My rankings for the remaining 3:

1. Melinda - I kinds of agree with Paula. (I can't believe I just said that). Right now, Melinda is just being Melinda. Everyone here knows she can sing. She's been really consistent. I want to see her step it up and to catch my attention. Lately, its just been like "ok, she's not going to disappoint". Hope this makes sense.

2. Jordin - She gets better and better. I have to admit, the last few song choices haven't been that great, but I think she will be in the final 2.

3. Blake - He's unique with his beat box stuff and yes he can sing. But for me, he's kind of annoying.

1: Jordin --- I love everything about Jordin...She's a cutie, she's an air head, and to top it all off she's a great singer...My hope for the win.

2: Melinda ---
The pro...She just might not get the votes of the masses when against the much more user-friendly Jordin...Who knows, though.

3: Blake --- He deserves top 3, but he doesn't measure up to the top 2.

Blake was amazing tonight...I love everything about the guy and hope he can slip by Melinda into the finals.

And Jordin's final song was absolutely masterful! My God, what a voice that girl has!!!

1. Jordin
2. Melinda
3. Blake

Basically, this boils down to the girls, IMHO. But all three of them are going to have great careers.

I really like how Melinda nailed the Whitney song. When I heard she was going to be singing that song, I thought "uh, oh". However, she sang it beautifully.

I didn't care for the song Blake sang "Roxanne". I thought it was terrible. However, I thought he did real good singing "The Love".

I really think the finale 2 will be Melinda and Jordin.

My rankings

1. Melinda
2. Jordin
3. Blake

Going home - Blake

1. Melinda
2. Jordin (by a hair)
3. Blake

I think it is Blake's time to go, but he is the olnly male, so Jordin will be going home tonight. Blake will get the young female demographic.

man. its nights like these that make me wonder why i continue to watch this show. i'm not sure the person i've liked most in the top 12 has EVER won.

And once again I think too many people assumed Melinda would make it through to the finals and didn't vote...

In all honesty, I know Melinda, Blake and Jordin have great futures in front of them. Melinda will be fine.

I was talking and I said that I wouldn't be surprised either way...It could have easily gone either way.

And I think Jordin is the better singer of the two girls anyways, and with Blake we have a vastly different style coming into the final...IT should be fun to see what they come up with,

GO BLAKE!

Even though Jordin will win!

This is wrong!! Melinda was by far the most consistant from Day One. It's hard to compare a 17 year old girl to a grown woman. But the grown woman was by far the better singer of the three. America loses.

I agree that Melinda was the best vocally, but as I was watching the show I began to think that Jordin and Blake have more commercial appeal.

America isn't going to lose a thing. Melinda Doolittle is going to be a big star. She's already a household word and she won't need to be known as the 2007 American Idol to make her mark on the music industry.

As I've said often before, Melinda, Jordin and Blake were truly a cut above everyone else, with the possible exception of Lakisha (who just seemed to lose the hunger as time went on). Any of them would have been acceptable to me as the winner.

I'm sorry but you do not know what you are talking about. My sister and mother completely disagree.

Sincerely,

Sunjaya Malakar
And don't forget about the little girl in the audience who sobbed with every Sanjaya performance.

;)

So, the oddest thing happened yesterday as I was watching the show....I wasn't all that happy. I mean I heard the news and I never did like Melinda, but I watched the show and I felt sorry for her, sorry for AI fans and her fans. She was so professional and gracious about it. And for that, I say good for her. :)

Why should you feel sorry for her? She wasn't sorry that she was eliminated.

I understand exactly what Reina is saying. Even if someone didn't really care that much for her, Melinda handled the whole thing with a lot of class. And I'm sure Melinda was disappointed. How could she not be?

Anyway, the point is we're now down to Jordin and Blake and I think it's going to be interesting to see how they handle the final competition.

M. Dolittle should have been the next American Idol....never in the bottom 2 right?
Just a class act with so much stage presence & what a voice.
She will have a very bright future.
Props to the other contestants, they do have that youth & appeal.
For me, I don't care who wins it now...I'm with Simon, I wanted my girl Dolittle in the final.
All night it seemed like Simon was moody, not his fiesty self...I beleive somehow he knew the results?

For me It's Dancing with The Stars now....Go Lalia!

Right now I think it's Jordin's title to win or lose. I'm looking forward to their last performances. Blake has continued to improve, and I was pleased to see that he listened to the advice of Randy and Simon, and cut back on the beat box stuff a little. He has a great voice...

I'm thinking this is just about the best final two I can remember.

Thats exactly what I meant :) I heard her on a radio interview this morning and I truly wish her all the best.

NOTE: I've removed the spoilers.

Wow.

The first round was incredible. Between Blake's showmanship and Jordin's voice this is the BEST finale I think they've had, bar none.

They are both going to have incredible careers. I honestly don't think I could choose between them. It would be like trying to choose between Shania Twain and Bon Jovi. (Two of my all-time favorites in different genres.)

After two rounds, I have to give the edge to Jordin. She really stepped it up for tonight and has blown the roof off the joint with both her first and second selections. With the original songs coming up, I hope her final song doesn't pull that down...

Jordin or Blake? Blake or Jordin? It all depends if you like ice cream or cake. Or you can have both the cake and the ice cream.

My point is it seems that Simon and Randy made it a point to emphasise that American Idol is a singing contest, and that the best singer was Jordin. I have to respectfully and vehemently disagree that Idol is a singing contest, because if it was, they would not be showing those bafoons in the try outs. In concept Idol is a singing competition. But in reality, we all know that this is about entertainment and performance as well as singing. And in my view, Jordin is a singer and a good one. Not great. However Blake is a great, great performer and a growing singer. BLAKE IS HANDS DOWN THE WINNER AS FAR AS I AM CONCERNED. But we all know that will not happen.

Think about last year Taylor Hicks and Kathrine McPhee. McPhee was the better singer, but it was Taylor that captivated the crowd and won the competition, not because he was a wonderful singer. It was about his stage presence on top of his talent.

To me, this was a down year for Idol. The talent was not as good as in the past, the performances on a whole were very vanilla and at times inconsistant. If Jordin Sparks wins, as expected as far as talent she falls behind every other winner. It will be interesting to see how her talent will translate to the masses.

I just hope tonight's show can put a huge exclamation point on a rather average season.

Blake winning would be a joke. Jordin is more marketable, a better singer, and much more enjoyable to listen to. We live in the world of CD's, Mp3's, etc, not live music. Who would you rather listen to?

And yes, idol is a singing contest. Its also an entertainment contest. I'm far more entertained with someone with a nice voice (Jordin).

Last year it was about Taylor and Kathrine. That worked out well for Taylor.

I agree that Jordin will win. I completely disagree that she is more marketable!! Jordin can sing, but she is boring. She is marketable how? Because she is young? Because she.....what? Though we live in a world of MP3, CD and recorded music, we also live in a world of You Tube, MTV and videos that are used to market songs. Jordin is a stand still singer in the mold of Whitney Houston. Every other pop star can dance and has a particular look (i.e. Fergie, Gwen Stephani). The days of the stand behind the microphone and blow type singers are of the past. You've got to have a niche, an edge, an act that people can see.

I agree she'll win. I also agree she's boring, she just stands there on stage most of the time, but I imagine they'll fix that. She's "marketable" in the sense that she's young and mendable. They'll get her dance coaches and vocal coaches (imho her vocals are way overrated, not that any of that matters in this day of ProTools). No doubt they'll have her losing weight as soon as she wins like they did with Carrie and Kelly. The producers need her to win so they can produce an album of tripe like "My Moment is Now" or whatever the crap that song was. That was so awful they didn't even try to hide it when critiquing Blake. Can you imagine what the other songs must have been like? Why can't they actually use legitimate hit material instead of some crappy coronation song? I think the best thing that can happen to Blake is not winning tonight.
