Hall of Famer
The thing is we aren't though. Fox and Bagley have objectively been loved and praised by NBA pundits all around the league. Hield is objectively one of the best shooters in the league. We shouldn't be losing like this.
Feared a potential Buddy regression. Called this one since the end of the season.

As good as Fox is there are still holes in his game.

Bagley is nothing but a certain amount of undetermined potential. And also made of glass.

Their early season showing has me doubling/tripling down on my “If his knees manage to stay healthy, Giles far and away has the most potential on this team.”

We’re not as good as we thought we were.

This is like the bizarro mirror of last season. Everyone went in thinking the team would win 24 games or less and then what? what is happening? It's happening?

This year, everyone thought the Kings would make a playoff push, and then this start has everyone saying what? What is happening?

Putting my rosy glasses on for a moment: this start is really going to make the turnaround later in the season something special.

Maybe the India trip and the sexual assault case were bigger distractions that we thought.
I don’t believe there are any valid excuses. They’re pros. Man up and play some ball.

But having said that, I do wonder if the lingering funk that is hanging over the team has anything to do with the 40 hour trip around the world. I’d love to believe that’s what zapped life out of this team. Indiana is winless too, though I haven’t watched them play to know if they’re lethargic too.

Assuming it has very little to do with it, I still thought it was a bad idea. I get that Vivek is proud of his country, but to travel all that way to play in front of only a couple thousand fans all while completely disrupting your training camp never made much sense to me.

But I don’t own an NBA team so what the heck do I know.

I think I just stepped on my rosy glasses on my way into to refresh my adult beverage. :(

Okay, one final thought. Does anyone think Buddy's actions regarding his extension might have had a negative impact on the team? Just asking...
Yes, to an extent. I was going to include Buddy's comments in an earlier game time post, but thought it might be a derail at the time. I think Buddy's comments are a symptom though, not a cause. My supposition is that the young guys are looking at the big money FA acquisitions, and 2/3 are utter garbage while Joseph is a clear back up. My guess is the FAs came in acting like big money acquisitions, and they just can't play. The young guys tune them out, get upset that these "no-game" dudes are getting paid, and then problems ensue.

I think Ariza needs to be cut; Dedmon benched and traded when eligible.

1. Agree. It doesn't look as though they're committed to the game, to each other, or to us - the loyal and long-suffering yet faithful fans.

2. Did the Hornets win?

3. You've been here a long time. Your negativity is no worse than that of a lot of other fans who feel like they've been kicked in the gut. Even @Carmichael Dave is having a hard time.
Yes, the Hornets did win. Setting up a HUGE game for outright control of the Big Sky Conference next week against Weber State out at Hornet Stadium next Saturday evening. Might be 20K+ at that one. I’ll be there!

Regarding your last comment, you’re correct — but I usually don’t like to pile on much, as I’m not likely to see or add anything that every other KINGS fan hasn’t seen or written themselves. Plus 3 games is a small sample size all things considered. But I just couldn’t help It.

I hate having to avoid all things sports on TV and internet because I don’t want to be reminded of my extreme disappointment. What a gut punch to start the season.

Here's the thing with Dedmon...we can argue his offensive usage all day and there might be some merit to it, but his defense has been absolutely atrocious and his turnovers are middle schooler mistakes. He's just awful as a starter. Awful. He needs to come off the bench.

Luke needs to get creative. If Wenyen can stick a corner 3 I would heavily consider starting him at 4 and moving Beli to the 5.

George Hill. Dedmon is trying out there, he is just being set up to fail. He should be in the corner every offensive set.
Yup. I guarantee he’d be lighting centers on fire from 3 the second we trade em

Luke just doesn’t know what the hell hes doing, and i doubt a light bulb is gonna magically go off

The Dedmon thing appears to be entirely mental/him being put in a position to fail by the coaching staff. Oddly reminiscent of the Chuck Hayes experience.
IDK what is with the KINGS, but how many FA acquisitions have come here and looked like they couldn’t play at all only to go elsewhere and look like a serviceable player. It is like these guys can’t put the ball in the basket or play any defense once wearing SAC or KINGS across their chest.

Unreal.

Exactly. That’s why we’re frustrated

i don’t remember being surprised or caring about our past crap teams starting off 0-3 because we didn’t have any talent worthwhile. Our best player was Beno Udrih, for goodness sake.

Well, with WCS gone to greener pastures, KINGS fans were in desperate need of a new whipping post target. Early returns are in and Dedmon is going to be that guy!

So far, I can’t argue against the criticism. But he’s far from the only one playing like absolute crap.

When Walton said the practices aren’t being transferred over to the games.. seems pretty obvious that the players aren’t believing in this system once they start losing. Not sure what the remedy is for that
That or when another coaches gameplan butts up against it the cracks show. The Kings haven't looked cohesive enough to even show a real system. They run sets. Poorly might I add. The ones that work aren't run enough, the spacing is variable, and players are being put in uncomfortable situations. Maybe he just doesn't know his personnel yet? In the last 15 years Kings fans have seen it all from a coach. Usually the next step is asking the players if they want some old plays put in, but honestly, most of those are things we already know are losers. To his credit, we haven't seen much horn from Walton but that was one of his calling cards in LA. If he puts that back in from Joergers playbook then we be in real trouble. I wouldn't mind him putting Barnes in the post a little more which Joerger did quite a bit because without Bagley there is almost no inside presence to force the defense to collapse via a ball entry pass. Drive and dish should be the teams calling card but it would be nice to have one on one inside play.

I really just don’t think they like this coach and some may not even like playing together

there’s way more to it. All of these guys are mondo talented and the same “holes” in their games last year. That can’t be it
