I don't want to waste another year or two. We have begun to clean house, we will continue to make moves this summer, and our young bigs are showing potential. We will get a good pick (should) and add another talented young guy to the roster. Things are starting to turn around.
The last thing we need is to bring in a coach that the players and fans don't respect with zero prior nba experience. This is when we need to make smart decisions and continue the rebuilding process. Otherwise, we will turn into the clippers. With the economy as bad at it is, and a number of good former nba coaches on the market, we could sign one for less than we would of had to pay in the last few off-seasons. This is the time to get a good coach with experience at a good price. Avery might be the only one that would ask for too much.
The young guys will continue to improve, and we will add more young talent this summer and on draft night. The best thing for a young team with talent is to hire a coach with experience who will TEACH and the guys respect. Whoever we bring in will be the 5th coach in 5 years. Enough of the coaching carousel. We need some stability in the organization for the young guys. Now is not the time to make another gamble. Best case scenario, we would all hope Whisenant could do an adaquete job if he was hired. But I don't think anyone is confident that the guy will come in a help turn this thing around in the next 2-3 years.
