VSL Game 3 Thread - Kings vs. Bucks

We need an offensive identity besides Tyreke trying to beat his man, because he isn't going to get 14 fts a game as a rookie in the NBA.

And at this point, I'd rather have JT just sit out and let the unknowns get his playing time. He just doesn't look like he cares.

I know these summer league games don't mean anything but i stil hate losing these, please just get at least one win.

Is it me or was Evans the only one doing anything on the Kings? Where's casspi, greene, thompson? Evans didn't even get that many screens, whereas Jennings was getting screens/pick and roll plays from his teammates on every play. Amir Johnson definitely showed up.

Man JT is playing really bad. Not good these are mostly rookies. Evans on the other hand is stud potential for sure. Still one guy does not make the team.

Yeah yeah I know Summer League.

I don't think its possible to have offensive identity in summer leauge. I mean our second and 3rd leading scorers are 2 guys that will never play a game for the kings. to bad our 2nd year guys are taking this summer league off.

I think they may be taking in vegas a little to much staying at the palms.

Well as crappy as Jennings looked in the first quarter, he looked equally heroic afterward.

Jennings and Evans are two wholly different types of players... you almost can't compare them on a "who's better" basis any more than you can compare a center against a guard.

Jennings has the clear edge in quickness, passing, and defense, while Evans rebounds and gets to the line at will, while turning the ball over far too often. The strength of each is the weakness of the other. Like some sort of anti-twins.

It's your job as a PG to get those guys involved. On this SL squad, Mathews shouldn't be #2 in shots taken.

Nope, that's true for sure. Brockman played very well though. Did all the little things and I believe 11 boards?

Matthews also played well late and McNeal did alright.

Unfortunately, our "big guys," JT, Omri and Donte just didn't perform at all.

That doesn't fall on PG. That falls on Coach, Milwaukee's D which dictated who was getting the good shots AND it falls on JT, Omri and Donte for not being as aggressive as Matthews.

There were plenty of open shots for his teammates after Evans drove in and kicked out. Milwaukee was basically just focused in on Evans the second half. If we had some 3 pt shooters, this game would have been easy. btw what happened to Landry? I don't remember seeing him in the second half. He did great in first half hitting shots.

Mathews will be replaced by Kevin Martin come regular season and yeah you want that guy taking shots. Its like the announcer said this may have been asked of Evans. They wanted him to assert himself in every play to see which parts of his game are best utilized come regular season.

Tyreke's ability to draw fouls and get into the lane in general is just incredible. Not many players can do that at will and it is really good to have someone on the team that can make something happen when the offense overall isn't working or needs a shot down the stretch. The rest of the team is just not playing well.

What is JT doing out there missing so many FGs and FTs and only 5 rebs?We out rebound them 45 to 27 and we still lose. Why? We shot 39.7% compared to their 51.6%. We shot 67% at FTs also. Can't win many games like that.

Casspi and Greene aren't making things happen either.

You know, if you've been following their careers before the NBA, Jennings and Evans have been paired off against each other for years because they're the two most dominant guards in their class. For all the talk of Rubio vs. Evans around here and Rubio vs. Jennings in the press, the real rivalry going forward in the NBA might be Jennings vs. Evans.

Yeah that kind of concerns me. At least Brockmans consistent and doing his thing. JT should be doing some domination and Id expect some more out of Greene as well. Evans can be spectacular and it wont matter if other players aren't doing there job. Omri is understandable. But JT what the heck man.

JT had 9 fouls last game as well

Just not what you expect from a promising 2nd yr guy. JT was supposedly working with Truck Rob on how to improve his rebounding. But Brockman has been getting most of them while JT is not getting enough rebs. His shooting was bad at FTs too.

Tyreke is clearly the best player for the Kings of the summer league team even with JT included.

Gotta think these summer league games are frustrating to NBA starters. It's probably like playing playground ball with junior high schoolers as a senior in high school. You ever try that? Those junior high schoolers are like mosquitos, you gotta be afraid of stomping them, but they play their asses off to make you look like a fool. Plus everything is a foul. These games are way different from an NBA game.

I think Jason looks like he is more prepared for a game against grown, experienced, athletic, structured competition. I'm not really worried about it.
