Amick: De’Aaron Fox requests trade

I will say, it’s super bizarre that our front office just completely avoids speaking about anything at all. Even Petrie (though hamstrung by the Maloofs) would say something lol even if it were some cryptic quote about the moon and trees in the forest.
"When a wise man points at the moon, an idiot looks at his finger."

There you go.

I’m confused. On Matt George’s podcast he said that Fox did NOT request a trade. He was adamant about it.

He said the org told Fox’s agent they were open to discussing trades that include Fox.

Is he mistaken? Did I misunderstand?

This was the understanding early yesterday afternoon. Then amick tweeted that rich Paul basically told the Kings they ahould move Fox sooner than later. Which, suggests they asked for a trade.

Yep. It’s Paul doing his whole “plausible deniability” thing to keep people from getting mad at his client for wanting out while they also very obviously ask for a trade. He struck out on getting Trae to San Antonio and subsequently lost him as a client so now he wants to close the deal with Foxy.

Somebody was watching G League, it was against Stockton in Carter's debut that he scored 30_ ?

So... Fox has one good game the past 2 weeks or so and suddenly the whole trade scenario rises to the surface again now that his value went up? And the thread in the first 1-2 hours has way more comments than any game thread this season at least.
The irony is that Greek sites present the news as "Kings have put Fox on sale and seeing what they can get" as if it's the front office making the move. No mention to Klutch, Rich Paul or whatever, and naive people make fun of the front office for doing so in comments in social media.

Hopefully the team will not lose focus in the match at Philly later today, cause it's the "easiest' of matches that follow after (at Oklahoma and Minnesota) and a possible 3 defeats in a row might influence the team mentally despite the schedule getting normal afterwards.
yeh i watched that game and liked him a bit coming out of the draft as a flyer.

So, who is projected to have cap space that could give him the extend/raise? Spurs… and Brooklyn, Houston, and Washington, I think. Utah was on the list over the summer of 2025 cap teams, but I’m not sure if the Lauri extension changes the calculus.

Separately, remember the criticism of the front office using cap space to lock up Sabonis long term? Aren’t we happy we didn’t have to deal with this with him?

Not only that, Domas took a below max contract so his deal isn’t tied to cap percentages.

We picked the player we wanted to extend. Sabonis is an ultra rare breed of player especially at his position. He can play with anyone and makes the team better instantly. Fox has been skating around an extension for a while and perhaps both sides were annoyed with each other. Kings needed a commitment from him, and he hesitated. He also stated things publicly like wanting to win and things of that nature which probably didn’t sit too well with the front office.

This doesn’t have to be a disaster. We can make him happy and also improve our team in the process. As long as we don’t get fleeced. I’m actually excited to see how this works out.

It cost us flexibility that year for sure, but you don't screw around with your star players contract and you certainly don't let them freely go to UFA. Maybe it all works perfectly and we could have still kept him, or maybe he gets swayed by a different org and we have no recourse to keep him.

Yet SOMEONE here would have you believe that Monte screwed up. Hmm

No, no, and hell no.

Like Simmons, Zion is not a player you consider trading for unless he shows he can stay healthy and available.

All the talent in the world does you no good if you can't even suit up.
All that plus the off the court drama he seemingly can’t stay away from. Doesn’t seem like the kind of player Monte would ever go for, even with all that talent.
