A poster continually says the Kings suck, which is 100% true, and the guys fanhood is questioned and he is called a Laker fan in disguise. Typical kingsfans.com response.
He's got nothing good to say about the Kings. I mean nothing. He lives in LA. All his friends are Laker fans. Yeah! Thats exactly what I think of when I think of a Kings fan.

Until now I have never called anyone on this fourm a Laker fan. So its not typical of me. Nor do I think its typical of most people on this fourm. I'm the one that raised the question. A question he never responded to. So do me a favor. Don't blame the rest of this fourm for what I did. Hey, are you one of his Laker friends?? Just kidding dude!

Misguided he may be, a Lakers fan he is not.

You go back and look at the Kings roster back then. It was garbage. He had Danny Ainge and not much else. Nobody could have taken that team to the playoffs.

You can scoff all you want at what you think he didn't do. But he's been hired into college jobs and NBA jobs. I'm guessing your resume stopped somewhere around the TV?
I didn't realize I was interviewing for the job. None the less, many incompetent suits have been hired in the NBA before. Perhaps I just need a good tailor.

If a media member or a fan makes the same comparison of Rubio and Ridnour, he would be laughed at, mocked and ridiculed. Deservedly so. Jerry is not exempt to this just because he has suckled his leech lips to the dried up hind cheek of this franchise. Rubio sees plays and player movement steps ahead, he sees not just his defender, but the defense and the other team's offense. He gets to the right spots. Luke is a nice set up guy, but gives no defensive effort and is not near Ricky in game IQ.

Jerry took the lowest possible comparison for exhibit A and then the highest possible comparison for exhibit B. That is salesmanship.

AM27 is one of the biggest Kings fans I've ever known, no one backed the team harder, or defended the guys harder than he used to. Of course he's negative... the Kings have made some really stupid moves over the last few years, and many of us saw this coming, AriesMar27 included. Hope springs eternal, but the front office has got to show us something... it's getting embarassing.

What does that have to do with anything? Is tenure supposed to excuse anything and everything? Useless statement. "Misguided he may be, a Laker fan he is not." Had me fooled.

Hey, I'm good with it. If Bricky says he's a Kings fan, thats good enough for me. If you live in the south for a while, you'll develop a southern accent without even knowing it. He's lives in LA. All his friends are Laker fans. I just think he's developed an accent without knowing it.:D

Calling someone a Laker fan is the highest insult you can give a Kings fan. Not cool at all. You might as well as talked ill about his mother and ran over his dog while you are at it. Brick summed it up best.

Once again, it seems that not many can survive prolonged exposure to Lakers fans without any ill effects. It is perplexing to see people being down when the Kings are on the way up. There is no point in fretting over bygone decisions.

We have got a tough bunch of rookies this year and an intelligent, personable coach. It seems like the whole organization is on the same wavelength just like the Adelman days. I think we will be seeing more positive results after the All-Star break once the team has worked together for a while.

This ain't the time to lick your wounds and wallow in self pity and regret, folks. It's time to get back up and keep going forward. I believe in the Kings. Do you?

I believe in the Kings. Do you?
Not really. At least not until we start to see some consistently real intelligent decisions being made. Yes, they've drafted some lower first round, early second tough guys and I think we have a talented young rookie in Evans. If those moves are enough to restore faith in the franchise for some, while pretending the ineptitude of the last half decade didn't exist, so be it. A team needs all types of fans (the half full, half empty and utterly confused over what a cup is). It just doesn't work for me. I need to see a little more.

the fact that i live in los angeles but have come here to post comments and dumb trade threads everyday for the past 7 years shouldve been proof enough that i am a kings fan.... once this team makes some progress i'll be more optimistic about where this team is headed. but signing sean may wasnt one of them.

i was right about trading webber, i was right about trading bibby, and i was right about drafting douby.... i hope that i am wrong about evans. i want this team to succeed but only time will tell and i will have to sift through post after post about how it takes years to develop young players... blah, blah, blah.... some of you should be objective yourselves and put yourself in my shoes. in my short life i have watched the lakers win 7 or 8 championships. how many of you are old enough to have watched the kings/royals win 1?

maybe you guys dont know what its like to be a kings fan in los angeles..... you think that you have it bad in sacramento watching a team lose. all i have are box scores and then i get to watch the lakers beat the crap out of the same team that we lost to a few days before.

I grew up in LA. Was a Lakers fan. Wilt, West, Jabbar, Magic, Worthy, Scott. Also, I grew up a UCLA fan - TEN national championships. I think I know a little about the thrill of victory. Doesn't change the fact that it takes patience to build a team. And luck. Before the Lakers traded for Jabbar, they sucked. And you know of course that they got Jabbar because LA is a media superstar (unlike Sacto). Just because you watch one (or two) teams win championships, doesn't mean that abracadabra you can waive your magic wand and presto you have a championship caliber team. Otherwise, everybody could do it.

i dont need the kings to win a ring next season. i need them to compete for a playoff spot. i know that they wont win a ring this coming season. it isnt hard to build a team that can make the playoffs, they made it webber's first year here. they didnt stand a chance at winning a ring but it was something to look forward to next season. from that point on they got better and better until webber got injured against dallas.

i dont want to see this team turn into the hawks from a couple of years ago. lottery pick after lottery pick and no playoff experience. or like the grizzlies now, all potential and nothing to show for it. though they are better than we are... mayo, gay, gasol and thabeet is a good core to build around especially if randolph plays well...

I guess I just don't understand your mentality. At a time when everyone else is finally feeling like were moving in the right direction, all you can come up with is everything sucks. Frankly, I don't give a damm who your a fan of. I was a fan of the St. Louis Hawks back in 1956. You remember, that was right after the wagon trains left to discover the west. I watched the Hawks leave and move to Atlanta. It broke my heart. I watched my St. Louis Cardinal's football team leave and move to Arizona. I've watched teams go from nothing to something and back to nothing again. Thats what happens if you live long enough. Its a damm cycle that just keeps repeating itself over and over again.

There's only one sport that I love more than basketball, and thats baseball. Thats because I played it, and I was gifted at it. But basketball is my second love. What I mean by that, is that I just love watching the game. I love breaking it down. When I'm at a game in person, I sometimes don't even know the score. I'm the same way when I play a sport. I get so caught up in playing that I don't even know who's ahead in the game.

And Aries, it is just a game. Its suspossed to be fun to play, and fun to watch. And believe me, no one wants to win more than I do. I will scratch and claw to the final out, or minute. But when its over, whether my team has won or lost, its over. We all go and have pizza and beer. I like to think that the good Lord above smiles more about my effort, than my win. My point is my friend, is that whats done is done. Its over, and its a new day. A lot of us are, at the moment optimistic about the future. We all have different ideas of how and when that future will arrive. And thats where the criticizism will come from time to time. Some of us are more patient than others.

I'm sorry I called you a Laker's fan. But I was trying to irritate you as much as your irritating all the positive fans on this fourm. And I don't apologize for the irritation, if any, that I may have caused you. Because, even though your not a Laker fan, and I have sat next to them at ARCO, You might as well have been one, because you say the same things they say. A lot of reasonable arguments have been presented to you by members that I consider knowledgable. But yet you persist. So its apparent that your mind is closed on this subject and its fruitless to try and convince you otherwise. I truely, truely hope that the team plays well enough to make you more optimistic. Because man, its really sucks emotionly to feel the way you do.

It's not hard to make the playoffs? According to whom? Sure, just conjure a young Chris Webber from an old Mitch Richmond and nab a middle-aged Vlade for fun. Easy. Simple. Piece of cake. This GM stuff is child's play. That's craaaazy stuff, man. Way out there. Mars and Jupiter and Pluto. Milky Way stardust. And what's your point with the Grizzlies? That they are so much better? I doubt it. They have Gay. Other than that, I wouldn't trade any of the players you mentioned for any of our starters.

that's a bit of a gray area. it really depends on the conference you are in and the relative talent level of said conference at that point in time. 16 out of 30 teams make it into the playoffs, i feel like it shouldn't be overly difficult to make it in...

and as for the grizzlies, i'd trade our starting SF (whoever he is) for mayo or gasol. :)

and thats it... youve spent enough time watching teams win, lose and move from city to city. the most that i have experienced is watching the rams and raider leave los angeles. which sucked but i moved on.... i dont live in sacramento so if the kings leave it wouldnt hurt me because i dont get to see them live anyways. but ive been a kings fan for all of 10 years, they've been competetive for maybe 4 of those 10. and that was the first 4 years. watching basketball is fun but with the kings most of what i have to follow them with is either box scores or vf21's play by play.... hell the pbp is the reason i started coming here so often. i had no idea what was going on in the game and espn didnt have gamecast yet with pbp.

but right now, the team sucks... im not lying about the team. we can agree to disagree but that wont change the fact that the team sucks. we have beno and sessions will be signing with the knicks for mle.

exactly... its a win-win situation.... and is it really pessimistic when its true? since when has telling the truth been a nice thing? when people say, "i hate to say it but..." thats never a nice conversation.

if they suck, i'll have an "i told you so" thread.... if im wrong and they succeed, i'll be the first to say that i was wrong about whatever topic i was wrong about. i dont want this team to suck but the fact of the matter is that the team does suck right now. i expect them to be etter than last years team so that should mean something. but i dont see this team making the playoffs which is where we should be trying to get to, not the lottery... i dont want this team to be in the running for john wall, i want them playing in the playoffs. i want them to at least play 4 more games than half of the nba. id rather they get swept then end up with the 4th pick and the worst record in the nba again. at least if they get swept in the first round they made the playoffs, we would know what we have to build around. we would know who to keep and who we need to make it to the next level.

well, pessimism isn't really related to the truthiness of a statement, but to how you are looking at that statement.

and for what it's worth, i do know how you feel. i got to the point that you are being chided for in this thread about 5 years ago, which was the time that i thought to myself "we just signed greg ostertag, this could work!!!"

never again will i delude myself!!

And when I try to put myself in AM27's shoes, constantly surrounded by smug Lakers fans as they prepare for probable back-to-back titles, I can understand his frustration.

That franchise has huge advantages that most small market teams can never dream of having. They can spand like there's no tomorrow and still make money, they can easily and cheaply sign free agents, they have good players on other teams asking to be traded to them. When they need a new $400M arena, one is built for them without delay, and they get to split the rent with the Clippers. While we have to search and struggle to find any competent coach who will work for what we can pay, they can shell out for Phil Jackson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, and pretty much whoever they want. Unless 5 million people abruptly move to Sac, or until the Kings move to NYC, these relative advantages won't go away. And even then, we'd have a dozen or so championships to win before it was 100% even.

Despite all that, our FO can build a team that will go all the way, but it's an uphill battle, and they've been messing up for years. That's made me want to tear my hair out, but my patience has somehow lasted this long despite the constant disappointments. Being around smirking Lakers fans all the time, and expecting the Kings to stay even with them, to do things like rebuild with the speed and ease that they do, would make me totally nuts.

So I can kind of understand where he's coming from. A bandwagon fan might just fade away, but AM27 is too hard core for that, so he's freaking out instead.

Look, we both want the same things. I'm just more realistic than you are. We are in a rebuild! Can we at least agree on that. If we can, then its safe to say that our record is going to reflect that. Its very difficult to do it in one or two years. It has been done, but it requires luck. Like sucking for one year and having Tim Duncan sitting there at the top of the draft board. Or, you're in a major market and its easier to attract big time free agents. And even that doesn's help if your present team is really bad and your way over the cap thanks to bad management. AKA the Knicks. Now we can agree or disagree on when the rebuild should have started, or when it actually started. Without actually talking to Petrie, its pretty much subjective.

So I don't think the team sucks. I don't really like that phrase anyway. It should be applied to vacuum cleaners and other things I can't mention. But I agree that the team will more than likely have a bad record. Not as bad as last year, but I seriously doubt it will be good enough to make the playoffs. Now that may bitterly disappoint you, because thats the standard you've set for the coming year. At least it sounds that way. But it doesn't disappoint me. No realistic fan would expect the team to make the playoffs this year. But I damm well expect them to be a lot better. I want the assists to go up and the turnovers to go down. I want the team to out rebound most of the teams they play, and if not outrebound them, then at least stay even with them. I want our offense to look like, well, an offense. Like we have an actual plan out there. Ditto the defense!

In other words, I have hope. Now I want the team to give me reason for having that hope. If they don't, I'll be as critical as you are. But right now, other than we don't have a backup center, or we haven't made any sexey moves, I don't have anything to criticize. I could play the " Woulda, Coulda, Shoulda " game like you, but it doesn't accomplish anything. Does it really make you feel better? When did you start watching the Kings and become a fan? I'm just curious if you were a fan from the get go. Because they really stunk there for a while. I was there from the beginning, sitting in that warehouse with the loudameter hanging in the middle of the arena.

With the ownership we had then, and the league appointed GM, I thought the team was doomed for all eternity. But at least I was getting to watch NBA basketball. I guess I just have a different mentality. When I was a kid and my St. Louis Cardinals baseball team went from 5th place to 4th place in one year, I thought that was a sucess. I saved my allowance for streetcar fare and a ticket into the bleachers. I went on sundays because they were always doubleheaders. Two for the price of one. It didn't get any better. But when I was at the game, I never once thought about where my team was in the standings, or what the win would do for them in the overall picture. Yeah, I wanted them to win, but more than anything else, I enjoyed the game. One of the most exciting games I ever attended, my Cardinals lost to the Cinn. Reds 19 to 15. Stan Musial hit three home runs in the loss. And that was the first game of a doubleheader.

Anyway, I sincerely hope you find a little joy out of the coming season. And if not, you don't have to be a " I told you so ". I think we all know what you think. PS. I live in Ensenada. Your more than welcome to come down and watch the games with me. BYOB! :D

I can't argue with the first part, but at least we can't blame the FO for that one. I'm not so sure we'll be the worst team in the state either. Could be, but I don't think the Warriors are going to be all that great, and the Clips, well they are the Clips, and they always find a way to screw things up.:)
