Amick: De’Aaron Fox requests trade

I hope it’s not all about money, but whatever it is this does really sour me on him. This is the best team he’s had his entire career, and instead of giving us one shot at the playoffs he’s pushing out now?

Honestly smacks of fear that a deep run will make it harder for him to ask out. And maybe a thought that going somewhere like the Spurs and getting better coverage ups his odds of all-NBA super max

Most times I don’t fault players or teams for wanting to move on, but for someone making $32mm per with $165mm guaranteed any time he wants, and a friend playing with him on a discount deal, it it’s like - really??? There’s nothing in the world he can’t afford and that’s what matters to him anyways. Good luck out there.
I think we probably had a deal for Cam and wanted a commitment from him and he's a "let's wait and see". But everything you say here is legitimate.

Could also be a handshake agreement with Kings front office staff. He’s still on the books for this season and next, but if we wait until next year to trade him, teams might be fearful of him bolting to another spot. Better to trade him now than wearing down the team morale. When you know a guy wants out, it changes things for the team.

I don’t get why it would be embarrassing. We traded one of them for an All-NBA center, the most important guy on the roster (yes, way more than Fox himself), then the other one went full Klutch and will likely return a decent return.

This isn’t KINGS GONNA KINGS. We’re in a great spot here.
Even when New Orleans got Klutched on AD they got a pretty fair exchange. Imagine if Zion hadn't been a walking injury time bomb. Yeah, I know that was their pick, but they were in that position via the trade. Just like we got into Fox position because of the Boogie deal.

We should be in solid shape here, especially if Miami is at least another team that Fox will potentially re-up with.

The games without Fox showed we are competitive. Ellis starting adds huge defense, Monk fills in a lot of playmaking and initiation, and Deebo is a phenomenal closer. Fox is superfluous if we add wing depth, rebounding, and 3 point shooting.

the only thing we truly lose with Fox gone is needing to find a replacement for Deebo given his age, but we have plenty of time for that
This is where a guy like Herro comes in a elite shooter giving us 23/5 to go along with a hood wing player JJJ

I am sure plenty is rumor but there are always 3 teams that made sense. Houston is Fox's hometown, Recee is from San Antonio, Bam who was part of his Kentucky crew and he may actually be closer to than Monk is in Miami. And all three just happen to be tax havens.
Right... I get that, but this is not free agency. Virtually no superstar demanding a trade dictates one team only (maybe AD... I can't recall). Usually there's a general favorite but open to others. I just can't imagine DeAaron sitting around contemplating what team he's going to assert as his preferred trade destination. If he does have love for Sac, he is showing a pretty crapty way of trying to force our hand while getting the lowest return. My point is that all of this seems really weird... almost like we're jumping the shark on superstar trade requests.

Siakam and Anunoby both complicated Masai's life by telling teams (us, for one) that they won't re-sign with them. That's all Klutch is really doing here. I think he'll re-sign with all three of those teams. But again I also think there could be more but we are just seeing the ones that have been speculated be talked about in the open. Perhaps Klutch sees San Antonio is ready to move and so they are adding some wood to the fire.

Ok how about a Captain insane-O deal.

Jimmy to the Suns
Fox and Deebo to Miami

Kings get
Beal
Ryan Dunn
Kel’el Ware
Jovic
3 firsts from the Suns
2 firsts from the Heat
Would rather just deal directly with the Heat.

Also not into giving up Deebo with Fox gone. Actually I think he is more important with Fox gone.

I wouldn’t count out the Lakers being in the mix with the Klutch connection but idk what we’d want off that roster. They’re also in a position to dump a bunch of players and bank on getting discount deals to play with that Big 3 (and FTL but that’s a legit strategy)

I wouldn’t mind it for the right haul since their window is so short and we could easily bounce them, but again idk if they have enough to interest us

Did he even request a trade. Should the title of the thread be changed because I didn't understand he requested a trade just agent threat talk
Was thinking the same thing. Feels like a hammer dropped and he just asked out to the Spurs, but Amick’s actual report is that Klutch a little while ago said they should trade him sooner rather than later, and are open to fielding offers from other teams, and the Kings are now willing to listen. Definitely some nuance.

If the Kings trade Fox it finally opens up a starting spot for Keon - who still has absurd advanced metrics that scream that he needs court time. I'd rather keep DDR than trade for LaVine. That seems like a lateral move that costs assets and reputation to make.

Full disclaimer: I also just don't like LaVine's game at ALL. Combine that with the salary and injury risk and it's a big no from me. Besides, the time to trade for LaVine was last season when he was pretty much viewed as a negative asset due to his albatross of a deal. Now Chicago will want actual pieces for him. No thanks.
The guy Fox is traded for is starting not Keon

it’ll be malpractice to give the spurs a perfect Robin to Wemby and have them be in the same conference for the bull crap offer they have. Who cares about non lottery firsts this isn’t the nfl stop falling for “firsts”

Players can’t request trades publicly lest they get super suspended like Jimmy Butler. Make no equivocations about it, this is Rich Paul dropping the nuke.
