Kings started a winning streak by winning back to back set in Utah and at home against the recreational team from the YMCA in Oakland. Kings improved to 3-4 which is 8th in the West, 2-1 at home and they can even improve as they will host OKC Thunder. A solid chance to go to 0.500 which hasn't happen in a very long time. Kings won 3 out of their last 4 games:eek:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
After 3 years op clowns, drunk drivers, incompetemt hair style modells kings finally have a coach with a winning record over 60%. One man maybe can't change everything but he has already started to change things little by little. Players are way more motivated, they are more responsible in the game on both ends of the floor. They enjoy each other's presence, they are more selfless and it shows on the court. The extra effort is there. We are young and crazy reckless right now. It won't work most nights fur every now and then it will and it will be fun to watch.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Other reason for this change in mentality is the fact that most grumpy veterans are long gone or play for the Bulls. Those who are left - don't have any influence. We have young players who don't have losing written all over their basketball DNA code. They are just started to buy into the concept and started to believe. Green suddendly plays basketball, Beno cares again, new guys wants their place in the sun - all together Kings are waking up.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
If this trend continues, maybe just maybe more ARCO chairs will dress up as people and this young team will get more adequate support. ARCO magic can make a difference between a decent team and a good team or between a good team and great team at home. It is needed. It is not easy considering the economic situation but I doubt that money is the main hurdle here. It was sucking that turned some people away. Maybe these kids will get them back.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings best player went down and the team picked it up and even improved in some way. Gee, I wonder where we have seen that one before;). Sounds awfully familiar. Anyways, in two games without Kevin Martin Kings defense improved while the offense didn't get any worse resulting in the two consecutive wins. makes you wonder ? Not really. it doesn't mean much at all because we are still a 20 win franchize this season, well maybe 25 since we are in the awfull Westen conference the home of the Warriors, Wolves, Clippers, Grizzlies. If Knicks and Nets were in the West we would make playoffs.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
It does give us more flexibility, real flexibility. Not the one which Kenny Thomas brought. You can use Kevin Martin as a valuable asset in the quest to build a playoff team. And yet - you really don't have to.While Kevin can score he has 2 liabilities making him the weak link in the whole rebuilding process. He doesn't defend on a position which requires solid defense. He is also not very durable or so it seems. While it is not his fault that he is made out of glass - well he is made out of glass. In the NBA - you are going the get hit and then some. When you play for Kings you changed injured in your sleep or even in vacuum. So you do the math.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
I still think that we needa PG not named Udrih to pair up with Evans - to have a very promising backcourt for the future. While Beno is playing better - he is nothing more than overpaid bench player. Same as he was in San Antonio just much, much cheaper. Evans has yet to be focus of opponent's defense. He will become one soon and his weeknesses will be more visible. Now, if you have another good player to pair him up with - he is hardly guardable one he learns more about the NBA.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
While the win in Utah was awesome - it is hard to evaluate the win against NBA wannabe team across the bridge. Warriors are extremely awefull in everything they do. Only thing they are great at is losing. they lose often, easy and by a wide margin. Kings played well and the game was never close. We won the game on the boards:eek:. Not sure whether it tells something about us or about them. When Udrih has 2 offensive boards - you are in trouble.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM - Randolph - nothing big but it seems like Kings and anyone named Randolph produce nice numbers

LW-VC - Monte Ellis which is supposed to be their version of Kevin Martin. He was more lke their Jason Hart

RA&1 - Stephen Jackson. What a punk. Just imagine him and 'toine Walker in the same team

JHA - Noc has tried a lot but didn't do much

SAR- Metuselah - Mikki is still in the NBA

WTF moment of the game - Jax played center at one point. I guess they switched from small ball to retarded ball. must be nice playing for a team that doesn't have any designed plays.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
OKC Tuhnder are next and we own them a payback. Won'tbe any easy since they have a well constructed team around Nenad Krstic and Kevin Ollie. They are a serious PO contender this season. they beat up Magic pretty bad and they will be very confident. We have to push, push, push and if we do that - it will be a good game. This is maybe the only chance to get to 0.500 for a long time
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kevin - get well soon
Evans - hell yes
Noc - say hi to Muss when you see him in a meeting
Hawes - didn't shoot a three - WTF ???
Thompson - figuring it out

Beno - keep it up
Green - nice
Casspi - impressive
Udoka - Bowen light

rest mateen
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
OKC Thunder 3-3, 1-1 on the road has not won many times at ARCO but this time they will feel like they have a legitimate chance to do so. They have a nice depth. This time - Sefelosha gets the TDM. LW-VC goes to Westbrook. At the end Kings prevail.

Maybe I'm crazy but I'd love to see Dante get some extended time matching up with Jeff Green. He pretty much is a matchup nightmare against JT with his quickness and range. With Dante's size it could be a way to neutralize that matchup disadvantage. Also, I think Thompson might be a better matchup with Kristic than Hawes is.

Generally I hate going small to match up against small teams, but we never really seem to punish OKC inside in spite of Jeff Green being a little smaller for a power forward.

Who's going to this game!?!

I actually may, depends on what time I get off work..

If the Kings have a home game on or before Veteran's Day, they will usually acknowledge our veterans. Since I hold that status, it is a game I never want to miss. I'll be there. C'mon, vets, get on out to ARCO on Tuesday.

I like the Idea, Greene is taller and longer and just as quick. I think you may be onto something here. and if Greene dosent work we could always try Casspi. J.Green is always the guy that kills us. Especially from three. But I'm sure Westphal is already aware of all this and his thinking the same thing we are.

Thunder are real good this year. Unfortunately, I think our crazy streak ends here.
I wouldn't give up that easy;)

They have solid players and I expect close game, but I hope with Kings fans cheering and great hustle from the players, Kings would get to 4-4 score.
It is obvious that we have to stop Durant-Westbrook duo.
With Martin out injured, we need Evans and Noccioni to step up with scoring.

first game with the thunder

rookies had the that rookie jitters.. seven games in i think they have gotten a little bit comfortable with the pace of the nba is it evident in the last previous games? i havent watched i watched the grizzlies vs kings, horrendous start but fought way back...ill stay optimistic here that we can win this one the magic isnt the same team they were last year and i dont think they are that much stronger with the addition of Vince....

The beauty of this situation is that we wouldn't be smallballing at all; JT is 6'11, plenty tall enough to play center, and Donte is a good 6'9/6'10. There is a reason that some of us were so high on Donte, and thats because he's got SF athleticism and skills with PF height and length.

I've actually been thinking about the idea, if Donte blows up, of a Donte/JT frontline. It would be very athletic, very versatile, and solid defensively. This is all really premature, since Donte has really only had two good games so far, but I love his defensive presence and his ability to finish around the rim. With a Beno/Tyreke front court for the time being, it would definitely soften the blow of losing Kmart's scoring and finishing ability in the starting lineup.

That is, if Donte is not a one hit wonder.

I'm on board with that.

Greene/Casspi have to slow down Green.

If Hawes is in the game, they have to go to him down low and he has to be effective. Otherwise, have Hawes sit and put Thompson at center, but still go down low to him. Again, if Hawes isn't the central part of the offense, there's no point in having in there as he's not a superior defender or rebounder.

Think about putting Tyreke on Durant. Durant is taller, but he shouldn't be able to post against the stronger Tyreke.

Beno/Udoka have to deal with Westbrook somehow. This is when you might have to sacrifice offense in Beno and use Udoka more.

Durant is not a post up player, he is more of a face up scorer. Here is where I think Udoka and KT's 6 fouls should be utilized. Durant needs to get pushed around and Green needs to get an elbow or 7. Push them out of their comfort spots to start the game, set the tone, and it should make the game flow smoother. I just hope we get off to a good start and keep playing solid team defense like we have. THATS been the difference maker in the past couple games.

Tonight's game is winable..make shots, play solid D, and help each other out..I'd like to see the kings on offensive cut more to the basket more.

We can win this one..

Those posting on the Thunder forums are predicting an easy win, but most alarming is their consensus that Sefolosha will shut down Evans and Green will have his way in the paint. I truly hope Tyreke brings his "A" game and our post players don't give anything up to Green! Evans is proving even the best are not able to shut him down, and our defense down low, particularly against Utah, was great. Hoping for a repeat tonight!

Go Kings!!!
