I'm fairly neutral on this Laker team, but dont care to see James get to the finals. It'll be an interesting series v Nuggets.....Murray will have to step his shooting I think. Jokic vs Anthony is exciting. I was quite tired of the Warriors, and annoyed the Kings hit a block at home in a game 7 to lose the way they did.

OK, point out where I said "extend". Your issue is you keep bringing up A when I was talking about C the whole time. "Extend" the way you used it is not there in my argument. I'm not, nor have I ever argued they didn't create a very short term window. I totally 100% agree with you on that. Your usage of "extend" was followed with this EXACT quote:
"They took a 5-6 year window and turned it into a 2-year window, and now one of those years is gone".
You're talking time, I'm talking width and this is a different Suns team post trade. I'm saying they were a team on a downhill trajectory the last 2 seasons. And they were. The numbers back it up. Finals, to 2nd round exit, to 40 win territory. Now, you can speculate all you want about what year 4, 5, or 6 would've brought but you can't throw out the results. I'm saying they made a move to reverse that trajectory as soon as possible and potentially opened that "window" wider than it was with where that team left off. As it is now? They were the same. 2nd round exit. But that other team was likely going to be play in material as it was had that trajectory continued. Next year is the test.

I still think them being able to go from the dumpster to the WCF is every reason why I was so WTF NBA at the deadline. The West is far different today than before. Far, far different and hopefully the Nuggz tear them a new one but it's possible the days of being able to go sub .600 and stay in that top 5 are now over.
Have to disagree with you. We lost to the Warriors in 7 with a very uncompetitive game 7 loss. Despite the Lakers-Warriors game going to 6 games, the series wasn't even close. The Lakers came in and curb-stomped the Warriors. AD played like a 2-way MVP. Their supporting players actually made their 3s. Lebron looked like 2018 Lebron. Their entire team was hungry and played with playoff toughness.
If this Kings team were actually good enough to make the WCF, we would be there now. You can blame injuries, but everyone in the playoffs has been playing hobbled. We're actually one of the more fortunate teams that played with a full squad unlike the Grizzlies, Clippers, Suns, and Heat who missed key starters.
I think next year we should be fielding a much more legitimate playoff team. Fox has unlocked a new level in the playoffs.

Game 7 Kings vs. Warriors was within two baskets until the last seconds of the third quarter when Davis gave Klay a four point play to push their lead to 10. That wasn't a "very uncompetitive game" it was a big Warriors run over about 3 minutes of game-time combined with Fox having his worst game of the series and nobody else stepping up in the fourth quarter. The lead felt bigger than it was because it coincided with about a dozen Warriors offensive rebounds in quick succession and the Kings continued to miss open jumpers in the 4th quarter which allowed GS to waste clock and get the edge mentally.
We saw this team come back from much bigger deficits than that all season but that was with a healthy Fox running point and Monk, Barnes, Huerter, and Murray getting clean looks off of his dribble-penetration. I agree with @Vinny Basketballerino on this -- we lost that series because Fox broke his finger and the officials allowed the Warriors all sorts of illegal contact toward Sabonis after the Kings took the early 2 game lead.
