I'm pretty sure you're alone on that island.
It's not a crazy take. Smith has a better shot but seems to disappear more on offense to me. Chet is a bit scary build-wise. Banchero looks like he can't miss and has a solid all-around game. Wouldn't shock me if he went #1, but I wouldn't have him as the favorite right now.

Dude doesn’t have the highest upside in this draft, but 6’10 forwards with point forward skills and an all around feel for the game don’t come along often. Like once a decade. I don’t care what others think. I go off of what I see. And what I’m seeing is a special prospect.

I didn't say he won't be a good player, but I would be shocked if he went #1. OTOH, I wouldn't be shocked if he dropped to 4th.

Starting to feel like there may be a cliff after the top 4 players (Homgren, Smith, Banchero, Mathurin) this year. Followed by Ivey and Murray in a different tier. Then an even bigger drop. Watching Davis now and watched Griffen and Banchero earlier. Davis and Griffen look like mid teens picks to me. Not lotto worthy.

I like Benn and think he is going to move up but ain't nobody got him in their top 4 entering the tourney and I'm not sure it changed today. Most people have him after 8 for some reason, which I think is wrong. Right now I predict he will go 5 or 6.

Did you watch Banchero leading up the tourney? Pretty low impact. I'd be surprised something so major happens that it shakes the top 4 names out of the top 4 if it does it could certainly pay dividends for Sac on the trade front though.

The absolute wildcard in this draft class remains Shaedon Sharpe who is probably more likely to declare for the draft today than he was before he saw the Wildcats choke their opening game of the tourney last night.

Yes, I did watch him. And the more I watch him, the more I think I take him at #1.

If the top 6 somewhat holds, I think Jaden Ivey would be the guy most likely to drop past 4

-Orlando has a big pick investment in Suggs/Cole Anthony and the Markelle Fultz extension that it'd be hard to see them add another young guard to those 3.

-Houston just committed the #2 to Jalen Green, Christian Wood heading for UFA after next season and a real need to put some rim protection next to Sengun with an athletic 4 (All 3 top guys would be great here, Chet/Jabari especially). They won't make the same mistake passing on another potential Evan Mobley for an iffy Ivey-Green pairing up top.

-Det just spent the #1 on their top ball-handler/playmaker and have basically nothing on the interior. I like Stewart, but he's taken a pretty big step back in his sophomore season. I think they'd prioritize the bigs over Ivey, but could see them putting Ivey over Banchero.

-OKC has made a huge investment in their back-court with Giddey at #6, Shae on a max deal and Dort headed for a giant contract in a few years. When Isaiah Roby is your most promising big man, you need help. They'll prioritize the bigs if they actually try to build a core and not punt it for the future again.

-Indy is a wild-card, depending on what their plans are with Brog, Buddy and Turner. They'll lose Jalen Smith and TJ Warren to FA and clearly Hali will be the focus of their rebuild. Indy generally isn't in the business of rebuilding, so could them focusing in on a Murray/Griffin type to slide right into the Warren role if outside the top 4.

But why would they draft Paolo when they've already got bird rights on Marvin Bagley???

I still have Jabari as a lock for #1. It's hard to argue with his shot and defensive lateral quickness. I feel like elite 3&D is his floor and the sky is the limit from there.

I don’t see the handles to be elite. I think Jared Butler is a better prospect than him.
Elite? If he were truly elite he'd probably be in the top 3. I think 5 or beyond and he's a great get. He's shown an aptitude in all areas and the potential to improve is there. I think his game is far more suited to the NBA. I wouldn't be surprised to see him have a similar jump to someone like Miles Bridges. Rugged, G/F's right now with a good physical base do well if they keep working. His ability to never be a doghnut for his team because of his ability to play both sides will serve him well early.

Johnny Davis the most obvious candidate in the world for a dude who falls to 8, wins ROY after averaging 18-6-2 next season and everyone asks "OMG HOW DID HE FALL SO FAR??!?!?"
I look at him and think the Warriors would totally draft someone like this. Vivek would love that, haha.

Yeah he's not a college chucker, ala James Bouknight who I never really understood the love for. And while Jalen Green is starting to figure it out, I think Davis has been a more well-rounded prospect than Green too.

The defense is starting caliber and he'll walk into the NBA as one of the better rebounding guards. I can't find the wingspan anywhere, but just looking at him, i'd be surprised if it were lower than like 6'9, so i don't anticipate problems there. And just his shot creation skill in the midst of defenses actively swarming him really does stand out as an elite skill. He plays at that "star pace" where he never really seems out of control and he's going to get to his spot and there's nothing the defense can do to stop it. I'm never a "watch the tape" guy that ignores the numbers, but Davis might be breaking that mold for me. When you put his role with Wisconsin in context for the efficiency and him still bringing it on defense and the glass despite that offensive role (something a lot of college offensive stars don't do. Jimmer anyone?), you just see how he can be a special player down the line. Even still, dude doesn't turn the ball over, rebounds like a mad-man for a guard, is solid at getting to the FT line on a good enough %.

I don't think he has the franchise player upside that the top 4 do, but his floor is just as good, if not better than any of them. He's quickly become one of my favorite prospects in the draft.
