Kstat and TurkeyStraightUp - It's truly bittersweet to watch your belief in Webber grow as your team really starts to gain momentum. I can't help but think you'll peak right at the most opportune time. And for that period of time, I hope you'll let this Kings fan call herself an honorary Pistons fan.

It really does my heart good to see Webb rising like the Phoenix from the ashes and even, in some ways, exceeding the heighths he reached with the Kings.

Thanks for sharing your comments even though they do almost always bring a bit of a tear to my eye.

WORD!!! Me Too! Amen!!!

:D

What a great game. Flip Murray-Stud of the game.

Webber-Stud of the Pistons. His put back from Tey's miss was pretty impressive as well.

2 games in a row showing potential championship matchups and so far we are looking good.

Go PISTONS!!!

You guys/gals sure know how to make someone feel welcome.

I feel for your unhappiness with the Kings, but I've kinda been through that with the post-Bad Boys to pre-Billups Pistons, so I know how it feels.

I'm still just in awe at what Chris Webber has brought to the Pistons. It is almost unjust to the rest of the league.......:p

For your enjoyment, this is how I like to describe the Pistons to our opponents:

My team

has an old, broken down center with bad knees,
a limping PF with 15 technicals that hates the post,
the skinniest SF in the league,
a SG that gets 5 fouls a game,
a PG that's already been traded from 6 different teams,
a 36 year old backup PG
a 6th man that averages 6.5 pts a game.
and a coach that doesn't like the playoffs........

What a sad state of affairs. And my poor team of scrubs might have to face the MIGHTY MAVS MACHINE in the Finals. OMG !!!!

Please have pity on my team next time you play them and spot them 15 points just cause you feel sorry.......

Thank you.

Thing is, you could also describe the Pistons this way:

We have Chris Webber, Rasheed Wallace and Antonio McDyess. Try and stop us.

Anybody over the age of 20 should realize how ridiculous that sounds. Those three guys should never be allowed on the same team at the same time. That's just unfair.

I love your description. And I think it would look very nice inscribed on the O'Brien trophy. Go Pistons!!!

Hehehehehehehehehe.......................:D

Something else I'd like to point out:

Pistons will most likely attend another Conference Final this year, 5 in a row.

The last few times this was accomplished was by the 1993 Bulls with Jordan, the 1991 Pistons with Isaiah and the 1989 Lakers with Magic.

The air is pretty thin up here in this rarefied atmosphere.........

Each of those 3 teams won at least 2 championships.

6 straight 50+ win seasons would also snap a franchise record they currently have with the bad boys.

God, Webber is Making a lot of people look like idiots.

WORD!! That is true. And sometimes the not-so-nice part of me wonders whether the Maloofs and the ENTIRE Philadelphia coaching/management team cringe when Webb puts up ANOTHER great game & continues to look healthier than he did when he left the Kings....

I'm not sure Philly cares, since they weren't making the playoffs with him anyway. he wasn't a good fit for their kind of team.

The Maloofs are probably torn between missing his talent and missing his salary.

Big difference here, he is not expected to be the man, he is a role player. He would have done the same had be been to miami or SA. He had the chance to prove the same in Philly, what changed between then and now. Teams are not focussing on him, they have to worry about 4 other players before they have to worry about him.

He is playing a Robert horry role here and he is definitely much more talented to play that role better. Can he play the Duncan or Shaq role, no he cannot and thats what he was expected to do in Sacto or philly and thats what he was paid to do.

But I am sure that the pistons WILL NOT get past the cavs in the playoffs.

One reason is Stern ;), he wants parity and doesnt want the same team making the finals every year.

Two - basketball reasons - webb is playing center and in the regular season matchups dont matter much, but come playoffs matchups matter the most and teams will attack your weakness every posession. How is webb going to defend Z on the post or even Shaq on the post. He will be exposed every posession and teams will run plays that will involve webbs man every time down the floor.

We took back even more salary than we gave up Kstat. For Flexibility.... Needless to say we didn't gain anything contract wise.

You're either not watching or lying to yourself, Webber is playing much more than an Horry role on that team. The starting 5 is scary good and almost all equal offensively, you shut one down the others tear you up. Webber is scoring down low with consitancy, yes even against guys like Z and Howard. For gods sake I watched him abuse Amare frickin Stoudamire down low over and over! If you think Webb can no longer play or is a broken down old man role player... well see my last post. He is the starting Center for the best team in the East. They haven't gotten any worse on D than before he got there in fact they have gotten better... sorry.

...and how is Illgauskus or Shaq going to defend Chris Webber?

LOL, you're saying we won't get past the Cavs because Illgauskus will kill us? Come on.

If we lose in the playoffs, fine. But it won't be because Chris Webber can't play defense. That's just ridiculous.

yep, we still have his salary. It's just hard to remember we're paying that much because of the limited talent it's buying.

I think if the Maloofs had known that Webb would be able to get this healthy they would have made different moves. But, that's just my opinion. Maybe they like the team the way it is. ;)

CWebb has already shown he can handle top center types in the last 26 games. He defense is actually quite excellent. You should watch some Pistons games......

Since he came aboard, our point differential went up from 2.1 to 7.2, our opponents points allowed went down from 94.2 to 88.8, so it should be obvious our defense went up a quantum leap.

Ok, so Chauncey may have a shot at Mason's job once he retires. BBBBBBBBillups.

I pity the girl at the drive through who didn't know Mason.

Let's go everyone!!

DEEEEETROIT BASKETBALL!!!!!!

Sorry VF. I happen to love that chant, but since I don't want anyone hurling, I will just go with Go Detroit.

Dampier foul on the first possession-Nice!!!! Since he is the "best center in basketball" Puhlease!!!

Thank you... :)

I thought for some reason this game was in Dallas and I wasn't going to watch. The idea of seeing Webber play on the Dallas court still gives me nightmares. I'm glad it's in Detroit, even if it does mean I'll occasionally hear "the chant."

GO PISTONS!!!

Webber is going to play a huge part in us winning or losing this game. he sat the entire 2nd quarter in foul trouble, and now we're going to need him to step up.

Ktsat-I have to agree about the "fouls" they are calling against Detroit. Rather ridiculous, but it is what it is.

They need to come out of the half with their heads on straight and D it up because you know darn well, Dallas will look different. No doubt you could probably hear the Little General in the Palace at half time.
