You know, apropos nothing, I can't help but feel sorry for those few people around here who are so consumed with their hatred of Demarcus Cousins that they cannot take a moment to enjoy this bright moment in Kings history. We have everything to look forward to right now...and I, for one, am beyond grateful that Vlade has done so much to restore my faith in all things Kings. It is a good time to be a Kings fan and I'm not going to let a few naysayers ruin it.

The last time around went by all too quickly. If I could give one piece of advice to newer Kings fans it would be to enjoy this time to its fullest extent. You never know when it could all end.

I am ready to roll with the new coach and DMC and see how it shakes out but I'm just a little bit of a pessimist when it comes to DeMarcus. He's just let me down too many times! Sorry VF!

I'd say that the organization has let him down more than he has let them down, but that's in the past. You can't say Vlade hasn't done everything in his power to create a winner around DMC. Let's see what the draft/free agency does, and then judge him at the end of this year. This will be the first year that everyone on board is (theoretically) moving in the same direction. FO, coaches, players.

Yeah, the idea that the best player in our history since C-Webb, who has been stupidly loyal to the organisation despite constant instability and terrible personnel decisions, has let a fan down is pretty hilarious. And a testament to the sheer delusion of some of the fanbase.

Reminds me of how the fans ran Shaq out of Orlando in the mid 90's. Thought he wasn't worth the $100 mil they were giving to big men back then. Did the same to Dwight. Something about small market teams running their stars out of town.

You have stumbled across exactly the point.

There is absolutely no way a coach of Joerger's stature chooses a Sacto rebuild over other team's with established stars. None. We would have been lucky to get a top assistant willing to be a sacrificial lamb to our newest rebuild.

You come because we have a superstar too, one built along the same lines as the guys you have already coached. A Sacto rebuild is the worst situation in the NBA.
Look, I'm not arguing that DeMarcus was one of the main reasons he chose to come here. However, we will have to agree to disagree on DeMarcus being the ONLY reason he chose to come here. Vlade I'm sure played a huge part in this, I'm sure Joerger was fully aware of the incompetence that's been going on here before and after Vivek.

No problem. I wasn't really including you in the group that just doesn't seem to want to even consider the possibility that things could all work out.

The "in or out" comment is for everyone. Guys like Marco and Rudy did not enjoy the situation this year. Rudy's been questioning being here since they fired Malone weeks after resigning to a contract to stay in Sac. Marco was misused, had a terrible year, took a lot of heat and did not enjoy the atmosphere. I really doubt Seth had any intention to stay here if Karl was still around. Caron Butler is another guy brought in for leadership but who felt misused.

So a lot of guys were pondering non-Sacto situations. The "in or out" is a question about whether the politics of the last year was too much for some players to stick around and commit to Joeger, to defense and a different approach.

You know, I have mixed emotions about this thing. First, this is an open forum for opinion, and being so, there are going to be opinions we don't agree with. What I don't like, is when the majority try to shout down the minority opinion. There's also collateral damage. I've had my moments where I've been very critical of some of the things that Cousins has done, and I think he deserves some of that criticism. However, I haven't advocated trading him. I've discussed what we might get back in a trade in the event the organization decides to go in a different direction, but that doesn't mean I want him to be traded. It means I'm aware that it's something that could happen. It's a business, and I think Cousins knows that as well. But I feel as though your remarks are directed at me as well. Thus the collateral damage.

Right now, I'm feeling very happy with current events. I listened to Joerger on the morning show with Carmichael Dave this morning, and became even more impressed with him. He appears to have started a good relationship with Cousins, who apparently flew to Sacramento on his own, with no request he do so by the organization. A class move by Cousins. Then I come to this thread, and become depressed, and after reading some of your remarks, I feel as though I'm supposed to go sit in my corner and keep my mouth shut. Perhaps I'm misreading you. I know your a positive person. So am I. But I can't look the other way when someone does something wrong, even if that person is my favorite player. There has to be some middle ground for dissent. So if I'm wrong minded here, I apologize! But I refuse to keep my mouth shut when I see something that I think needs to be addressed. Of course, I always welcome your opinion, even if you disagree. None of this is personal folks.

Yeah, I think the in or out comment was pretty clear. Your either part of the problem, or part of the solution. The former will be shown the door.

Nope. My comments were not directed at you. I'm not going to name names but I'm not going to refrain from making them either.
I just want to mention that last summer the environment around here was also optimistic and we were pretty much a lock to make the playoffs according to popular opinion, Belinelli was a proven champion, KK was a perfect fit, Rondo was a great defender, the media was clearly wrong about underestimating us and the trade with the 76ers was the best thing ever... a year have passed and pretty much everything on that list (other than the 76ers trade who still have most people backing) was proven wrong.

Now I'm much more optimistic about next season- from what I've read Catanella looks like a solid hire and I really like that we got Joerger as coach- pretty much the best case scenario in my book.
But I'm not going to blame people who are less optimistic than I am- after all if this forum was just people agreeing about Cousins being awesome it would be pretty damn boring.

As one who was in the very optimistic camp, last year was especially brutal, because most of the things you listed were, in fact, true. They still ARE true. I didn't expect the worst coaching job since the Dick Motta days, so I admit to being blindsided by that. However, this has a totally different feel to it. The atmosphere/attitude has already changed. You can feel it.

A lot of the positive mood at the start of last season was to do with the belief that given the roster Vlade assembled, that Karl will play to that roster. One bad season for the players that you have mentioned does not make them all of a sudden bad recruits. A lot of the players were misused last year. I almost wish we come back with the same squad with a minor upgrade at SG so that these sort of comments can be blown out of the water. If you think Joerger would not coach to this roster then you are deluded. He would use kosta for what he is. Marco for what he is, Rodno would look infinitely better defensively in a defensive scheme that is relevant in today's NBA.

A lot of our "misfits are due to the way they were coaches and not because they suck. Look at this roster and compare it to Memphis'. It's a very similarly structured roster. Do you think Joerger would be #1 in pace with this roster? PLEASE!

I agree with most of it, that's why I said I'm optimistic about next season.
Without getting into detail I do think KK is a bad fit next to Cuz/WCS and that Rondo defense is far worse than the way most people describes it to start the season. And people here laughed about our win projections which turned out to be very close to the truth.

The point I made was that just because the majority of the board think something doesn't make it true.

The roster is still very solid and should have been at least a .500 team.

No one expected Karl to be as washed up as he was.
