Zach Lowe dumps on Kings - in other news, water is wet

He’s got something personal against Vlade. Lowe never stops talking about how much time he spends in Croatia (his wife is from Croatia) and how he speaks Serbian and Croatian, and yet he has never even attempted to interview the first Serbian born front office. It’s very curious.
I wanted Luka, but it’s not a LOL KANGZ moment. Two other teams passed on Luka, and every other team in the top ten could have traded up for him and didn’t...all the Hawks got was a 2019 top-5 protected, and next year’s draft is trash. TTP was fun, but Bagley is a great prospect too. Not rock bottom by any means. It may still cost Vlade his job, down the road, but I’m not going to be mad about having Bagley on the team.

I disagree with the Bagley thing being rock bottom. He was top 3 in every draft board and mock draft in the country. Now because the kings took him all of a sudden he was a reach at 2 and we messed up. Me thinks the media would've done this no matter who we took.

Lowe has had it out for the Kings for years. It's a shame because a lot of his work actually is good. Unfortunately he combines that with taking the easy clicks and far too often uses the whole "Kangz" thing, even when unnecessary.
I wanted Doncic. But Bagley is abslutely not a reach. Bagley had a strong claim for number 2 despite the narrative.
Rock bottom for kings fans was the abysmal, disgraceful Cousins trade. Nobody will convince me otherwise. The draft was not even in the same atmosphere as that. No need to pile on when we haven't done anything crazy.
If he's referring only to Vlades comments post-draft, then I can't disagree too much. I stayed out of that whole debate, but Vlades comments were silly, at best. But hardly worth crying over.

I did not listen to any of my normal nba podcasts after the draft. It was clear leading up to the draft that any pick other than Doncic was going to be mocked mercilessly — and had they picked Luka the narrative was going to be “how long do we let Luka play there before the KANGZ destroy his career”. Look, it’s the same thing as the Bilas twitter fight....we all know things are much better the last couple years (regardless of whether you agree with every move), but the national media has the narrative that is absolutely not going to change until they win. Vlade deserves some flack, but to kill him over the “super team” comment is just silly. He was obviously being playful.

Let's go win some games next year. This upcoming season is the time to get the engine running. No need to rush to find an additional SF either even if JJ is or isn't the long term starter let's get him plenty of burn to see what we got and use Temple and Shumpert as reserves. Let's shut them up no shortcuts only hard work.
Zach Lowe has no business talking basketball. I truly wish Bricklayer were here to remind us of how many times the little weasel has been proven to be wrong, has talked out of his arse, etc. I don't care if the national media bashes us - we've endured for so long now I'd probably actually miss it if they stopped. What I do care about, however, is integrity in sports and Zach Lowe has NONE. I could name at least a dozen members of this forum right off the top of my head who could put him to shame without blinking an eye.
I like his writing and feel like he generally knows the NBA better than other commentators (....eh hmmm...Hamm) and has some interesting things to say. I just think he’s lazy when it comes to the Kings and the bottom half of the league. I can’t really fault him there, however, it’s the pot shots that in my opinion are unnecessary and leave a real bad taste.
Slightly off-topic, but this kind of reminds me of Jose Mourinho, one of the more famous soccer managers in the world. Often employ the same tactics...
