Now this nicname I like and it describes Brockman's attitude and game.

P.S. With full credit to Jerry Reynolds during Hornets game 10/30/09

I think tonight's game really showed that Brock is very essential to our team. Hope coach saw his production and rewards him with consistent PT

I have to agree. I liked it when Brickie first posted it and I love it now, especially when, much like the guy called Tiny who is anything but, it is pretty obvious Brockman is aggressive, determined, a real fighter and someone who will really get the fan base in his corner.

Peaches is peachy! :p

And I truly hope they don't put him in the starting lineup. We need his energy, enthusiasm and spark to come off the bench. I can imagine seeing him AND Cisco coming in and really lighting up the fans - and the team. Not every player should be a starter. we've needed a player like Brockman for quite a while - well, since Pollard in his prime. I'm glad to see we may have found a new Samurai Scot, so to speak.

Brockman is the man! but there will never be another Samurai Scott...

So, what do you guys think? Is Brockman something similar to Shelden Williams? You know, defense & rebounding, and not much else? Or do you guys think he has some offensive upside as well? Or just a hustle player?

Brockman is, IMHO, at the very least a cross between Pollard and Mark Madsen. He's got the heart, he's got the hustle and he's got the DESIRE to put it all out there on the court every single night - what I would call the "RUDY factor." He's also got a fairly nice move inside, provided there isn't a 7-footer in there to shut him down.

Cool... Its nice to have someone like Brockman, that's for sure. You can never have too much energy/hustle!

Sheldon Williams leaves a spot on the floor. Brockman leaves a dent on the floor. No comparison! Sheldon directs traffic. Brockman stops traffic..;)

How about explaining your point of view? That would be cool.

I think of Shelden as a good defensive presence, and that's what I've been seeing/hearing about Brockman. Why do you say they have completely different games?

I'm not sure I would call Brockman a good defensive presence. He's a very good reboudning presnece, and he'll bang you -- you know he's there on defense. But I don't think guys are going to have too hard a time scoring over him, particularly taller guys.

Shelden was interesting just because he as a big defensive presence in college, majopr shotblockler etc., but just found himslef too short to do that in the NBA. Brockman never even did it in college.

Should be interesting to see him try to match up wiht "The Beast" (San Anontio's nickname for Blair) tommorow.

Nah! Brockmans energy and hustle off the bench is his main value. You need a sparkplug type guy off the bench, especially a banger/rebounder.

I see what you're saying. Thanks for the opinion!

With Blair playing like the Carlos Boozer of this draft (stubby edition), sounds like a challenge. They're matches for height, but not for bounciness.
Actually Brockman is almost two inches taller. Blair is 6'5.25" without shoes, and Brockman is 6'7" without shoes. What makes Blair so unique is that he has a 7'2" wingspan, and pretty good hops for someone as heavy as he is and with two bad knee's. It should be fun. The battle of second round picks.

Both 6'7" per nba.com. I'd forgotten that they were that different barefoot.

I think my money's still on Blair, but we'll see.

I seriously doubt Brockman is 6'7" barefoot. He's probably closer to 6'5 1/2" himself. Difference between Blair and Brockman is Blair has more offensive skill. Brockman is more athletic and gets off the floor higher and faster. Could be an interesting matchup, but I think Brockman more than holds his own if Westphal plays him.

There is no comparison to Brockman and Sheldon. None whatsoever.

I'll grant you it's still very early, but Williams appears to be doing alright in a system that can make use of what he does well. He appears to have filled the Leon Powe role in that offense quite nicely.

This was brought up before and someone, and I don't remember who, came up with the info. I'll see if I can, once again find the source.
The only thing I saw was a blurb about him at the thing before the combine, can't remember what it's called, anyway, it said he was the most impressive player there and I do believe it said he was 6'7". It may have even said in his socks, but there's just no way. He's shorter than Sean May and Sean measured out at 6'6.5" at the combine.

I think in comparing Brockman and Shelden you're not too far off base. They are both beasts in the strength department, difference is Brockman is pretty dang athletic and seems to be fundamentally in tune with what he can do. I'd like to see him have the chance to handle the ball a little more to be honest. He said something a month or two back about how he has some hidden passing skill not too many people know about, I saw it here and there at Washington, he's not exaggerating, he's skilled. He also looked to have his jumper down in preseason, if he gets a consistent jumper down he's starter material. That's right, you heard it here first. ;)

and last ;)

much as the joy of watching Jon Brockman/Amare, Brockman/Bosh, Brockman/Duncan etc. matches warms my heart, I'm thinking that is simply not a consideration.
