I am pretty sure Jeter is gone so that leaves 2. we would still have 5 pg's with Bibby, Hart, Price, Douby and Salmons with the last 2 swinging up to the 2 spot. It would only make sense that one of Price or Hart would be gone as well as jeter. Now with the 4 and 5 spots we got KT, SAR, Miller, Pot, Willanson, Woods, Taylor, Williams, and Amundson thats 9 ppl for 2 positions with 2 starting so thats 7 on the bench. It looks more and more with the vets signing we will lose either Williams or Amundson as bad as i hat to say.

Jeter
Hart
Williams

With the signing of Mo Taylor, I am sure that puts us over the salary cap.. I look for Hart and Pot to be traded. both for a 2nd round pick if Petrie can find someone to bite.. Jeter is gone and Admunson and Williams to stay... Maybe I am dreaming, but it sounds good...

Or maybe Corliss for a second round and then just cut Hart and Jeter..

maybe san antonio could take hart, did they let go of van excel, or not resign him?
there was talk on hoopshype that beno udrich was injured and pop is losing faith/trust in his abilities.

who do they have other than beno and parker? unless u count barry as a 1

Van Exel retired. Maybe we could give them Hart, it'd be nice...

An interesting and premature thread since none of us have seen anyone play in preseason yet. Stimulating for sure but has anyone out there had a peek at pre-season practices yet? Other than Ailene having Salmons swimming upstream and not looking in shape, have other media had a peek at practices yet? or anyone who can give us a tidbit?

based on salaries at Hoopshype it shows 14 contracts totaling 62.6 Mil, Mo Taylor I am guessing got a vet min amount (not sure how much that is 1.1-1.5 mil?) So if you add that in, we are at 64.1 Mil.
If we added 2 rookie contracts of 412,000 we are at 64.9 mil. I believe the luxury tax kicks in at 65.42 mil.

Therefore if 2 excess players can not be traded by the end of camp, they could be waived and we would still be under the luxury limit.

I think kings management are impressed by Amundson's hustle and think it would be worth league min to keep him around.

As to who will be gone?

1.Pooh Jeter

Then management will pick 2 of the following group based upon training camp

2 PG Hart (or possibly Price)
3 Big Justin (or possibly Vitaly Poty or even a remote chance of Woods)

The big competition i feel will be between Hart/Price and Justin/Poty

.... and you guys are all wanting to keep Potapenko??? And don't forget about Kings stashing a FA or two at minimum$ on the NBDL team in Albuquerque. Williams maybe. He needs more work than Amundson.

Wonder if there are any buy out clauses for Pot, Corliss, etc that might easy the problem?

Stashing a player or two down on a NBDL team doesn't work. Those players still count against the 15 max.

The NBDL sucks. That is what it is supposed to be for. Basketball needs to take a lesson from Baseball and Hockey with respect to their junior development.

I don't honestly see us cutting hart. I wouldn't mind it but I don't see it and I believe his money would count against the cap even if we cut him.

Stashing a player works if it is a Williams who needs some time to establish an NBA game. He is quite the shot blocker but may need some time and be worth "stashing" for a bit.

I think the Kings will keep 14 on the active roster: 13 for games and one on NBDL. That means getting rid of 4 now on the roster, which is the question of this thread.

So 13 could be: 3 PG's, 3 SG's, 3 SF's, 3 PF's and 2 centers. Keeping in mind that our 3's could be interchangeable with our 2's. But who??
