Kings/Phoenix Trade

If Phoenix gets Atlanta's Pick

Kevin Martin and Shareef and our Pick for Leandro Barbosa and Atlanta's Pick

We get a PG and a Big in the Draft . Which is exactly what we need. Phoenix gets another top quality starter and help off the bench to help them win in the immediate future . Do you think Phoenix would do it? Would Kings do it?

Kings could build team around Barbosa and Big ( Horford , Wright , or Hibbert ) and continue to shop are Vets ( Bibby, Artest, Miller ) this offseason. Then Petrie could do what he does best, and bring in some SG/SF's.

So we give up our best player to take a chance on some big guy that might not even work? I would pass, Barbosa is pretty damn amazing, but i see this team working around Martin at this point.

I like the deal for us but I don't think Suns go for it.

pho doesnt do it. in case no one noticed, nash is getting old. the whole poitn of pciking up banks was to get someone to replace nash after hes gone. turns out, barbosa fits the bill. take a look at their players. after nash is gone, everyone still is in their prime. barbosa is in their long term plans after nash.

... theyll give you banks though

I might do that, although Barbosa is a tweener who might look far better in Phoenix's system than anywhere else.

Consider this:

Leandro Barbosa, age 24:
18.1pts (.476, .434, .843) 2.6reb 4.0ast 1.2stl 0.2blk

Kevin Martin, age 24:
20.4pts (.475, .383, .846) 4.3reb 2.2ast 1.2stl 0.1blk

and so you then basically are swapping Reef for a good lottery pick this season. That would be hard to pass up.

Problems are that a) as mentioned, Barbosa might be better in Phoenix than he would be elsewhere -- at 6'7" Kevin is the more universally applicable OG, whereas Barbosa is always going to be a tweener; b) Barbosa has had the opportuntiy to work in the shadows of a completely stacked team, as a primary option one does wonder how those %s would hold up; but c) mostly though, I doubt Phoenix does it. They love Barbosa, for good reason. And now they should have a good shot to add a running big man ala Jianlin or Noah to their already stacked young frontcourt and maybe have a chance to get themselves set up for a long long run as an annual playoff team/contender.

If we did trade Martin I would hope to somehow get a big man back, since it would also be a complete change in direction.

I suppose that could be the draft pick, but that's a bit risky.

Also agree with Brick about Barbosa being a Suns system kind of guy.

I'd bet the farm on that one.

no way.

Kevin Martin is much better then Barbosa. Sure the stats are similar, but the big picture is that Martin got his numbers pretty much on his own. He didn't have the 2-time MVP setting him up as well as multiple All-Stars to distract the defense.
