Nice to get a win on the home opener. How good does Casspi look out there?! Im now with the group that wants him to start. I wish Tyreke would have a good game. He needs a nice confidence booster.

Great game, great win. All around great effort from the team. Wish I could have seen Brockman out there instead of KT.

Beno is a great backup pg. I Like how he pushes himself when he comes off the bench. Some people are calling for him to start and all I have to say is we saw what happened with him as the starter last year. Lets see him come off the bench more if this is the kind of production he is going to turn in. Why mess with a good thing?

Martin played a good offensive game, kinda disappeared for a stretch in the fourth when Beno went to work. But he came back solid with the energy of Casspi helping him out.

Spencer kept grabbing his nuts, and after this performance I am glad to tell him not to worry about them, looks like they have dropped.

JT has a serious bum rap, but he needs to stop reaching so much and overreacting to thing. He will get it, in time.

Casspi is a beast. Great vertical quickness, great scrap, great hustle, great touch, now just get better at defense and rebounding and he'll be a super stud.

Bummer about Tyreke and his ankle. You could tell he had less explosiveness and lift. Not that he ever displays much lift but it was a very noticeable drop in his lateral quickness and first step.

i think that westphal should try starting beno at pg and bringing evans off the bench. if hawes can come off the bench and come up big so can evans... casspi has no problem doing it either. we should at least try it out. martin shouldnt play 52 minutes.... with garcia hurt we really dont have a back up sg.... greene and casspi arent sg's... the are sf's period...

evans might be better off taking it slow and coming off the bench at pg and sg instead of starting. with his ankle being sprained, maybe he should take it slow. he didnt play the entire 4th or ot... and we somehow won.... the world didnt come to an end with evans on the bench... if thabeet and flynn can come off the bench so can evans.

i dont know if it was because of the ankle but he wasnt helping us out there trying to run the offense... let beno and sergio show us that evans should be the starting pg.
Keep dreaming your little dream. By the way, was Thabeet in the game? I seem to remember a big tall dude out there for about 30 seconds. Beno played well tonight. He seems to be a player that plays well in a share the ball system, but not very well on a team that plays isolation ball. Makes me wonder why he didn't fit with the Spurs. He's definitely a Dr. Jeckel and Mr. Hyde type.

When I played ball I can honestly say that when my team won, I had no idea what my stats were. I didn't even care. All I cared about was winning. And if I had an off game, I just tried to do whatever I could do to help. The Kings as a team played well tonight and they won. As a team. Were there players that didn't play as well as they were capable? Yes. Sometimes the ball just doesn't bounce the right way for you. Two games ago Hawes was a Wuss ( your words, not mine ). Tonight he was a very good player, and he played tough. He outplayed Gasol, who by the way looks remarkablely like Pau with the weight loss. Too bad he doesn't play like him. My point is, thats why you play a whole season.

By the way. I find it interesting that you are now calling Thompson a wuss because he's aggressive and getting fouls. But your calling Hawes a wuss because he's not getting in there, banging and being aggressive. A contradiction me thinks. :)

thank you. you're right each game we fall in a hole until the bench comes in. May and Mason should not be starting. I can understand putting a new crew on the floor but not 3 new starters and 3 old starters sitting on the bench giving more production. Casspi is coming along. He may end up being the steal of this draft.
I think you are prophetic! I think Casspi is very close to already being the steal of the draft. If he ends up starting, and having a good season he WILL BE the steal of the draft. Guys that late in the first round usually take a year or 2 to start, but Casspi as been playing pro for several years now so he isn't phased as all. He played in front of bigger crowds in Israel, and succeeded. Go Casspi and 'Reke and Casspi and GO KINGS !!!

I'm starting to get sad that I cant watch Kings games down here in SoCal.

Checked the boxscore...Omri is turning into a beast, we need to come up with a badass nickname for him. Tyreke is a bust....

....Just kidding.

But to those that watched: did Reke seem to be a bit hobbled out there? I hope he's better by wednesday. I await a dominant game from him with bated breath.

Good to see Hawes is steppin up. This happened last season too..I swear he reads these boards and only plays to impress us here at Kingsfans :p

JT got steamrolled. We need to play the Warriors to get his confidence back up.

He did seem a little hobbled out there... you could tell his ankle wasnt 100% out there. Could not drive and wasnt getting good push on his free throws they were coming short all night.

Guys in the late first round usually never start. IMO, Omri already is a steal(not of the draft yet), and a lot of guys picked at #23 never get their nba careers off the ground.

Just got back from the game and what a game it was.

Can someone please tell me why Kenny Thomas got a lot of minutes. I was upset that Brockman didn't play more than 6 minutes of the whole game.

hawes is still a wuss he just happened to have a nice game and we won... gasol and randolph just rant straight into the post to get position every time down the court. i commented about that earlier in the game, where gasol just ran right into hawes and hawes did nothing. we were lucky that we were playing the grizzlies and not the magic. thompson and hawes probably wouldve fouled out.

hawes looks like he doesnt want to body up on anyone on offense or defense.... thompson got worked by the refs in this game which i also mentioned. if he hadnt gotten into foul trouble though we probably wouldve lost the game. i was joking about thompson being a wuss...

Just got back from the game. Honestly I didn't think the Kings were going to win tonight during most of the game. Memphis' front line is so much better than ours, and it was obvious from the get go. They demolished us on the boards.

I think Westpaul did a good job and showed his veteran coaching ability. We would have lost this game with a rookie coach. Westpaul was wise enough to recognize that Tyreke with his bad ankle wasn't getting it done and went with Beno down the stretch. He also went with my boy Omri during crunch time and it paid dividends. Omri changed the game when he came in the first half... before that the Kings were getting whipped and looked lackadaisical. Love Omri's fire, and his competitiveness. He wanted to take on the other team's best player and today he took on OJ Mayo. I also like the fact that Omri has professional experience and doesn't play like a typical rookie. I think the King's would have lost this game without Omri.

We needed this win in the worse way.

More random thoughts: It was depressing to see Memphis having more talent than our team, yet they had a higher draft pick than us last year! UHHH!

Marc Gasol has lost a lot of weight, and looks great out there. I'd take him over Spencer Hawes any day. He's big, he's got a low post game, and he doesn't shoot 3 pointers. We need to get upgrade our frontline next year big time.

The girl that I brought to the game was rooting for the other team! I was like WTF!!!

actually I thought Kenny Thomas did a lot of good things when he came in. He played defense and he rebounded well.

got back from the game a few minutes ago - fun game to watch once the first Q was over - crowd got rocking at the end of the game.

Still trying to figure out the empty seats in a sellout though.....not that many, but enough that they were noticable.

dude you cant be bringing chicks to the game if there going for the other team thats treason
Man I seriously didn't know she was going to be rooting for the other team. I guess she thought it would be funny. Well obviously I didn't find it very funny at all!

I'm taking my girlfriend to the Kings Laker game in december... she's a laker fan. Not sure how that will work out. I'll prolly end up joining the mob that jumps her though lol.

Great effort, but I still have to find something to gripe about:

KT: 14:28
Brockness: 6:08

No excuse IMO for KT getting over double Brock's PT.
I'm no advocate of Kenny Thomas but he played alright tonight. Set some really good screens and played tough in the paint on d. With that said, I'm all for Brockman being our main back up pf.

Congrats to Sacramento! Watched the game live here in Israel. Beno, KM, Noc, Hawes, Omri were great. Good to see the coach believing in Omri, and playing him during the decisive minutes of the game. Go, Kings!

1. I don't care if KT played ok, because Brock played ok as well in the short time he was in. I'm sure he could do as well as KT or better in the same amount of time.

2. I also don't care if KT is a monster inside, because he will either be gone by the deadline, or leave after the season as a free agent. So he is irrelevant for this team.

I have only one question after this game. Is Casspi the rookie better than Peja when he was a rook or Hedo when he first came into NBA? Obviously, all three have their own unique talents. But I think Omri has more, maybe a lot more diversity to his game and lots more intensity - seemingly every second he's on the court.

Way to go Kings!!! - especially Kev, Beno, Hawes, Casspi...
Casspi is definitely better than Peja at the same stage in their career. Casspi is tough; Peja wasn't.
