Another useless woss.
------------------------------------------------------------------------

On March 30th 1999 Kings beat Jazz @ ARCO in overtime 104-101 to improve to 14-17 for the season. It must have been a wierd game. Webber didn't play, Vlade didn't make a FG, Corliss was held scoreless, Kings starters combined 5-30 from the field but Kings still won the game. It was a game where Kings bench scored 83 points and Mad Max and Pedja combined for 59. Maxwell lead the Kings with 33/1/1/3, Pedja had 26/2/3/4, Pollard had 11/11/2st/4bl, Hawkins also had 11/2/7. Starters didn't contribute much except Vlade who went 0-9 from the field but ended up with 8/13/6/3/2.

"I'm kind of like the old 'Field of Dreams' saying, 'If you play me, I will do good,'" Pollard said

"We certainly miss Chris, but as long as he is out, we know we have to work that much harder and try to step it up to make this team win some games," Stojakovic said. "Tonight, the bench was able to carry the team."

Maxwell connected on 6-of-9 3-pointers, Stojakovic hit 5-of-8 and the Kings finished 15-of-30 from beyond the arc. Stojakovic had four 3-pointers and Maxwell added a pair in the third, when Sacramento set a team record with seven 3-pointers.

"I'm so used to being a cheerleader," Pollard said. "I've been one for 30 games this season and most of last year, so this is definitely different for me."

"To come in here with a team that had just lost three out of five and who happens to be one of the best in the league, you know they're going to be ready," said Kings coach Rick Adelman said. "We talked about it before the game and I said it doesn't matter who's out there. If you can compete, good things will happen, and the second group competed."
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
After a deserved woss in a rematch against the Suns Kings improved to 30-40 for the season and surrendered the 8th lottery spot to the Blazers. Kings still 2-8 in the last 10 and 6-8 in March - have minimal PO chances being 4 games behind Clippers with 12 games to go. Now Kings have 4 days off to watch other teams winning and losing and then doing some "complicated" calculations. After all math has been done and the "enter" has been pressed the answer will be the lottery and the question is how high the pick could be.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
If You are still hoping for the 9th consecutive PO appearances - I will have to disappoint You because - it won't happen unless the NBA come up with NIPOT - (not in PO tournament). Sure there is mathematical possibility and sure stranger things have happened but not this time. I was looking at schedules of Clippers, Hornets, Warriors and Wolves and Warriors have the hardest schedule of all. Other problem for us is that those teams will be playing each other which means that some of them will win games and even if we split them between all of them each team would at least win 2 games. Additionally - we have to expect that some of the better teams will "rest" their guys when they wrap up the PO position. Bottom line Kings will have to go 10-2 and beat Clippers twice to just even out Clippers going 6-6. That is just the team that is currently in the 8th spot. We play Clippers twice, Hornets and Warriors and we would have to win all 4 of them plus many other things would have to go our way. Much much easier to lose all 12 games and have a decent chance for a top 5 pick.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
This gets us to a 4 days rest and a game against Clippers which is a "must woss" to keep our chances alive and a "must lin" to provide much needed euthanasia. Are we going to be ready or rusty ? Are we going to meet the challenge or choke just like we did against the Nuggets. Can muss prepare the team (rhetorical) to approach this like game 7 in the PO series considering that Muss has no clue what PO looks like ? Can Bibby do it again ? Too many unknowns bu we do have on thing going for us - we do play Clippers.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
And we do have the teams that wants to win, that plays hard most of the nights. Sure, there isn't enough talent, size, leadership and coaching to win consistently but the will is there. Obviously many of us wish that they would quit already before ruining the already small chance for a great draft pick. Still can't fault players for trying hard and also You can't fault their delusion about their chances to get 4 extra games against the Mavs. Unfortunately for them it is just too little too late.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Ron might retire - and who really still care ? I am not even going to make an argument here because it isn't worth it since he has 0 credibility for anything he says about anything (perfect politician). We should just make sure that this all circus stops being our concern before the next season starts. There are still teams that would trade for a unstable guy with a "criminal" track record threatening to retire. Pacers managed to find someone to unload him and we should be able to.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scouting reports - I was always wondering what they look like considering all the obvious mistakes that we constantly make game, after game, after game. So obviously I contacted my sources and obtained some information that I will share with You.
that was the scouting report on Leandro Barbosa

here is a page about rebounding

Muss famous 7 point play

Kings defensive schemes
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Coach's corner is sponsored by whomever - who hired him. We woss a game so there must be things he didn't do wrong. Barbosa did score 17 straight points at one point in the first half and I was thinking - is anyone eventually going to at least contest a shot ? On the bright side Muss finally realized what is KT's natural position. Took him 70 games. It was the best game KT had in a long, long time.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Kings woss the game showing that they can make adjustments but also proving how hard it is to sweep a home and home sequence this season. Kings played inspired BB and ARCO went nuts when Bibby unleashed a barrage of threes to answer all Suns had to offer and then some. If we ignore the whole situation - it was a great effort. Kings played small ball but rebounded well and even when Kevin went down - it didn't rattle us. Kings also survived a Suns run in the 3rd quarter. Must have been a national TV game.
----------------------------------------------------------------------
AWARD TIME

Leandro Barbosa as expected swept the TDM in the 4 games we played the Suns this season. I could give You his averages but it really is to depressing. Saying all this - I would love to have him on my team.

LW-VC award went to Jalen Rose. No big deal really but I just like to give it to him.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Clippers are next and it is on national TV which means that I have to issue

WALTON ALERT !
maybe we will get lucky but just be prepared for the worst.
Also there is a hgame in LA between Rockets and Lakers so BSPN may change things. Other than that - we used to own Clippers but this season series is tied. It is simple really - we have to woss if we want to keep the PO hopes alive. Should be doable considering that their starting PG is - You guessed it right - Jason Hart. Clipps have bunch of tall players which will cause us additional problems
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Mike - do it again
Kevin - get well soon
Ron - stop takling already
Brad - stay off Your foot
SAR - good luck
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Cisco - lots of heart
Price - energizer
Slamons - nice
Corliss - rules
-------------------------------------------------------------------
rest mateen
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Muss - kool aid flavor of the night - brackish water
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Clipps used to be our property. Golum won't play but Brand/Caveman will. Magette will cause us troubles also. TDM goes to Jason Hart and I dare You to predict someone else. LW-VC award will be reserved for a Kings big man. We really don't need this one but it is the Clippers and it looks like a woss streak

i was wrong about kenny thomas. that's a true professional. making the sacrifice; understanding his role; riding the bench; giving his team a better chance to win.

Remember the streak When kings won like 30 games straight over the clippers . Is It the streak still alive or did it recently end. Anyways, hopefully give some PT for some young players for the future .

I didn't want to start a new thread for this, but Aldridge has a piece on Artest and the Kings on NBA.com if you want to listen before the game starts (our during if it becomes painful.)

well. this has been kind of unpleasant.

will there be some sort of rip in the spacetime continuum if the inspiration for the JHA wins the TDM?

Well, that was ugly.

Boy, Kevin sure is in a slump since he won WC Player of the Week. He may be playing himself right out of the MIP award. :(

Exactly my concern.
well, it sounds like the clippers announcers don't feel like he is. and unfortunately they made a good point. his main competition - monte ellis and deron williams - are on teams that have done something this season. (if the warriors get into the playoffs i guess)

so even if he snaps out of his current slump. the team may destroy his chances. :(

But that's just the thing. It should have nothing to do with what the team is doing. In fact, it might be harder to show much improved, as an individual, when your team is playing poorly.

I can see team performance for an MVP, but should not be a factor with MIP.

i totally agree that it shouldn't. but maybe it weighs on people subconsciously. hopefully not. who even decides who wins anyway?

Its not a huge huge factor so far as I can recall from previous winners, but I'm sure there's always going to be a little bit of the "is he helping" question, and I think also a phobia about not wanting to annoint a guy who is just putting up good numbers on a bad team.

Regardless, I think Ellis should actually win the award. Guy has come out of nowhere to be a major factor. Williams is the obviosu impact guy. Kevin may be more talented than either (or at least Ellis), but not sure that will carry the day.
