I know talk is cheap, but I like the sound of what Martz said...Leaves me a bit more optimistic about the season...The way I see it, if either Alex or Hill can be decent, and we get a viable #1 wide receiver, we can have an above average to, heck, even good offense.
OB: Smith/Hill...The wildcard, IMO...Bad play in a Martz offense won't be pretty.
WR1: ???...I say look to aquire someone...Chad Johnson is said to be available? Or even down to a Bernard Berrian. A real threat who is at least somewhat of a game changer. Something I don't and can't see getting from Battle or D-Jax.
Possession Receiver 1: D-Jax...He can fill the possession role, and I think could flourish as the non-featured receiver. I see a big rebound from this sub-par year...Even if there's bad QB play.
Possession Receiver 2: Arnaz Battle...He's a luxury to have as a #3 guy...Definitely not good enough to be a number 1, borderline number 2, but as a 3...Looks good.
Home Run Threat: Ashley Lelie...I think with how Martz likes to wing the ball all over the place Ash is in for a huge rebound from his 2 year slumber of mediocrity.
The Feature: Frank Gore...Apparently the centerpiece. 2000+ all purpose yards?
The more I think about it, the more I like it...Especially if a big time receiver is brought in....Then you throw in Vernon Davis and the young offensive line getting a year older and hopefully better...On paper it could look good...
Man, it's gonna be a long wait.
