Amick: De’Aaron Fox requests trade

There's literally no deal on the table that can make us a WCF/chip threat before he enters Free Agency. It's stupid. We really going to give up future firsts for Collins or Cam? Do they start here? What is it they will do exactly when they are out there with Len on the floor in the second unit?
This. And I am also starting to believe that there really never was a deal on the table at any point in time that would've made us a WCF/chip threat before he entered/enters Free Agency.

That's why I can't take half the people that hate Monte seriously. They would have trade machined us back to the gerbil years.

The same OKC GM who put together their current team also once traded James Harden for Kevin Martin and Jeremy Lamb which is to say, I’m not against giving Monte a chance to retool post-Fox. (I’m a little less ambivalent about keeping Wes though).
I understand he’s made bad moves but would you not swap him out today for Monty?

Of course I would. That’s not what I’m saying though. I’m saying that Monte has made a bunch of good moves (and was GM of the Year two seasons ago) to the point that I’m not sure we’d necessarily get a better GM if we fired him.

I’m pretty sure Klutch thought a BI deal was it.
That would have been what, 2-3 FRPs? For a guy on an expiring who wants to get maxed? In a way, it may have worked out better than Deebo, but if he only plays in 18 games like he has this year for NOP and we get to January and Fox asks out we are F'd beyond belief.

hahaha. Do they rep him?

I edited my post above, but these are my reasons…

I’d rather have Herro (and Jaquez since he was left off in your proposal) than Monk.
  • Herro has better advanced impact stats than Monk (especially on offense).
  • He’s posting 25/5/5 per36 min with a .622 TS% and 2+ AST:TO as a #1 option on an above .500 team
  • He’s shooting 40% from 3 on 10 3PA per 36 min
  • Herro and Ellis/Carter gives us a bit more size in our backcourt than Monk and Ellis/Carter
  • Herro is 2 years younger than Monk
We would have Herro/Monk if the trade happens

Also have to have an owner that lets you trade a star for picks which thus far Vivek hasn't been super keen on. I think DMC situation was clouded by the fact Vivek did not want to give him the super max without a playoff appearance.

1% chance? Can’t mortgage the franchise’s future for a 1% chance. If Fox wants to go - move him for the best deal. Then move DeRozan to a good team for the best deal you can get. Then move Huerter and Lyles for the best deal. Tank this year by giving lots of playing time to the young roster. Then build aggressively around Sabonis starting next off season.

This season just got trashed. There is no saving it.

Personally I don’t know enough to not like Monty. I am bringing him up only if this team finally decided to do a proper rebuild, I would assume we wouldn’t trust the guy who has built this current team to rebuild it. The only way to do a proper rebuild would be to start completly over, which wouldn’t be hard because we already have an interim coach. Hire the new GM and let him bring in the new coach.

Monte did good given the specifications his owner required - Vivek wanted playoffs, drought to end, it was a priority. Now maybe he should look at how OKC was built after they peaked.

Fox has asked out, this team has peaked. Follow the road map.

I'd much rather keep the current interim coach and see what he can do over the span of an entire season.

The only way a small market wins is the OKC/Hinkie path I’d say go give Hinkie a blank check but the nba won’t allow it. Can’t let that guy win but we can let players run the league

Oh god. This team is really gonna give fox what he wants and blow all of their 1st round picks to get average players here to keep Fox happy aren’t they?

This team and its fans act like we are really losing something spectacular. Dude isn’t a number 1. We still can’t make the playoffs. Fox can’t make the all star game. What’s keeping Fox gonna do for
This franchise? Maybe we make the play in?
Sounds like money well spent!

Presti invented the "Hinkie" path (although Seattle lost their team in the process). Presti went from a 40 win season to two 20 win seasons and right back on top.

Hinkie is Wish/Temu/We have Presti at home.

He busted so many picks and the team has yet to clear the second round which is where they were when he tore them down and they failed to win 30 games for the next 4 years, Monte is a better talent evaluator.
