Sure.....if they move to Anaheim. Amtrak station is 1/2 mile from my house now and it stops at the Pond!! And there is already a post-game train back.

Probably a fan no matter where they go tho' as long as in west.

Depends to where, and what the the terms are. If they go to somewhere that's not really relevant to me, and it smaks of Maloof sleaze, then I'd probably look elsewhere. If it's more of the city dropping the ball, then I wouldn't hold a grudge. My interest would definitely take a sizeable hit either way, however.
I think I fall along these lines - would really depend on why, and where, and how. So a very strong "maybe" from this camp. ;)

Id probably slowly lose interest. Especially since I wouldnt be able to watch them on tv anymore. Kinda like how I used to be a huge Atlanta Braves fan. But it's hard to be a fan now that they've taken them off of TBS. Oh well at least I still have my Niners...

I'd keep an eye on them for the rest of time but I wouldn't be a FAN. I'd still root for them against the Lakers though.

i would root for a team made up of Kim Jong il, Robert Mugabe, Omar Bashir, mahmoud ahmadinejad, and Nick Van Exel against the lakers....

(although i REALLY hate Nick van )

There is a reason alot of us became KINGS fans instead of Laker fans around here... Its because they were the Sacramento Kings... they represented Nor Cal. If I don't have someone representing me then I can't follow them unless the new city they are in somehow has a significance in my life... for instance I like the Detroit Redwings, not because they are always winning, but because I have tons of family who love the Redwings in Michigan and that is where I was first introduced to Hockey. Another problem arises even if I did remain a kings fan... we don't get locally televised Kings games anymore unless we pay for League Pass. Even if I decided to be a Kings fan after the move, I certainly wouldn't pay $100 to watch them. This in no way represents my fan loyalty to the current Sacramento Kings... I would probably pay $500 just to watch LAST season if there was no other way for me. I really hope the Kings don't move though, because they are pretty much the most important material (sort of) thing in my life.

I think a better question would be... "What would happen to the KingsFans Forum if the Kings move?"

Would the site remain running?
Would the members list drop?
Would it still be focused on the Kings even though they are in another city, possibly outside of state?
Would it be focused on the next team to enter Sacramento if and when it arrives?

Alot of questions would arise if this were to happen!

Not only would I not be a Kigns fan, I would stop watching the NBA.

Being a season ticket holder from 1990 to today, I would fell betrayed after giving financial support in the down years.

Oh, I would probably move out of sacramento county too. No reason to say close to the city anymore.

Hmmmmmmm this is a tough choice... I have always been a hardcore Kings Fan since I was 15(I am 28 now)... If they moved to say L.A. , I would be very very bitter... I have NEVER liked L.A. at all.. And after what happend in the playoffs back in the 01-02 season made me dislike the city of angels even more.. The Lakers, traffic jams, ignorant Laker fans, fake people, and smog filled air are the reason I dont like L.A.

If the moved to like San Diego, now that would be cool... I love S.D :D

I'm not a Kings fan because they're in Sacramento, so it's really not about where they are. But if they move the city, despite the support of the fans in the area, especially to somewhere like Las Vegas (which would make it clear that the move is about making money, not lack of support), it would bother me. I don't think Sacramento and its fans deserve to be stripped of their team, especially considering that they had the longest consecutive streak of home sellouts in NBA history. If the product is good, the fans will come; that's been proven in dramatic fashion.

So I answered maybe. I'm not a regional kind of guy (you know, the guy who roots for the local teams) for the most part. But I am about loyalty and appreciation. It would partly depend on where they move the team, how they do it, and the reaction of the fan base at home.

I was born in Houston, Texas and was a Rockets fan from day one. Back in those days I was more of an ABA than NBA fan. After moving to the Bay Area in late 60's became a San Francisco/Golden State Warriors fan but throw ABA Oakland Oaks in there just for the heck of it. When the Kings came to Sacramento I was here and they immediately became my team. But, if they move it will be back to square one, just not by choice. I'll be forced to find another NBA team, yet having been there before should not be all that hard adopting a new one or gravitating back to a former favorite.

as long as they dont move to socal then i would still be a kings fan, but what if a new team came to town and the kings moved to say seattle hmmmmm??

If they moved to the bay, I'd consider remaining a fan.

Anywhere else and forget it. There is value in rooting for the HOME team, part of the allure is watching the game, and when they succeed its "There go OUR guys winning with OUR name on their jerseys, they represent OUR city". If they move to say Anaheim of Las Vegas, I might as well just start rooting for players I like, or Cities that I like for arbitrary reasons. Once the connection with my home is gone, I'm done.

Additionally, it would probably be the death knell for my interest in the NBA. My interest is already down from perceived referee corruption and bias, so losing the home rooting interest might kill it outright.

I'm with Slim and Superman...I didn't become a fan because of Sacramento the city (never been there), but I have always appreciated the fan base that I've seen on TV and on this board. It all depends on why they would move, what the Maloofs did/didn't do, and what the city did/didn't do, so I answered "maybe."

If it was something like Sonics-Thunder, I'd say no.

If it was something like Charlotte Hornets-New Orleans Hornets, I'd say yes.

For the "maybe" and "no" voters, who would you root for instead of the Kings? I would probably choose between the Wizards (Washington DC is the US city I most consider as a home base, I have a lot of family and friends there), the Rockets (I'm an Adelman fan, I suppose) and the Bobcats (not sure why I like 'em, but I do).
