24 is riiiight around Kris Murray range (not sure why but the guy's dropped in most recent mocks to the point that some guys have him going in the second round).
37 is in a really interesting range where there should be a lot of good names still left on the board so I hope Monte decides to use it this year (unless some team out there offers us a future FRP for it or something crazy)
With a third 2-way roster spot available, 54 is an interesting slot to take a flier on a guy/draft-and-stash a Euroleague guy.
Bleacher Report's latest mock (done before the Pacers won their last game and dropped their 2nd rounder from 36 to 37) had us going Sensabaugh (passing on Filipowski, Podziemski, Kris, Bilal, Leonard Miller to do so), Amari Bailey (picked at 36 over Sasser, Cissoko, Keyontae Johnson, Nnaji), and Adem Bona (don't think he's going to stay in this draft because he could be a FRP next season if he has a strong year for UCLA).
Sensabaugh is a really interesting prospect in that he's got this great scoring package and solid height and length but in a physical package that you could charitably say reminds me of Ron Ron (largely ground bound but ridiculously strong for his size) without the lockdown defense. He's still just 19 so there's plenty of time for him to improve on that aspect and the guy can shoot the hell out of the ball (in other words perfect to play off Sabonis and Fox) while creating shots for himself as an iso scorer, which is something the Kings sorta lack outside our stars and HB on occasion. He's in the David Roddy/Kenny Lofton Jr. mold of being thicc-er and more skilled than your average basketball player but he's not as "marshmallow"-ey as either of those guys and a much better shooter than either to boot. Would not be too upset if we got him to say the least.
Also selecting him would make it four years in a row of Monte raiding the Big Ten for his first round selection lol
Kris Murray shot 33% from 3 this season, n he laid lots of bricks up in his teams elimination games, which ya know, if your looking to add a 'Win-now' guy to a playoff roster, isn't exactly encouraging for a player who turns 23 in august.
If his name wasn't Kris Murray would everyone still love him around here? I dont see it.. IDK, he's a worse version of Keegan, when I hear Kings fans talk about team needs, I dont hear them describing a worse version of Keegan as something we need. I signed up to be the devils advocate when It came to Kris early in the season and I sorta feel that he made it too easy for me. Iowa didnt go out with a bang, they went out with a whimper.
Now the discussion with him should be centered around, whats he gonna look like as just one of the guys? instead of the key cog, as he was on Iowa this season. If the Kings do end up selecting him, thats why I think they'll pull the trigger, essentially that he'll shoot it much better without all the defensive focus, but ya know, NBA3pt defenses are WAYYY better than he faced in college, so theres some reason for concern.
I'm simply not buying the jack of all trades explanation totally when he's shooting 4FTA's on all those shots vs younger less experienced players, his most translatable skill needs to be his 3pt shooting to warrant taking him in the top20.
A deep dive into Kris's 3pt shooting shows;
he shot 17/45(38%) in the easier out of conference schedule.
he shot 45/133(33%) in conference play
and in the 2 elimination games he played (both losses) at the end of the season he shot 5/19 (26%), he also drew very few FTA's in these games where hes taking 20FGA's.
So his 3pt shooting got worse as the season went on. I'd say thats why he's fallen on some boards (NBAdraft.net has him at 18 still, they've gotta be the highest on him rn, they also had him in the lottery early in the season though IIRC, and they are notorious for sticking with their guns/deviations from ESPN/DX/Givony)
