Huerter's struggled offensively, but he at least attempts to play defense, isn't actively trying to chuck up a 28% USG rate when he comes in the game and I'm pretty sure is a good locker room guy. I know I said I wouldn't "hate" the Huerter for Kuz swap, but I honestly think I would. I'd rather see what Isaiah Crawford is about than go to Kuz.
In a general sense on paper it's worth a shot, but Kuz is literally the type of player that can muck up your team since he's not adding anything in hustle or defense as you said. If he were a good defender he'd have gotten the Wiz a first a long time ago. Maybe even two.

But thinking through it a little bit, I actually don't think it's worth the shot. Huerter is like THE piece we have to move around for another rotation player who can actually be impactful. Once you deal him, you're out of money (literally) to go make another move unless you dip into your core.

I don't think a Huerter trade has to be a perfect piece or anything, but when you trade him, it better be for a rotation player you know can help you. Not a speculative add and a prayer. Pat Williams is sort of that same example, but at least in his best case scenarios, he's the exact archetype we want. Kuzma just...isnt

If Kuzma signed up for the role he played on the Lakers, he could add a ton to the team. He’s a good passer and finisher, and can be a good defender and rebounder when motivated. I agree with the comments if we got the current version of Kuzma.

In my view, if we can get Kuzma for Huerter and Colby Jones - the Kings would be getting better. They are so thin at the forward spot now. But I don’t know what other options are that we’d be passing on (if any).

Monte isn’t trading for Williams contract

Patrick Williams would be the low risk, high reward player we can try to take a swing in a trade of Huerter and a couple of 2nd rounders.

The problem is, Patrick Williams isn't that player yet. However, if Patrick Williams can at least be serviceable on offense while playing good defense and continue to develop, this is the type of trade that can make Monte look really smart in a couple of years.

Pat Williams makes too much Monte always talked about flexibility trading for a guy and wishing he gets better with that contract doesn’t fit what he says

Robert Williams should be a higher priority than Pat he can change our defense even with low minutes 14-20. He’s getting the start vs Orlando tonight as well.

Maybe you send Portland a first to get Williams/Thybull and have a bench group of Ellis, Thybull, Lyle’s, and Timelord

6 minutes 0 points on 0 of 2 shooting, 0 rebounds 0 assists the last two games for Huerter.
Seems he’s being shut down.
I agree would much rather get JV than Kuzma if we’re dealing with Washington, but curious if they would consider taking Huerter on without sweetening the pot.
