While stranger things have happened, I'm just looking at Gasol's track record. If he wasn't putting up all star numbers, I'd say we have a shot at getting him back and mentoring the young guys. Like KG, when he realized he could no longer contribute he went to help mentor players and get a paycheck.
Anyways, 3 minutes to the deadline, looks like we caused ruckus over nothing.
He went back to where most of his career was. Where he first started. Where he became a superstar. Where he has friends in the organization. That's why. What's Pau's connection to Sac? Absolutely nothing.
Looks like crisis has been averted. Deadline has passed. Wish we could have moved Rudy for something, but thankfully that something wasn't Pau and Snell.
Let's hope Mike Ortiz Jr is just trying to get clicks and followers. Sounds like a terrible trade unless other valuable pieces from the Bulls are coming to us.
So nothing. lol
****ing hell, this team is the worst.
Is there a bigger glaring weakness in the entire league than Sacramento's perimeter defense?! Seriously.
So it looks like Kings did nothing - including moving the disgruntled Gay, McLemore, or even Butler. Seems we've managed to add more chaos and negativity to an already troublesome season. Should be fun to watch.
We did it guys! We held on to all of our wonderful assets!!!
I'll grab the mop. Wouldn't want anyone to slip on all those tears shed over the possibility of losing Ben McLemore. What would this team do without his potential?

Is doing nothing right now really the worst thing we could have done? The team is in the process of looking for a GM and head coach. Perimeter defense is a huge concern, but i for one think that the system is more important than the individual players. We need a new system first before we decide which players fit best. I would have welcomed some defensive moves today, but the playoffs are a long shot this season anyways, it may be smarter just to stay put.

There is always the offseason to move those players who don't want to be here. Plus, I don't get the sense that those players are as disgruntled as a random tweet would have us believe. Butler, if I recall, was one of the players who disputed the idea that Karl had optional practices or that only 3-4 people showed up.
Between proposed trades that didn't happen and threatened firings that didn't happen pretty sure this group will be go through the motions the next 29 games. When you have 3-4 guys looking to greener pastures (allegedly) and a head coach everyone knows is on his way out that's not exactly an environment conducive to winning.
I hoped Vlade could have at least swung a deal for Snell or Shumpert to give us some hope on the perimeter by pawning off Koufos or Marco. Instead we are left with this uninspiring group of underachievers. If we come out of the break and play like we did before it....this team will be holding on to its 2016 pick which I would hope we trade. That's the only silver liming I can think of.
I guess also no trade to upgrade the team increases Karl is gone since only a dramatic turnaround could save his job. I really wonder what the Bulls wanted to make a deal because it seems like they were just playing games all along trying to steal players for nothing and play Vlade for a fool.
Pretty slim odds of them not making it, but I guess hope springs eternal. If they win 10 games and lose 19 the rest of the season, they'll end up at 41 and 41. For us to tie them, we would have to win 19, and lose 10. What are the odd's of us doing that based on what we've seen so far. Catching either Portland or Utah is more resaonable, but if they just play 500 basketball the rest of the way, once again we would have to go 19/10 to tie them. When you have to catch and climb over more than one team, it gets a lot harder.
Some of this is unsubstantiated rumor (Darren Collison already denied the report that said he wanted out) but I suspect George Karl is the main issue for all of them. Rudy Gay was happy to be here last year up until we pulled the rug out from under him and the rest of the team with the Malone firing. Caron Butler looked happy to be a Sacramento King in the off-season. Ben didn't seem to have a problem until Marco got all of his minutes despite doing nothing to earn them. If George Karl has got 1/3 of the team asking out after half a season, the question remains why is he still here?

Possibly viewed as the lesser of two evils. Can him with nothing lined up and possibly have a repeat of the disaster of last year? All the while continuing the story line of a franchise in disarray.
Or. Let the season play out. Get a GM "assistant" and then do a proper coaching search.

Probably (1) Lieberman and Corliss as interim coaches would have been in over their heads per estimation of our GM (2) hiring new (right) coach on fly on down low this time of year is no easy task and (3) paying three coaches for one job was scoffed at by minority owners and (4) giving players another cop-out for their failure sets bad precedent and (5) Karl was not going to agree to a buyout and (7) getting the right coach this summer will be easier because we can say we gave Karl a full season to work his "magic" and (8) Boogie did not push for his dismissal.
And maybe Vlade was banking on a trade to help his head coach to solve perimeter defense and SG woes. Only portion of the blame albeit large was placed at his feet given roster weakness. Basically we could have and should have fired him but he got an 11th hour reprieve. Today was more bad news for Karl regardless of how he tries to play it to the media. He needed help through infusion of talent and he didn't get it.
I don't mind if they fire Vlade at season's end. I feel taken hook line and sinker by the guy. Wonder if Caron & Ben feel the same. Rudy? George? The guys on George's staff who haven't been whacked out from under him yet? The other players who, along with the fans, have been given the finger (yet again) and told to suck it up for 29 more futile games?
On Vlade's watch. This is his.
Bummer. So funny to think back when the 31 game over/under looked like such easy money for gamblers.
I'm a Kings fan - I will go to the games and enjoy watching the ballplayers play ball. But this franchise just completely blows. Great job Vivek going into the new arena on any kind of a high note. Thank God... thank the good God almighty... that nobody had to buy PSL's (although I guess the poor club guys had to commit to 3 or 5 years).
No way this team makes the playoffs. .500 is going to be needed to be at least the 8th seed. This team isn't good enough to overcome being 9 games under .500.
