While stuck in traffic a few weeks ago, I got the idea to start another draft. I held off, however, because I was concerned that people were probably all drafted out and wouldn't be interested. Well, the interest in the video game draft, and the number of music hounds that apparently still have long lists to pick from, has inspired me to put out feelers for what I'm calling The Alternate Rules Music Draft Thread.
Tons of my most beloved albums/songs/artists were ineligible for the other Music Draft thread due to the content rules, and I started to wonder how different all the lists would look if those were suddenly lifted. I haven't written out official rules, yet, and likely won't unless it looks like people want to give this a shot, but the quick version is that it would follow the structure of Slim's draft exactly and differ only in content.
The content would be limited to full albums only (no singles or mix tapes), and would be open ONLY to the albums not allowed in the other thread -- greatest hits, boxed sets, compilations, soundtracks, comedy albums, etc. -- if it was allowed in Slim's thread, it's off limits here, and vice versa. Also, since it would undoubtedly come up as a question, boxed sets would follow the same basic rules as double albums in Slim's thread: if it was one multi-disc release (the only examples of which I can think of are ones I don't want to divulge, but I can clarify if necessary) then it counts as one pick, but if it is a compilation that was released in volumes (Now That's What I Call Music #34785940734, for example) each volume would be a separate pick. Also, each greatest hits album is seen as separate, even if it's for the same artist. If someone picks the comprehensive 4-disc Milli Vanilli boxed set, for example, you can still pick a different Milli Vanilli greatest hits disc, you'll just have to live with a few less alternate takes of "Blame it on the Rain."
If anyone is interested, or has any other questions, go ahead and respond here.
