Okay, as long as you know what you're doing, I don't have to worry. Just let me (us) know when it's time to rank them again.

:p

Kingsfans.com American Idol Power Rankings (after Week 2)
1. Melinda Doolittle (5) - 66

2. Blake Lewis (1) - 61
3. Lakisha Jones (1) - 40
4. Jordin Sparks - 53
5. Chris Sligh - 40
6. Phil Stacey - 34
7. Gina Glockson - 30
8. Chris Richardson - 20
9. Haley Scarnato - 14
10. Sanjay Malakar - 12

Biggest Rise - Chris Sligh +3

Note: Seems like a lot of us really liked Chris Sligh's performance. According to reports, next week's mentor will be (drumroll, please) MS. GWEN STEPHANI!! "The Original Hollaback Girl" . As the contestants go Pop.

Can she sing good enough to mentor anybody????

I actually like Gwen Stephani. Of course, I'm old. It could be she reminds me of some of the singers my mom listened to when I was growing up... And she also has incredible performance skills. Could be interesting.

A couple predictions.

Blake will blow the rest of the field out of the water in a pop-version of the show.

HE will be followed by Chris R. and as much as I don't like to say it, Sanjaya...The pop in them will truly shine through.

The best singers of the group (Jordin, Lakisha, and Melinda) might have some trouble with this...Will they be able to pick it up and go pop?

Should be interesting.

Of the three ladies, I suspect Jordin will have the least difficulty with a pop song. I do agree that Blake just might blow everyone away...

I am feeling all a flutter. 25 minutes to go.

I wouldn't be surpised if Melinda is awesome tonight. I think she can do anything.

Blake and Jordan will shine.

It all depends on the song chosen from the lists given. While I may think a certain song sounds great in my voice, a friend may tell me it sounds and looks different from the audience, be it they key is wrong, or they style is just not right for me. I am not good at rock. My voice just doesn't suit it. Yet, Gospel, Jazz, Showtunes and Opera all sit well in my voice and it's range and training. It all depends.

I missed it tonight. How was it?
LaKisha - Last Dance - Much better costuming; enthusiastic but some pitch problems. Simon was way too kind, IMHO. She was good but not as good as she could have been.
Chris S. - Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic - He, too, looks better this week. I didn't think it was anywhere near as bad as Randy, Paula and Simon made it out to be.
Gina - I'll Stand By You - Another very good performance by Gina, who seems to be improving every week. She's still the rocker girl but she's marketable.
Sanjaya - no idea what the song is - Okay, that's enough. He and his hair need to leave...now. It was hard for me to tell if he hit any of the right notes but it sounded horrible to me.
Hailey - True Colors - Possibly the best she's done yet. And she took Gwen's advice and took out a lot of the extra stuff. But it just wasn't something special.
Phil - Every Breath You Take - I liked it. Nice change of pace. I think he has a lot more potential if he'll only tap into it.
Melinda - Heaven Knows - And once again, she sounds like the professional doing a guest shot on the show. She has taken her performances to a level far above anyone else.
Blake - not familiar with the song - Nice to see him do a ballad. He reminds me a lot of Sting.
Jordin - Hey Baby - Talk about going outside her comfort zone. Good solid performance and she just keeps getting better, too.
Chris R - Don't Speak - Another nice performance but tough to rank. I figure he's second among the guys.

I ranked each person as the performances were done. Then I compared the next person to those who had gone before and ranked them accordingly. Here are my reactions, based solely on tonight's performances:

1. Melinda
2. Blake
3. Jordin
4. Chris R.
5. Phil
6. LaKisha
7. Gina
8. Chris S.
9. Hailey
10. Sanjaya

My prediction is we've seen the last of Hailey.

I was extra not feeling it tonight. Outside of Sanjaya who I'm fairly certain will be safe I thought the 3 worst performances were Haley, Chris S and Gina. I thought Jordin was pretty bad though but mostly it was an awful song to sing.

Gwen was utterly useless compared to Peter Noone and Lulu last week. I don't know why she was so covered in makeup and shot in soft/filtered focus it was just odd. Is she aging that badly?

What a waist of time. How boring. Sure there were some standouts like Melinda and Laksisha and I really liked Phil, but the others were forgetabble.

Ok so the list.

Laksiha-What a lucious voice she has. Not her best performance but even her worst is better than half up there.

Chris S-Horrible. Hard to listen to. Way ahead of the music. Just wasn't his night.

Gina-I liked it a lot. She sounded fantastic. I would've liked to hear that rock edge in her voice more in the song, but she was very good.

Sanj-OH MY GOSH. I peed my pants laughing so hard when I saw him. The boy can sing though. That is what makes me sooo mad about him. He has a nice voice, he just doesn't know how to use it. Loved Simons comments.

Hailey-Eh. Who cares. I don't even remeber her all that well other than the fact she looked great.

Phil-REALLY liked him last night. Great song for his voice and he didn't push it. Thankfully wore a hat. Handsome fellow with a hat on. Best voice of the men, but doesn't have the charisma that Blake does.

Melinda-Perfection. She makes it look effortless. She is a star.

Blake-Not his best vocal, but I just like him. He has true talent and knows how to use it. He will go far.

Jordin-Didn't like it at all. Sounded all over the place. She didn't have control. Least favorite song she has done.

Chris R-Sure he is cute. We get that, but that is about it. He has no stage presence. Doesn't know how to emote a song, and his voice leaves A LOT to be desired.

Gwen Stefani-BORING!!! What a let down.

So underwhelmed last night. The preformances were all forgettable, you'd think this would be their time to shine with such an open genre to choose from.

My list for last night

1. LaKisha
2. Blake
3 A TIE Melinda
3 A TIE Jordin
5. Chris R
6. Phil
7. Gina
8. Chris S
9. Sanjaya
10. Hailey

SLAB

Hall of Famer
Laksiha- (A) --- Proved me wrong last night...Definite bounce back from last week where I didn't like her one bit.

Chris S- (F) --- Not his night...See ya, Chris.

Gina- (A) --- I knew she could do it...I love her look, and I love her voice...One of the performances of the night here.

Sanjaya- (C) --- He's going to be a pop star no matter what happens in the competition. He wasn't terrible either.

Hailey- (D) --- She's just kind of there to me...She's nothing special.

Phil- (B+) --- He sung his song perfectly. I like Phil a lot.

Melinda- (A) --- Great performance....Agree with Simon on the outfit.

Blake- (B-) --- I didn't like the performance...HE seemed toned down from what he normally does, and when you're trying to make an impression, thats not a great idea.

Jordin- (C+) --- Deffinatly the most pop of the night, and I think she pulled it off pretty good. Not her best performance though.

Chris R- (C) --- Other than when he did "Geek in the Pink" he has done absolutly nothing to impress me.

Gwen Stefani- (Hot) --- Oh my goodness she is absolutly beautiful without her stage hair and makeup on!

Rankings...

1: Melinda (The best)
2: Blake (It's close but I got the Blake-bias)
3: Lakisha (Great bounce back performance)
4: Gina (I knew she was good)
5: Jordin (Didn't do enough)
6: Phil (He's good, but easily outshined)
7: Sanjaya (He's entertaining and better than some others)
8: Chris R. (Should be following Chris S. back home in the following weeks.)
9: Haily (Nothing special)
10: Chris S. ( See you later)

I was very disappointed in last night's show. I had great anticipation of some great performances, instead I got a bunch of mediocrity, including from the front runners. To me being an American Idol means that you captivate an audience, you command the stage, when you perform your audience can't take their eyes off of you. That did not happen last night vocally or performance wise. With that said.....

PERFORMANCE OF THE NIGHT - Gina Glocksen (B)
The best of the bad, and that is not saying much. However it was her best performance to date. She stood and sang and sang well!! She came out of her comfortable "rocker chick" vibe. She sang with extreme confidence and should move up in the rankings.

Lakisha Jones (B-)
It was just OK to me. She sang the song well, but nothing that stood out. The judges loved it better than I did, and I am a fan of KeKe. i have loved her since day one. She was professional last night and that was it.

Chris Sligh (D)
THAT WAS BORING!!! I am a Police fan, and he was no where near where that song should be. The judges talked about rhythm. Dude has none. In order to be a performer, you have to be able to have feel of the beat. His beat was all over the place.

Sanjaya Malakar (F+)
 If I did not know any beter, I would think that this cat wants to go home, and I think America should oblige. This is how bad it was, this Mo-fo forgot his words AND THE JUDGES DIDN'T EVEN CALL HIM OUT ON IT!!!! All he is trying to do is bring attention to himself, and has officially made a mockery of this group. Side Note: According to reports, Gwen Stephani approached AI producers to convince Sanjaya not to sing a No Doubt song. But it was too late and he sang it anyway.

Haley Scarnato (C-)
If she worked as hard on her vocals as she does on her wardrobe, she would have this competion on lock. I wish I could understand what she is singing. She mumbles and her voice has no depth. True Colors by Cyndi Lauper is one of those songs that has an emotion that needs to come out. That did not happen.

Phil Stacey (C)
Average. Forgettable. Another Sting/Police song and he "safed" his way through.

Melinda Doolittle (B)
See Lakisha comments (but with a tad more energy). She was extremely professional, but it just did not move me. It didn't make me want to get up and shake my groove thing. Too me she kind of dated and aged herself. But she sang well and that is what counts.

Blake Lewis (B-)
Good. low energy, compared to past performances. You can have energy while singing a balad. It was not there. It was not a Blake-like performance, when he had every opportunity to do so. Maybe I have raised the bar so high that he can't reach it every week.

Jordin Sparks (B-/C)
She looked good. Little pichy, but I will say she brought some hipness to an otherwise ordinary night. Overall OK.

Chris Richardson (C)
He had the mailroom look last night. As far as his performance......again it was just OK for me (in the words of Randy Jackson).

PREDICTED BOTTOM THREE - Phil, Haley and Sanjaya

GOING HOME - Phil

Haley and Sanjaya has not gained elimination momentum just yet, but I believe they are seeing the beginning of the end and we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

No I am not. He has a voice. It's a nice voice. It's just a nice little tiny, teeny weeny voice. He has no power and no training. Get some training into that young man and he could be good.
I agree. And until last week his biggest problem was stage presence and confidence on stage not actual vocal ability (and keep in mind that the producers have pretty much left Sanjaya's voice naked whereas they've loaded other singers with reverb and echo to make them sound fuller). He was not having fun on stage and it showed which is what really made him look awful. Last week he seemed to throw all that out the window and stopped trying to sing well but have fun instead. Frankly I'd rather see him go out that way... and who knows maybe at some point he can put it all together and deliver a decent performance. I think his fans will save him for another 2-3 weeks at worst. Those who supposedly know the true voting numbers have Sanjaya consistently around 4th place in the voting. Of course since Fox won't release the real voting numbers we have no clue how much credibility they have.

My list for last night:

1. Melinda - As everyone knows, she's been my pick since day 1.
2. Jordin - She improves every week and last night she sang really good.
3. Lakisha - She didn't really impress me, however, the girl can sing.
4. Blake - He's been the best male out of all of them.
5. Gina - I thought it was her best performance.
6. Phil - He sang pretty good.
7. Chris R. - He was just ok. Sometimes, I forget he's still part of the group.
8. Haley - She's was ok. Nothing great. I do think she's in the bottom 3.
9. Chris S. - He was not good at all last night and could be in trouble
10. Sanjaya - No comment.

Predicted bottom three: Sanjaya (PLEASE), Haley, and Chris S

Sanjaya For Another Week

I would think that the AI producers are on edge the longer this kid goes on.

Think about the backlash, if Ryan Seacrest stands on the Kodak Theatre stage in May and says......"The Winner of the 2007 American Idol is.........SANJAYA MALAKAR!!!!!" uggggggghhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!

I can see it now, Simon Cowell will walk out of the thetre never to grace the stages of American Idol again. What in the bloody hell is America thinking. Anyway here is my Top 9 after 3 weeks:

1. Melinda
2. Lakisha
3. Blake
4. Jordin
5. Gina
6. Phil
7. Chris R
8. Haley
9. Sanjaya

NOTES: Your rankings is how you want it to be. Ideally it is ranked who is your American Idol winner to this point, not so much based on your one week performance. But it is up to you, JUST RANK!!!!!:D

Okay, here are my season-to-date rankings:

1. Melinda
2. Blake
3. LaKisha
4. Jordin
5. Gina
6. Phil
7. Chris R.
8. Haley
9. Sanjaya

As far as Sanjaya goes, it's not what America is thinking. It's what the pre-pubescent girls with access to cell phones and way too much free time in the evening are thinking. He's getting the teeny-bop vote big time because he's just so durned cute.

Isn't Sanjaya xstill the target of the "Vote for the Worst" folks. I really don't think he is having much fun anymore. You can tell he is hurt when he keeps getting abased by the judges on national TV. I feel sorry for him, becasue I think he'd like to be eliminated, but idiots are keeping him on.

By the way, I too see potential in his voice. Its just clear he has no voice training and he certainly had minimal performance experience coming in. With training, he could be quite a nice singer, I think. And he is cute and seems like a very nice young man. I just wish those voting for him would end his suffering.

Actually I think the opposite is true. Originally at one time I think he took this seriously and took the criticism to heart. Now I think he's resigned himself to the fact that he's not as good as everyone and is just letting loose. His ridiculous hair choices, the fact that he's willing to joke around with Simon, etc..

I think he may want to be eliminated but he's making the most of his run right now. The hair and clothing styles are all generating an image and reputation that will only help him. I mean who's the one guy anyone can name from idol, it's sanjaya. He'll be on every late night show when he gets the boot and he could probably write a book and make millions if he's smart enough.

My rankings to date.

1: Blake (He's not the best singer of the group, but he's the best performer)
2: Melinda (Best singer bar none)
3: Lakisha (Great voice, but she's not quite at the Blake/Melinda level, IMO)
4: Gina (She reminds me 100% of Kelly Clarkson)
5: Jordin (She could be flipped with Gina, it's a matter of personal taste)
6: Phil (I really like him, he's just not top-tier)
7: Chris R. (Other than "Geek in the Pink" he's been a perennial bottom-dweller for me)
8: Sanjaya (At least he's distinguished from the crowd)
9: Haley (Booooooring....)

I agree. 2 weeks ago he looked miserable but he came out last week and decided screw it, I'm having fun. This week was even better. I think he's accepted what/who he is in this contest. He didn't look embarassed to be safe last night like he did in prior weeks. The best part is that he's actually come out of his shell and is exhibiting some type of stage presence even if his vocals have suffered horendously. Off stage he does have a nice voice that he is still growing into and as bad as he's been he was better in the audition rounds then a good percentage of the male semi-finalists. There's a good chance that in 2 or 3 years he actually puts it all together.

I really don't mind him hanging around until the "real" competition starts which only includes about 4 contestants this season - Melinda, LaKisha, Jordin and Blake. I suspect that one of those will get a shocking early boot, probably LaKisha who the judges seem to be knocking down a few pegs in comparison to Melinda. They also seem really intent to push Chris R as Blake's male competition so I wouldn't be surprised to see him crack the top 5.

I think Chris Sligh got a little too full of himself and his superior "strategy" that he's been talking about and it turned everyone off. He really should have kept his mouth shut about it and focused on properly learning the rhythm of the songs. When Paula is able to make a technical criticism of your singing 3 weeks in a row you know you've got a problem. Sadly Chris brushed it off week after week and paid the price.

Kingsfans.com American Idol Power Rankings (after Week 3)
1. Melinda Doolittle (4) - 56

2. Lakisha Jones (1) - 51
3. Blake Lewis (1) - 49
4. Jordin Sparks - 47
5. Gina Glocksen - 34
6. Phil Stacey - 31
7. Chris Richardson - 25
8t. Haley Scarnato - 16
8t. Sanjay Malakar - 15

Biggest Rise - Gina Glocksen +2

Notes - I am looking for big nights tomorrow from Lakisha, Melinda, Sanjaya and Jordin. It is Tony Bennett Night. Tony Bennett has that big 'ole voice and the females here fit right into that genre. Sanjaya has a smooth voice that could fit in as well. Those that may struggle include Blake, Chris, Gina and Haley. They all have smaller voices that could struggle. Phil may be in the top group, it all depends on his consistancy.
