the ball up and set up the offense...I think he's a 2, but then again, every time this year that he has dominated wasn't it against the opponent's smaller PG???

I can't really recall him going at the opponents SG a lot....maybe I just haven't noticed it.

Would it perhaps not be any coincidence that you are both coming in off of a Slovenian IP address?
do you always have to spoil fun ?;)

Can you on a day off for a change just ignore those small details:p and pretend like they don't have hidden agendas so I can have little fun with them

He seems to be like the middle point between Wade and LeBron...For me it's a no brainer: SG.

I understood he started playing at PG as everybody spected him to be the PG that this team needed, as Martin was the starter SG and Beno was horrible last year. I think it's obvious that circumstances have changed a little since summer.

Indeed they have -- we've been winning games...with Evans playing PG.

I'd prefer him at the point guard spot paired up with someone at the 2 or 3 that has some handles and I will leave it at that so we don't have to splinter this off into a third thread :)

Personally, I think that Tyreke isn't a true PG. Yet! However, many of the leagues great PGs weren't even close to being true PGs in their rookie year. It's a position that takes time to truly master. It took Chauncey Billups several years before he became the PG he is today. The nice thing about being in a rebuilding team like the Kings is that you have time to learn your position. Tyreke is learning the position, and hopefully he will master it by the time the rest of the team is ripe to contend for the title. That is, of course, assuming that both Tyreke and the coaching staff actually WANT him to be the PG.

Of course Brick, but he has played at both positions. I don't remember where was a thread in wich was linked an article about this topic that said he was more effective when played at SG.

I think that, if he has shown to be solid at PG, it's because the kid is a genious: the same reason that explains why Wade is very OK at PG. But I think his natural position is SG. If he can be more effective playing at PG so the other team suffers when pairing deffenses it's another question. But as far as I've seen runing the team, he's not a PG. He is a combo guard, like Wade, like Roy...

Does it really matter? Of course not, as long as Kings win. But maybe it worth start him at SG so he start developing abilities without the ball instead of waiting him to improve his abilities as PG.

Evans has played the 2, because the starting 2 guard has been out with a broken wrist and they have other guards that can also play the point. Beno has played the 2 does that make him a 2 as well??

Evans himself doesn't call himself a pure PG, but when Martin comes back Evans will be the PG...period....end of discussion. Unless they put Beno out there, and need Evans body at the 2. Other than that you will never see Martin play PG and Evans play 2.

Okay, I'll bite. If we play Evans at the 2, who starts at the 1?

You are not the only one... If you think so I ask "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!?"

Personally, at this point I don't give a crap because he's going to be a star, and every team needs a star to win the title.

I'm resigned to seeing this argument over and over. Even if we win an NBA championship with Tyreke playing PG, this argument will never die. It will live in perpetuity along with threads about how Rubio would have been a better pick. ;)

Along with threads about the Lakers getting all the calls and threads about how the Webber trade was horrible. People just won't let things die. Add threads about Kevin Martin not being able to mesh with Evans (even if they somehow became the greatest back court tandem ever) and you've got an onslaught of important non issues

I think some people here forget how an offensive game of your own can really give the defense trouble in both trying to help guard you and your teammate.

As of right now Tyreke has no consistant jump shot which makes him effectively and 1 dimensional PG prospect (Drive and dish either to the perimiter or around the help defense to a player cutting to the basket whose defender position himself to help on tyreke.

Once/if he learns a consistant jump shot the double team will come out farther from the basket. Im not talking about set traps im talking about double teams to stop him from freeing up on a defender and shooting the jumper over him. Anyways once you are that threat your teammate has the freedom to get to the basket and be in position to recieve a pass to score.

We dont see that from tyreke because the D does not play him that way. And they never will untill he can prove he can knock down a jumper at a rate high enough to beat you. Once he can do that his game at PG will open up. If he stays there that is... either way he is the lead guard so find a big player to put next to him to force a mismatch on the floor. That was the kings plan all along anyways.

Basically, people not letting things die is what keeps sports message boards going in the first place... :)

Yes. Just ask the Red Sox fans who are still complaining about Babe Ruth.

Whatever happens happens. The overall point is that we have finally gotten a legitimate superstar-in-the-making. I couldn't give two you-know-whats what position he plays. Put him at center for all I care. When you have a superstar, you just have to have him out there.

The only problem I have with Tyreke as a point guard is when he brings the ball down we only get into the offense with 5-6secs on the clock.
The same can be said about Beno and Sergio. All of our PGs seem to have a real issue with getting our offense set at times.(Of course, the same could be sad about pretty much every other point man in the league.

That's not all just on the Point Guard. If your team cant get themselves moving and create and opportunity to get a pass in the first place the movement is going to remain static. With time and more practice they will get better. We need another offensive threat though. If your offensive consists of one player it aint gonna work...
