Amick: De’Aaron Fox requests trade

Did he even request a trade. Should the title of the thread be changed because I didn't understand he requested a trade just agent threat talk
That would appear to be a nuance in the story that is irrelevant in my opinion. An agent threat, with a team he would like to be moved to if traded seems to be a trade request. His agent speaks for De'Aaron... if not he needs to find a new agent.

The only out I see in all of this for DeAaron is if he is all in on Sac, but found out the kings were shopping him and he is simply trying to say don't trade me, but if you do it better only be to the spurs. Of course, it's all a bit circular because Klutch was adding pressure last month which may have pushed the Kings to start sniffing around at the trade deadline.

In my opinion he should talk

This is self-fulfilling prophecy...

Sacramento players don't get the benefit of the doubt on foul calls, All Star selections, or End of Season awards. That translates into lower salaries, less endorsement opportunities, and a tougher path to playoff success. Why would anyone want to stay if they can go anywhere else and have a better chance to win, put up MVP type numbers with friendlier whistles, and collect the kind of awards which everyone will point to as defining their legacy?

Moving Fox just reinforces the same status quo which keeps this franchise irrelevant in the overall sports world. And yet we don't really have a choice. This is why I talk about officiating all the time. We've arrived here with Fox because he's a superstar who never gets the superstar calls, rarely shows up in highlight packages, and is already forgotten about by fans, players, and coaches by mid-season even after dropping 100 points in back to back games. I can't really blame him for saying "enough is enough".

And it probably doesn't matter who we draft -- the pattern has already been established. This might be a fun stopping off point for a youngster to build their resume but once the conversation turns to "legacy", if we're not a top 5 team in the league, we really have no chance at keeping our star players.

This is sort of the crux of the problem with Fox right? He's far and away the closest thing the Kings have to a "1a" sort of star, but the excuses have been he's never had enough help to get over the hump. But he's also never shown he's a SGA/Luka tier of player either. Not many guys have a 1B as good as Domas either and it's still seemingly not enough.

The flip on this is that if the rest of the team is as good as we think it can be and we make the right trades, there is a chance some young guys coming back don't spend the first 5-6 years of their career in basketball hell and they can get right.

Dame did fine in Portland because the Blazers weren't a complete and total dumpster fire when he arrived.

Golden State was also a joke franchise not long ago.

Though I will say Adam Silver was not in charge yet.

I really don't understand why some media people are acting like this is a choice.

Fox is bailing. It's his decision. Trade him now, or lose him for nothing later. That's the only choice Fox has left Monte.

These Twitter nerds can miss me with all that Kangz ****

I think long term this is the problem with signing him to his next contract also... whether it's a super max or just a normal max. He's clearly a fantastic player, but he's not a 1a super duper player you need to which a championship. He's a fantastic 1b to Wemby at that max contract. But next to Domas, he needs to be the 1a super duper player and he's never going to be that player.

He’s not that’s why Spurs are a good fit he’s not a superstar! Was a weird flex when he he admitted getting mad bring the dog out of him

we have to find a way to get enough scorers that not having a 1A doesn’t hurt us as much. Trades with spurs don’t accomplish that Vassell/Cassell ya I’m good

The kings front office holds the cards. We seek out player(s) we want and if San Antonio and klutch wants him there hey need to find a way for us to get who we want not just scraps from San Antonio. If we want Johnson and Collins then they can figure it out include huerter in there. If we want picks add them to us. If we see another guard we like they can figure a way to include him.

if we make the conference finals that all changes

We may not get to dictate those terms, especially if he's not dealt here at the deadline. And if you keep him the rest of the season, what's that locker room look like now with all the dirty laundry of the trade request out there?

The Spurs package to me is the "rebuild on the fly", but you'll still have enough to stay competitive in DDR's term here. But those picks/Castle/Sochan give you a real shot at a ceiling down the line to maybe where you get a chance to find a real 1A.

Monk-DDR-Domas is a lot of offense. The big problem we've been begging for all year is to play 2 defenders with 3 offensive hubs; well, this forces you to do that. My big worry is that trading Fox for someone like a Herro or LaVine is you're just essentially keeping the same team build, but with worse players.

I’d think he’d be fine with the Rockets as well, given he’s actually from Houston and they’re good this year.

if he’s interest in either team they both have assets and we could get a bidding war back, and certainly get our pick swap from SAS returned
Houston actually has players I like along with picks. I think I could live with that easier than San Antonio

I hope it’s not all about money, but, whatever this is about, it really sours me on him. This is the best team he’s had his entire career, and instead of giving us one shot at the playoffs he’s pushing out now?

Honestly smacks of fear that a deep run will make it harder for him to ask out. And maybe a thought that going somewhere like the Spurs and getting better coverage ups his odds of all-NBA super max

Most times I don’t fault players or teams for wanting to move on, but for someone making $32mm per with $165mm guaranteed any time he wants, and a friend playing with him on a discount deal, it it’s like - really??? There’s nothing in the world he can’t afford and that’s what matters to him anyways. Good luck out there.
The timing is AWFUL
