If we trade Cousins, what about a Zach LaVine centered trade? I don't know if Minnesota does that, but a KAT-Cousins frontcourt HAS to interest them right?

DeMarcus Cousins+ Ben McLemore for Zach LaVine+ 2017 1st round pick+Pekovic(filler and mentor for Papa)

Zach LaVine is a potential star in the making. Elite 3pt shooter who's continually improving on his handles. His basketball IQ went from extremely questionable, to above average. He's an extremely athletic and quick player.

Do you guys think Minnesota would consider a Cousins trade? They have a young core who can grow together in Dunn, LaVine, Wiggins, and KAT. But pairing up Cousins next to KAT has to cross their mind right?
Lavine and a 1st is not happening Vlade better push for Wiggins and a 1st. And would Thibs do this cause a KAT/DMC pairing will result in rings. Yes plural. And I just realized about DMC and Thibs relationship from the olympics and DMC ties to KAT. Love Wiggins and a 5-8 2917 1st over any other deal.

You'd want Dunn, a first and either Lavine or Wiggins. Just Lavine and the first isn't enough and we could get more from Boston.

I don't know if we'd get Dunn back, but we'd probably get Rubio back. Keep in mind, the T-Wolves have 0 reason to go after Cousins. It would most likely be Vlade coming in and trying to offer Cousins for a building block. The T-Wolves are already set for their franchise with Dunn-LaVine-Wiggins-Dieng-KAT. All of those guys except Dieng, are 22 or younger. Right now, Cuz is a hundreds years ahead of LaVine, but LaVine has lots of potential to blossom and grow as much as Cuz has. He's one of the most promising SGs in the NBA right now, head to head with Booker.

In regards to Celts trade,
LaVine has allstar/superstar potential, and he's already received great development for 2-3 years now. Jaylen Brown also has allstar potential, but he's only a rookie who's extremely raw. Whoever is in charge of the Kings' player development has been horrible. I'd rather take a sure-fire star in LaVine who we know 100% for sure won't bust. He's a proven NBA player. It just feels a lot more safe. I'd rather have LaVine+ the 18th pick over Jaylen Brown+5th pick.

I don't think I'm overrating LaVine. I was extremely 100% wrong about him. I thought he would bust in the NBA because he was way too raw, had low bball IQ, shaky handles, and didn't know how to get into the paint. He's an elite talent who unfortunately just has a title of a dunker. He's much more than that.

I doubt Minnesota gives up both Wiggins and a 1st round pick. You have to remember that Cousins is essentially an expiring contract. He's also already 26, while KAT is only 21. As I said just above this reply, Minnesota isn't desperate to pair Cousins and KAT together. They're satisfied with their young and talented core. It's more about the Kings trying to go after a proven young player who has an elite ceiling over an unknown draftpick, or an extremely talented, but raw player.

I think the next biggest need would come down to PG, where I think the Kings would need to tank to get someone like Lonzo Ball to pair next to LaVine.

That would be pretty sweet of us to gift Minny multiple championships and all. Great friends that we are.

Ibaka seems to be in decline which begs the question is he actually 27? He might be older than what is reported. There's also the concern that Ibaka could very well walk next year for nothing and we're left with neither Ibaka or Cauley-Stein.

There's no doubt in my mind that this trade would make us a better team this year, but it's definitely risky as we could easily be bleeding talent next year.

PG - Collison (32 min) / Temple (16 min) / Lawson
SG - Temple (10 min) / Afflalo (28 min) / Barnes (10 min) / McLemore
SF - Gay (34 min) / Barnes (14 min) / Richardson
PF - Ibaka (28 min) / Casspi (20 min) / Labissiere
C - Cousins (34 min) / Koufos (14 min) / Papagiannis

Cousins - 34 min
Gay - 34 min
Collison - 32 min
Afflalo - 28 min
Ibaka - 28 min
Temple - 26 min
Barnes - 24 min
Casspi - 20 min
Koufos - 14 min

It's definitely an interesting idea...
While I would like Ibaka on the team the guy was never really that good despite his numbers, when I first joined the forum I argued he was nothing more than a slightly above average starter and playing with KD/WB just made him look like a god, also his defense was grossly overrated he was always a poor man to man defender with elite shot blocking. The guy never had any post game and never made anything other than open dunks/mid range jumpers and his other skills like passing/dribbling were non existent. He's a decent role player but as soon as KD/WB left or one was out of the line up he was just another guy rather than a supposed up and coming allstar. You could have imo replaced Serge with Taj Gibson ( who imo is/was a way better defender) and he would have looked even better any decent PF who can hit the mid range J would look like a beast in that system next to KD/WB.

Ibaka was never a true 3rd option due to his inability to do anything without being spoon feed and that pretty much held the Thunder back from beating the likes of Miami and whoever else they lost to in a very successful run.

Yes, let's trade Cuz for a second round pick, 5 bottles of beer and a 20% discount at Walmart.

Oh no, maybe I'm overvaluing him. 3 beers sounds more fair.
We are not getting Dunn added to it. Wiggins and a 2017 1st (4-8) in a deep draft is good value DMC can opt out.

Don't be silly. You know my point. All this talk about Wiggins, Dunn, etc. isn't gonna happen. Nobody is going to trade that kind of talent for a volatile personality like Cuz.
It's not the personality part it's the contract part. Either way we ain't getting Wiggins let alone something added to it

What do you guys think of this deal?

Win for all?

Sac - John Wall, Andre Roberson
OKC - Gay, Gortat, DC7
Was - Kanter, Payne, Singler, Papagiannis

OKC get Rudy, wizards look like they're ready to blow things up and rebuild with young talent and we get Boogies closest friends to pair with him.

Win for all teams.

I doubt the Wizards would even remotely consider that.

No way is Minny trading us Wiggins for Cousins....let alone trading Wiggins+Dunn+1st round pick. My trade proposal wasn't all that bad.......

Washington doesn't benefit from this trade. If Payne was a better player, I could see them being interested. But Payne is still unproven, and he's injured. I guess I could turn the tables around and ask you, would you take Kanter, Payne, and Singler for Cousins?

Wall is more valuable than Cousins right now too. He's a FA in 2019, Cuz is a FA in 2018.

Probably should have posted this idea in this thread to begin with, but just an idea how we could potentially maximize our team this year:

BOS Gets: Willie Cauley-Stein & Omri Casspi
BOS Gives: Terry Rozier & Kelly Olynyk

MIA Gets: Terry Rozier, Kelly Olynyk, & Ben McLemore
MIA Gives: Goran Dragic

SAC Gets: Goran Dragic
SAC Gives: Willie Cauley-Stein, Ben McLemore, & Omri Casspi

Boston adds a athletic big that would theoretically pairs nicely with Horford (and Stevens would probably be able to get a lot out of him). Casspi gives them a good shooting option at SF for this season.
Miami pushes forward with the rebuild and acquires a promising young PG, a stretch big that complements Whiteside well, and McLemore who has been showing signs of life this year.
Sacramento cashes in on some of their depth and youth to get another go-to scorer (while pushing Collison to the bench as our 6th man)

If we made this trade, I'd want us to also make this trade with Chicago:

CHI Gets: Anthony Tolliver & SAC 2017 1st Protection Lowered to Top 7 (Chicago would get the worse of the SAC/PHI 1st rounder if pick falls between 8-10)
CHI Gives: Taj Gibson

SAC Gets: Taj Gibson
SAC Gives: Anthony Tolliver & SAC 2017 1st Protection Lowered to Top 7 (Chicago would get the worse of the SAC/PHI 1st rounder if pick falls between 8-10)

Chicago makes space for it's young PFs (Mirotic, Portis) while also helping the spacing considering Mirotic, Portis, McDermott, & Tolliver can all hit from 3 (which will come in handy with Rondo/Wade/Butler at PG/SG/SF). Meanwhile, they increase their odds that the 1st round pick is conveyed next year.
Sacramento acquires a starting level PF that complements Cousins and pushes him back to C.

We'd then have this roster:

PG - Dragic (20 min) / Collison (28 min) / Lawson
SG - Afflalo (26 min) / Dragic (12 min) / Temple (10 min) / Richardson
SF - Gay (34 min) / Temple (14 min)
PF - Gibson (28 min) / Barnes (20 min) / Labissiere
C - Cousins (34 min) / Koufos (14 min) / Papagiannis

Cousins - 34 min
Gay - 34 min
Dragic - 32 min
Collison - 28 min
Gibson - 28 min
Afflalo - 26 min
Temple - 24 min
Barnes - 20 min
Koufos - 14 min

The addition of Dragic should give us plenty of scoring and allow us to not be so reliant on Cousins & Gay each and every game. It would also give us a great 6th man option in Collison to bring the scoring behind our 3 main scorers (Cousins/Gay/Dragic). Gibson would also allow Cousins to move back to his natural position while also providing good defense at PF and spacing on offense. It would definitely be an "all-in" type of move, but I'd find it hard to believe that Joerger could not turn that roster into a playoff team.

That starting lineup has all positive On/Off numbers right now as well:
Dragic = +5.7
Afflalo = +9.0
Gay = +23.2
Gibson = +3.6
Cousins = +12.9

Don't be silly. You know my point. All this talk about Wiggins, Dunn, etc. isn't gonna happen. Nobody is going to trade that kind of talent for a volatile personality like Cuz.
It's much more likely that the trade would look something like this if we were sending Cousins to the Wolves considering they can't give up a 2017 1st without getting one back:

CHI Get: Rudy Gay & Darren Collison
CHI Give: Rajon Rondo, Bobby Portis, & CHI 2017 1st

MIN Get: DeMarcus Cousins, Omri Casspi, & CHI 2017 1st
MIN Give: Andrew Wiggins, Nikola Pekovic, & MIN 2017 1st

SAC Get: Andrew Wiggins, Nikola Pekovic, Rajon Rondo, Bobby Portis, & MIN 2017 1st
SAC Give: DeMarcus Cousins, Omri Casspi, Rudy Gay, & Darren Collison

  • Chicago gives up on the Rondo experiment and bring in a PG that would be a grerat complement to Wade & Butler while also acquiring a super sixth man in Gay who can play at SF & PF for them.
  • Minnesota get their twin towers moving forward with Dunn & LaVine as the future perimeter threats to help space the floor (Cousins loves Thibs too). Casspi is a stopgap SF that can further space the floor. The Wolves could have about $30 mil in cap space next year to pursue their SF of the future (Hayward, Porter?)
  • Kings get their new franchise piece, a promising PF, & another 2017 1st to add more talent (Bogdanovic, Richardson, Wiggins, Portis, Labissiere, Cauley-Stein, Papagiannis, SAC 2017 1st, & MIN 2017 1st would be their assets next year)
CHI New Roster
PG - Collison / Canaan / Grant / Carter-Williams
SG - Wade / Valentine / Hunter
SF - Butler / Gay / Zipser
PF - Gibson / Mirotic / McDermott
C - Lopez / Felicio

MIN New Roster
PG - Rubio / Dunn / Jones / Lucas
SG - LaVine / Rush
SF - Muhammad / Casspi
PF - Towns / Dieng / Bjelica / Payne
C - Cousins / Aldrich / Hill

SAC New Roster
PG - Rondo / Temple / Lawson
SG - Afflalo / McLemore / Richardson
SF - Wiggins / Barnes
PF - Portis / Labissiere / Tolliver
C - Koufos / Cauley-Stein / Papagiannis

Not sure why the hell the Wizards do that deal and the Kings'd really miss Rudy's scoring but

Boogie
Kosta
Barnes
Roberson
Wall

would be absolutely scary defensively.

If we are indeed adamant in continuing down the road of two big man lineups, I don't understand, why we aren't taking a serious look at Dmo's back (10 games in and still no agreement with the Rockets offering 7/year). Nobody is scared by a DMC+KK or DMC+Willie lineup, because you can easily clog the paint and render DMC's strength advantage useless by making him a jumpshooter. With Dmo we would have something very similar to the Grizzlies minus the perimeter defense. Two bigs, who at least need to be guarded outside the paint and two bigs, who can post up smaller defenders. Somewhat slow and unathletic, but that's the case with our current lineup too. At least we would have an actual advantage by playing big on offense.
With our current guard lineup another player, who can create offense from inside out shouldn't be a bad thing.
It's either that, or hope for a dominant guard to pair with DMC, meaning you are basically giving the keys to the offense to the guard and use DMC as a luxury version of Drummond.

Rockets are looking decent right now and don't really need Dmo with Anderson, already in place. While technically still a restricted FA I doubt the Rockets want to spend money on him and with his health in question, this looks like a good opportunity to maybe sign him to a short term deal.
Not much to lose in that case, because our roster will be completely changed in a year from now and a short term "prove that you can stay on the court" deal would fit right in.

Would Kings consider Cousins and Porzingis + filler (Courtney Lee) swap? At least Kings get something in return and not wait for him to just walk when his contract expires. Knicks would be in a win now mode with Anthony and Cousins.

Kings would do that absolutely but Phil would be run out of town if he ever traded Porzingis, kid has the potential to be a Dirk type centerpiece for 20 years.

looks like the Rudy Gay trade talks are back. I'd do Payne and Morrow for Rudy. Payne is a young PG Joerger can groom and would cut Lawson. Morrow would be a 3 PT specialist to help space the floor. Start the rebuild process now and get some assets before Rudy leaves in FA.

Aight our only chance to get a Timberwolve like deal is with Nee Orleans. I got this idea with a bleacher report article that had them proposing Hield/ 2 1st ts picks.

So we'd have to hope NO is a bottom 5 team and than they get lucky and win the lottery. Now with them having AD I'm sure they'd be a win now mode and pairing AD/Boogie gives them the best front court maybe in history. Than they can sign role players to fill in and bam there instant title contenders next year. For us we'd get Hield/ the number 1 pick and chose between Faultz and Dennis Smith giving us an exciting backcourt.

What's so great about Payne though? Isn't he also injured?

I'm not a big Payne fan but I think he's a guy that can at least become a good backup as his floor and a serviceable starter as his ceiling. The Kings aren't going to get a lot of great offers for Rudy so I'd take a chance on a young player that has room to grow.

Sadly, time to look at possible Casspi trade ideas.

My first suggestion is a trade with the Pacers for Lavoy Allen. Lavoy is a un-exciting but hard-working PF that fit in along Paul George last year when they went small ball. He'll not wow you, but he can be effective if he's just asked to do dirty work.

Lavoy lost his starting job when Myles Turner exploded and his minutes are down this year. His drawbacks are that his offense isn't consistent, can struggle at the rim in crowded lanes, and dirtywork/hustle isn't good enough to call him a glue guy. Shot only extends to the high post as well.

Sounds a lot like Casspi already.
