Yeah me either. I really don't think Lewis will do much in NE.

Did Lewis play much ST in PHI? I mean, he was one of their top 2 wrs on the depth chart just a couple years back.

I don't know much about him to be honest. From what I know he is fast and has at least return potential. Coverage like Washington I have no idea. Maybe BB sees something special like he saw with Welker? He's got 3 years on his contract and is very affordable.

Springs will help out but they've never had a shut down corner (Assante was just as likely to get burned as he was to make a great play... plus he dropped the game clinching int), they still need to draft a corner on day 1 and hopefully shore up the pass rush to mask that weakness.
Asante Samuel was young still. I was watching the 2006 AFC Championship this morning, and Samuel made several big plays against Marvin Harrison and Peyton Manning, including the interception return in the first half. He's not Champ Bailey, but he's a good corner.

The Pats have six picks (?) in the first three rounds, so I would imagine that they get themselves some help in the defensive backfield, maybe not on Day One, but within the first three rounds.

Assante sure didn't help Philly against the Cards. I liked him but it was really hard to justify breaking the bank and treating him like a top 5 corner when he's in the next tier down. I'm sure the secondary will be just fine this year.

Oh yeah, he clearly got overpaid, but he's a good DB.

I have a hard time with all time lists, usually its easier to exclude someone by saying "I'll name you 10 guys better than X". I can't do that at the CB position so I'll accept Ty Law for now.

Bad? This is great news for Cowboys fans everywhere!! :D

;)
. I'm not familiar with the Cowboys defensive line, but it's gonna be interesting to see if Olshansky can still play as effectively without Jamal Williams in the middle. That guy commands so much attention. Either way this sucks for the Chargers.

Are you freakin' kidding me?!? That's a great fit for both parties. The Pats just drastically upgraded their secondary in the past week or so. First Springs, now Bodden. And it's not that either of them independently would have cured the Patriots secondary ills (Springs is a C, Bodden is B-), but together? That's a major improvement.

James Sanders should have a solid year, the front seven should be more effective at rushing the passer... I'm honestly upset about this.

I agree that the combo makes both deals better and if Bodden is coming in at the vet minimum they may still make some kind of move on Taylor or Peppers.

If those stories are true then I agree. It seems like the link had two conflicting reports from "inside sources".

Jay Cutler is an idiot.
Yeah, really. I read an article somewhere that made a very good point (might have been the one kn posted) that brought up the fact that the best players to ever play sports have been traded from their long-time teams (Favre, Gretzky, etc) and they never once whined about it, and Cutler's only been in the league a few years. The NFL is a business, first and foremost. You're a starting QB for a potential playoff team, grow up.

BTW kingsnation, what do you know about Kevin Burnett?

Favre is a big baby, I'd have used Montana who actually was one of the best QBs to ever play.

Gretzky demanded most of his trades so I'm not sure that counts for anything.

Well, now the word is that he's not going to show up for OTA's. We'll know for sure whether the stories are true or not if that happens.

At this point, though, what we do know is that he complained about Shanahan being fired, as if the owner of the team is required to run everything through the third year starting quarterback who's never been to the playoffs and has a sub .500 record (never mind the fact that said owner CRIED at the press conference because of how upset he was about the decision), he's bitched and moaned for two weeks now because his name came up in a potential trade (which trade did not happen), and now he might not show up for the first official team function with his new head coach... that's enough for me to make the above declaration.

And here's my problem: If you really care about winning, you do whatever you can to get past conflicts and misunderstandings for the sake of the team, so that you can actually have some success in your career. Especially as the quarterback. So, even if the Broncos (read: Josh McDaniels) were wrong to entertain the idea of trading their starting quarterback, the fact is that they DID NOT TRADE HIM. Perhaps they should have, because if we're still talking about how Jay Cutler is so upset with Broncos management a couple of weeks from now, then it's going to be a huge problem for the Broncos and their fans.

So maybe I'll reserve judgment until next week, when OTA's open up, but if Cutler isn't there, ready to work and set a proper example for his team, then all reservations go out the window, and he'll be an official idiot.
