In a game that just resembled the NBA basketball - Kings finally sucked less than the opponent (Bucks) and snapped the mini losing streak improving to 8-12 and 8-4 at home. This win also prevented a possible losing streak of gigantic proportions since Kings will be in the East for the next 5 games in 8 days trying to improve their road record - the worst in the NBA at 0-8. Overall Kings hold the 10th worst record in the NBA which was where we were at the end of the last season
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Things have changed around here quite a bit in the last 3-4 years and there is nothing wrong with that. Dynamics of "fanhood" are fairly predictable and they are proportional to the success and quality of play and perspective. Not too long ago game threads have been exciting and one could feel the positive energy and hope all over the place. For example:

http://www.kingsfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=17196

I had some time to kill while watching the game last night - so I went to the archives and just read the thread again and it was like watching that great game again with the roller coaster of emotions. I simply miss that this season.
The game threads these days look like obituaries for the most part. The energy is missing, the excitement is absent the difference between wins and losses aren't drastic. Losing is hard and losing without purpose is unbearable. One thing that is essential is hope which fuels expectations. Right now - we are in that "both teams played hard, my man" mode.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have a new player on our roster. Dahntay Jones is in his 5th NBA season and in the previous 4 he accomplished - nothing. So - obviously I see no purpose tho this whatsoever. I realize that we are shorthanded when it comes to guards but that still isn't a reason to do something like this. All this guy has it athleticism and we need it - on other positions. This looks like some kind of desperate move again, something that is done on impulse without a plan. Sometimes - I think that we are recycling players just for sake of recycling. I hope that this guy proves me wrong and leaves a significant mark but I like my chances on this one.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Flopping seams to be a big part of the game these days. The development is shocking. We went from artists like Vlade and Reggie to copycats including Kevin to pathetic imitators like Cisco. Flopping isn't just problem in basketball. Soccer has been fighting it for decades and it is still a problem. Anyways, in Denver we were very upset about a no call that involved Cisco and that pretty much decided the game at the end. Couple days later against the Bucks - same guy just begging for a flop call. I was waiting for him to jump into a ref or a mascot just for a pair of free throws. Pathetic ! From now on any calls or noon calls on Cisco should be taken with a reserve because the credibility is missing. NBA should start calling technicals, giving fines and suspending players because it hurts the game big time
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Speaking of Cisco - here is where I use one of my favorite analogies. Imagine, You own a cow that gives You 15 gallons of milk per day but every time when process of milking is over - the cow kicks the bucket and spills the milk. When that keeps happening day after day - what do You do with the cow ? Where I come from - people eventually eat it because as good as it is - it is useless for anything else. It looks like Cisco will never learn it either. Maybe if we could implant a chip that will induce an electro shock every time he is about to make a retarded decision which we all see coming except him. There are many positive things about him, his game, his effort, attitude but at the end it all comes to one thing - one can't really trust him on the court.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
There sin't much one can say about our win against a horrible Bucks team that was at the end of the long losing trip on the West Coast. It was a poorly played game in which Bucks made more dumb mistakes down the stretch and we ended up winning it. We won the battle on the boards but missed too many FTs. Finally the bench production was even and that made a difference if there was any to begin with.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

TDM - went to Villanueva but it wasn't a major punch so that we were still able to win the game.

LW-VC award went to Mo Williams who was canceled by Beno

Mikki gets the JHA award after several decent performances just to remind us who he is.

Douby gets the RA&1 award for his limited play. Sometimes I think that he has more shots than touches

KT gets the SAR - Methuselah award because he has yet again proven that one can be consistently useless over certain amount of time over and over again.

WTF moment of the game - Cisco's acting attempt. Gives hope for Lindsay Lohan's Oscar dreams:rolleyes:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Celtics are next and we used to own the a bit in the last decade or so and now unfortunately it is a payback time. Best record in the NBA, unbeaten at home and best defensive team also. In one word the question isn't who will win - the question is - how bad will it be. Boston hasn't really had a bad game this season and it would be the biggest upset of all time but it would take our best vs' their worst for us to have chance. We will have problems guarding Garnett. Salmons and Artest should match up decent with the other two. If we were healthy - who knows.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron - too many bad shots
Mr Sexy - do it again
Beno - keep it up
Mikki - good luck and god bless You before fouling out
Brad - might put his hand on Garnetts head again

Douby - don't copy Cisco
Cisco - same old
Hawes - will get more experience
rest - garbage

Coach T - please leave KT where he belongs because it is too pathetic to watch.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
I didn't think that Celtics would be this good this fast but they are because the big 3 want to win and they play like a team and it shows. The supporting cast has also bought into it. We can expect that 2/3 will have their usual games and one of them will struggle. I expect Eddie House to win the TDM award. The LW-VC might go to Pierce. Kings will probably get the other rewards. At the end - a nice chunk of garbage time is expected but it was expected in Denver too and it didn't happen.

The ONLY purpose for Jones is to have SOMEONE off the bench besides Douby if 1 of Beno, Salmons, Garcia, or Artest gets hurt. Also with the situation of Ron's daughter he could miss games unexpectedly. Jones will be release upon return of Bibby and Martin maybe even just one of them.

Very visual image, piksi. Nice job...

ALright, cisco's flop was just stupid, but Kevin does it with skill, seeing as the opponent always jumps into him, which is a foul.

I was getting a little hopeful last night when Grant said Theus was putting in Williams. Unfortunately, it was that succubus PF#9 wearing a tricky headband that had fooled us all. Damn him.

piksi, while I enjoy your game threads, I particularly liked this one. Why? Because Francisco Garcia drives me nuts. He is a knucklehead. Good Cisco...bad Cisco...bad Cisco...Good Cisco. Ack!!!!!!!

Yea, that was funny, alright...

Thanks for that memory. Man that was funny. :D

Another good intro, Piksi.
...and the guilty smirk on Brad's face was priceless, too. I hope that they show a replay of that. I concur about Piksi's intro.

I'm sure that Brad "Hands-In-Face" Miller remembers, too. And that the new teammates have been regaled with stories about that, also. "Hands-In-Face" is a good Indian name for Brad, I'd think.

Go, Hands-In-Face, go!

Yeah, there actually is a good play in there where the shooter fakes and get the defender to jump into him. Kevin does that very well.

The problem is when the defender doesn't go for the fake, or jumps straight up instead of into the shooter. Kevin used to get those but I think the refs are looking more closely now and they're making sure there's real foul going on.

My only complaint is that the league hasn't cracked down and started to treat everyone equally. It's really a pretty obvious foul or non-foul most of the time.

This game kinda scares me, the NYK game keeps running through my mind........I hope the kings come hungry and try and make a run early. keep theus from matching garry st. jean's record. but 10-0 boston home record makes me alittle nervous.

We could get ruined -- they are that much better than us. But unlike the New York game, doubt they will have much motivatiuon against us (the Knicks had been talking ridiculous trash before that game), and the matchups for us aren't that bad. Garnett/Mikki is of course...comical. But otherwise our two best players, and likely two best defenders play directly across from the other two legs of their Big Three. So in a perfect drug indiced world Ron shuts down Pierce, Salmons counters Allne, and we only lose by the difference between KG and Brad let;s say (assumign Perkins and Mikki plat to a draw).

Then again, if for some reason they decided they did not like us, they cream us by 30. But for some reason if I squint and assume some complacency by Boston I could almost see us hanging around for a bit. We're one of those opponents you might naturally not take very seriously, and we matchup pretty well in spots.

I hate to say it but we will lose tonight. Boston is 10-0 at home and we are 0-8 on the road. I just hope for a close game and not a complete blowout. And if hell freezes over tonight we might win because thier winning streak cant last forever and our losing streak cant last forever. GO KINGS!!!!!!!!!

We have won 17/21 against the Celtics

Ok... :p

Those "have won" stats are always almost useless unless you are talking about two teams with very stable rosters. As is, whole new ballgame for everybody involved. Whole new arena too -- games at the Garden have eben fun to watch again with the crowd back into it. We are down at the bottom in road attendance and seem to inspire somnolence in opposing fans, but hopefully it will still be a fun + loud atmosphere at elast.

Maybe if we slip Garnett a Kobeburger....

One of my little pet peeves with Gary Gerould... "And the Kings are 310/430 all time against the Whomevers!!"

One of his standard totally meaningless stats.
