Is Willie Cauley-Stein still an option at center for Sacramento Kings?

I’m actually a bit relieved as I thought there was a chance the center market may evaporate with centers going elsewhere and then we fall back on WCS.

Dave tweeted this:

Out of that list, I’d like Adams, Dedmon or Boogie.
Adams and Boogie should be our only options. Adams cause he’s the best even in a trade he’s kill it here. Boogie cause it would be poetic for him to comeback here and win even though he’s a shell of himself.

Just the small seed of hope being planted that Boogie maybe has a tiny chance of returning here has me giddy inside. Lol

FG% with Willie isn’t fair. Dude can’t score unless set up right on the basket. He’s in no way a threat and teams used it against us.

For example Say Boogie shoots ~45%, it’s a worse percentage but at least teams have to be honest with him which would open stuff up for others.
He was a threat in his own way, you had to cover him when he rolls giving up the floater, you had to run with him on fast break, etc.. he also cut off many a drive on the perimeter, and he was NOT a bad rebounder in my book. I think he will be even better this year. But I guess he is gone now and the FO has to figure out how to get us a Center.

The C to play with Bagley needs to be a rim protector and a floor stretcher. Thats what would maximize Bagley's gifts.
Because willie's career 22% from downtown does exactly that?
Or is it the 0.6 blocks per game that impresses you? You defeated your own argument twice.

I’ll give him his perimeter defense. But for every perimeter play he made, there were multiple interior drives he just watched.

He has positives. He (still) has hypothetical big upside. But he has glaring glaring weaknesses as well, and I’m just done with them after all these seasons.

WCS was not a good fit with Bagley either, but I don't see us getting the floor strecther / shot blocker that does not give up too much in what were WCS's strengths.

and he did shoot 50% from three last year ;)

The only problem I have is now that the info is out publicly, his trade value (however low u might think it is) is going down if we were to try a sign and trade.

Boy howdy. Imagine going from the intangibles Horford brings to those that Willie does (or doesn’t)
Why'd u let that big back u to the rim willie?
Why'd u jack up that 16 ft airball willie?
Why'd u leave the court before the half willie?

Yeah I can see how much we give up.

Looking forward to our new 3 pt shooting, shot blocking, 12+ rebounding machine center.... and all the "praise" coming his way next season...
It’s effort my dude. If Willie appeared to be trying at all times his faults would be much more forgiven.

I’ll take a less talented less athletic dude who’s out there scrapping every single night over Willie’s flash and empty potential.

I bet this is more about Willie not wanting to be a restricted FA then wanting to leave the Kings.

Either way, there have been worse Kings (I'm talking to you, Spencer). Thanks for the memories.

Bags, a rookie in an unsteady role, grabbed a reb every 3.32 min
Willie lazy-stein in his rookie year a reb every 4.03 min.

Willies rebounding is not that great. Bagley rebounded at a very similar rate to willie in his fourth year, a contract year, with a steady role.

He’ll get 20/10 on us then get 4/2 the next night. That’s the type of player he is. He lacks motivation and seemingly doesn’t care that much about basketball. When he plays with motivation, though, he can be great.
that would imply he has 2 rebound games often. he pulled down less than 4 rebounds 3 times last season playing 7, 12, 17 minutes in those games. I don't think he is as inconsistent as people think.
