Did you watch the game? The Kings were in control the whole game until the officials just said "nope, from now on everything that we've been allowing you to do for the first 3 quarters is a foul call". There is an adjusting to that. It's just a massive brick wall that we have no way around.
You can pound your head against the brick wall, or you can do something like change your defense to prevent 3's. I know what I would work on

I can complain about crap reffing every game and I can complain about our reluctance to change anything with our 3pt defense.

See? Easy.
Yeah, and tonight it was clearly both. The early 3's gave way to unstoppable shooting even when well defended late as usual, but the Spurs got back at the line tonight and the Kings stopped getting there even though they were still trying.

We have almost double their points in the paint (58 vs 32) but have more fouls against and the same number of free throws. SA getting into the bonus within minutes of starting the 4th on cheap calls is bogus.

How can we - again - give up 69 points from 3 on 50% three point shooting and expect to win? Defend the three.

31 assists and 11 turnovers, with a contribution from almost everyone who played is as good as you can hope for on offence. Giving up 30+ point quarters again and again and again is Walton era junk.

That's fine for you. As a player and coaching staff, complaining isn't going to get them to the post season. You know what they need to do, as well as most of the rest of us

Brown isn’t playing defense. This is on Monte.
Nah this is entirely a scheme thing/defensive communication thing.
Last year, we had Jordi calling out switches and coverages on defense. This year, Luke was supposed to pick up that role and he just hasn’t had the same juice. The good news is that you literally have one of the best defenders of this century/great communicator guy coaching on the bench right next to him but I dunno if Mike wants to upset the apple cart (Luke is De’Aaron’s guy through and through) at this point.

Well there it is. This is rock bottom for me as a fan given the expectations. We have played the Spurs twice and given up their franchise record tying 3 point total and now their new record 3 point total. We have changed the starting lineup several times. We had our core guys all playing. We found our new back up big /wing. We shot respectable from 3. We still lost, AT HOME. We have to fix the defense NOW!!!!

me personally, this has turned from bringing me the greatest joy to my life other than friends family and career to a traumatizing experience.

I’m broken and done watching games until they fix this problem.
Watching this and the niners game at the same time was not the way I wanted to wrap up Thanksgiving week

Yeah, this sucks.

I'm quickly looking at this as we need to maybe start thinking about tearing this down and being "early" on a rebuild rather than waiting around for another 1 year and a half of misery.

The team that started 8-6 and like 7th in ORtg, 13th in DRtg is gone. You get maybe one great quarter a game and it's just a slow bleed the rest of the game.

We need the reporters to start asking directly and very specifically about the 3 point defense. No dancing around it

Again, I'm way too stupid to know how to actually scheme this. But how are our coaches just going back, watching film, looking at the numbers and seeing yet another historic 3pt night against us and just not changing anything? There was a distinct play where Keegan went to tag the driver and left the 3pt shooter wide open. And it just happens over and over.

There's still time. They should get at least a season to see what's what. By the end of the year all those things will be clearer. I'm sure this is partly why Monte wasn't all in on dumping every pick he'll have till the end of time like some people want. Monte's kind of doing what Petrie did with the re-tooling in the mid 2000's and a GM better keep a back door in his back pocket. This time hopefully Monte doesn't hang on with a death grip like Petrie did though and commits to a rebuild if need be.

Would it even matter? If the Kings abandon the paint to defend the 3pt line they're still going to lose, just in a different way. In order to adjust the defense they need more than just a change in scheme, they need longer defenders who can help off the ball while staying close enough to their man to close out. They need a defensive presence in the post that guards will think twice about trying to score on if they do turn the corner.

I think it took balls for the Kings to drive right into the paint again and again with the leading shotblocker in the league on the other side. That's what they were afraid to do in the last Spurs match up and it cost them. This time it was actually working until Tony Brothers had enough and took matters into his own hands.

What's more, I don't think this Kings team is capable of beating this Spurs team in a shootout. If that's what Kings fans want to see I think you're watching the wrong team.

We have to think about Fox. We could get value for him but if we suck and he chooses to walk we would be in much worse shape long term.

It's real simple. They sag and help way too much. You can't reduce 3's, unless your wings and guards stick with their man at nearly all times......and your 5 as well, if they have a capable shooter at the 5

coaching change would def come first before a tear down

I played video games and forgot this was happening. I'm glad. But ok, why do the refs hate us? Did the players do something? Vivek? Is Silver demanding this?

The 3pt defense has been consistently awful and maybe that is something Carter can help fix but the reffing has gone from extremely questionable in the past to just flat out rigged.

to me the rebuild if there is one will be trading Fox for a young player or two and a couple picks. Say Tari Eason, Cam whitmore and a pick or two. Kings would still be super competitive without totally tearing things down to the studs. I’m not ready for that though, the thought makes me sick. Can’t be bad for 16 years and then tear it down to the studs after 2 seasons. Ugh

Wasn’t the dude in favor of the Seattle move?

sorry my man. Your theory got blown up in this game, again. They are not making the post season, unless they can improve their 3 pt defense.

Last word to you, i've said enough on the topic

the reffing wasn’t great but we should have been up 20 plus at half time but we allowed shooting practice from 3. Their confidence went up and they started splashing contested 3s too

Definitely has to be an overreaction to helping Domas at the rim. I get why Brown was overboard with it tonight considering the paint points last game, but he's got to realize that the best defense is strong man to man even if he doesn't have strong man to man defenders outside of a few players. Prior to CP3 getting that big 3 as Domas cheated over off that switch (NEVER cheat over on a switch because what's the point of switching?), Domas came up, slid his feet, and trailed Paul into help on one key play. I still think Domas has potential as a mobile pressure big. If not, he's going to be a liability. It is what it is.

Here's the only thing about that: in the "modern" NBA, teams have shown no indication that they actually would make the Kings pay for abandoning the paint. At the very least, they should try it and see, because what they've been doing for twenty-one games isn't working. We know that much.
