Since Jerryaki has been on the clock for over 24 hours, I am going to go ahead and proceed with my pick to keep things rolling.
So, without further ado, in the 6th round of the Desert Island Music Draft, GoGoGadget selects:
Prince & The Revolution -- Around the World in a Day (1985) -- With "Purple Rain" already taken, sigh, its follow up album was my immediate choice for a replacement. Not as well known an
album as some of his others, it has its share of hits in "Raspberry Beret," "Pop Life," and "Paisley Park." From start to finish
(with the exception of one of my very least favorite songs ever), however, it captures Prince with his best band when they were still at their peak. "Tamborine" and the title track are especially good, and help make this my second favorite of Prince's catalog. And, as if that's not enough, in the last track Prince actually has an overwrought and unintentionally hilarious conversation with God after which he is flung, screaming, into hell. If that's not enjoyable, I don't know what is.
