Lakers discussion

Bynum will be there in the second round, and should be getting in game shape by then. I don't think they need him in the first round. Bynum, Gasol, Odom, Kobe, and Fisher... if that's small, then I don't know what a big team is. And Bynum is a pure back to the basket player. Gasol doesn't mind banging in the post either.

Fisher destroyed Parker in 3rd,Lakers are so gonna be on the 1st place before the playoffs.
Honestly, this was a first Lakers game I was watching live this season and they really seem strong.Kobe is playing like a crap in the 3rd and they still have 10 points lead. We'll see how things go in the 4th,but Spurs have no energy.

of course - not

For the lakers - it is much more important that Bavetta, Nies and Nunes are healthy

OK, this is ridiculous and you're utterly wrong in making such a statement. Listen good because I'm going to set you straight.

Nies is terrible for the Lakers. He doesn't read Stern's memos. I'd rather Garretson, Jr., who's been good to us. I remember when he whacked Sheed from a playoff game just for staring at him. He actually said, "Whack! Get out!" (mob terminology, hinting at his mob ties). I've got it on good source that Ronnie still works closely with a displaced agent who helped fix most our games for years (codename: "T.D.").

* Garretson, Jr. was the one Van Exel shoved in 1996. He evidently wasn't counteracting the other 2 refs and not only screwed up the spread, but caused LA to lose that night. Van Exel was reminding him who was paying his bonuses. Ronnie's performance that night also angered certain elements in the Gambino crew and "T.D." was forced to vouch for him in a sit down and Ronnie had to pay points to an underboss to avoid being whacked.

:eek::eek::eek:

PS: Bavetta (Italian) actually could've beaten Barkley in the race, but he was ordered to "take a dive" by the same Gambino underboss I mentioned above. Bavetta literally took a dive, did he not?

You know, I pictured Jack Nicholson reciting the monologue above ... and it was Oscar-worthy.

Nice job, Gargy.

You know what I like about you and 6th? At at least some point in that story, you were probably thinking, "He's finally admitting it..." ;)

Ohhhhhh, it's quiet here tonight.
You know, as much as I hate Lakers and want them to fail every step of the way, I got to give them props for pulling it together after the mess of the TDOS.

Now I'll go and punish my self for saying something positive about Lakers :)

Now just to balance it.... I hope they get to play Dallas and Kobe's knee goes Chris Webber on him.

I just wrote and deleted a paragraph, youll all thank me for sparing you. Denver is going to give them a run, literally. the 8th seed did it last year and its funny how things happen in pairs...I like denver, but the lakers should win the series and probably steam roll utah in the second round, i like harpring, but boozer is too small to deal with 7 footers and Kobe playing like hes 7 feet. And kirilenko is notoriously not-clutch(shooting the ball). PHX vs. LA in the WCF and PHX probably wins, they are the only team who has a pair of 7 footers who can at least match the lakers...its PHX's year, it has been for like 3 years. Boston can't beat detroit, i dont care how wrong i may be, I somehow know this to be true. Therefore Detroit Vs. PHX or LA....i like the lakers i hoope im wrong

Im with you on Detroit. I am taking Det coming out of the east. My pick for finals are Lakers over detroit or Phx over Boston. But my predictions as usual are not based on how well the teams are playing, its more around what stern and abc might want to do.

The much anticipated lakers vs celtics will have to wait for next year ;)

you only get credit for championships if you are the main star so sorry Kobe, but those are shaqs rings. Until you win one on your own you are just another everyday star player.

So are you saying Duncan could not replace Shaq?
yep.... shaq proved that when he went to miami that he could do it... but duncan and kobe wouldnt work if they were traded for each other. shaq, manu and parker would have eliminated the lakers with duncan on the squad because duncan wouldnt want to guard shaq and the lakers would not have a center.... maybe if it were after shaq went to miami but then the lakers wouldnt have much of a team.... they had no roleplayers and no depth at all to win a ring if that went down.... what would their starting lineup look like with duncan?

no fisher, smush was their pg....
kobe...
walton
duncan
mihm...

duncan on the lakers could win it all today, in fact that would be over kill. though the spurs wouldnt be that bad of a team with gasol and fillers to make up for the trade. though the lakers wouldnt have much depth... it would be traded for duncan.

those are shaqs rings... you could have replaced kobe for any other sg in the league at that time and they would still win. you dont think that they would have won with carter or mcgrady there instead of kobe?
