Kings trade JT, Nik and Landry to Sixers (renamed)

Why does everyone think Philly will suck for the next two years? They have something we don't; assets and a crapload of talent. They can unload at a moment's notice and win more games than us EASILY. If even one or two of their guys develops, they can easily compile a team around them. We can't do anything.

Philly was losing this year because they WANTED to. Vivek tried his pathetic hardest to win this year. Huge difference.
Oh please. we've seen this before

a bunch of young players that have yet to win a damn things, guarantees you NOTHING

I don't like the trade and we did get ripped off by the 76ers.

I get that you like to think that the whole world is out to get you, and that ESPN and Woj has nothing better to do than rip our franchise, but they are kind of making good points and there is a reason why almost every writer rated this a F for the Kings and an A for Philly.

We overpaid for a salary dump to create cap space, which by reports we are going to spend on incredibly high risk players we have no guarantee of getting. you can call that genius if you want to, but I disagree.

The fact is that there is a game of chess going on and we are the ones playing checkers. not every move should be instantly applauded because Vlade was the guy who made it.
No, the fact is that we have been slowly losing our game of chess, were down multiple pieces, and it came time for a gambit.

When you are playing a game and losing, then change the rules of the game. We just did. Fact is nobody had a realistic way we could definitely make the sort of jump we had to take. So most people were just going to complain and kind of quit and oh well maybe it all comes together some magical how, or maybe we have to rebuild again oh shucks. But nobody who wasn't deluded was looking at our "assets" and all our holes and saying we could really do anything dramatic enough to definitely turn things. So we were all aiming for, well, maybe if WCS pans out and maybe...we can get around .500 and maybe...

And Vlade said f that and changed our whole circumstances and opened up real possibilities for us. There is a time to be bold, always. Everytime you win at anything, there is always one key moment or move you make where you step out, do something out of the ordinary and change the game in your favor. And if you are just solid from that point on, you've in good shape and can run with it all the way home. We had no way to achieve what we needed to do. Now we MIGHT have a way to achieve it. Take that everytime.

Yup we're all freakin in from here on out. Feast or famine.

It was a risk we didn't necessarily had to take,

let's say you like a painting, you really- really do. It's market price is 100$, and you pay 500$ for it. you are still happy, but you got played.

That's what just happened, the 76ers just pulled a heist on our pretty dumb/ well-intentioned front office, and we gave up way too much to clear cap space.
whats the "Way too much" we gave up? are you guys serious

now everyone's in love with JT and Landry? please

JT- I love that the narrative on JT changed the second we traded him.
The narrative on Thompson hasn't changed; you need to get your perception recalibrated. The people have been complimentary of Thompson last night and this morning have been entirely consistent with their sentiment about Thompson for some time. Nobody has 'flipped', in the wake of the trade.

Vlade made dumb rookie moves, here I said it...

You are acting like a salary dump is a new invention by us... you are the one who talked about how destructive the Chicago deal really was- making as unable to make trades. now that we came close to recovering from it we locked ourselves up for more of that...

What we did this summer, is do the right move in a dumb way. we could have drafted Mudiay and traded him for WCS and extras (he was going to fall outside the top 10) and instead we just went in and got him- that's dumb.

We could have waited till we have something in our hands to do that trade, but we didn't- and now that Monta is out of the picture, not only Matthews know we have no others choice, he knows exactly how much we can offer him- that's dumb.

We traded to guys with positive trade value together with a future 1st rounders and pick swaps just to get rid of Landry's contract- that's dumb.

I'm sorry, but I just can't get in line with the thinking of- "because something good may come of it, it's a good move", even if it will turn out to be good it could've been better and our team as such little good that every thing we give up on has a huge impact.

Lol the "real possibilities" of signing Rondo at 1 year for $18 million and praying that he plays well and doesn't murder George Karl or tossing a bucket of cash at Wes Matthews and praying that he can still walk.

AND we dumped a starter, a rotation player, and a 3 picks. Hooray

I think it's too bad we had to trade JT, because he went through a lot with the Kings. But the fact is that is not a top-tier talent...he's a serviceable player who has done solid work for the team for a long time. I agree wholeheartedly with Brick and others: we had to do something. Yes, this might blow up in our faces, but I'd rather take a gamble and see what happens than just be mediocre-to-bad forever. Screw that.

The 1st round draft pick/right to swap/Stauskas is the "way too much" most of us are referring to. Then we're going to use that money we just saved to make a monster offer to a guy coming off of an Achilles injury.

JT was serviceable. Someone might take a gamble on Stauskas. Our first round pick is very valuable given our status in the league. Don't you think we could have used that as a trade for someone? And we gave all that up to dump some salary so we can overpay some free agent.

Meh......this is a consistent 29 win team. The moves you just suggested have been in line with what's gotten us 29 wins.....and why hasn't JT been traded previously with his positive trade value? Philly wanted to get Stuaskas for 2nd round picks during the draft. Your way overvaluing these guys.

I'm sorry, but how do you know that? Because one week before the draft, a few mock drafts moved him down their boards because they suddenly "discovered" (or remembered) his injury as a sophmore? 2 weeks before the draft he was being mocked to the Knicks and the Magic and everyone was worried he wouldn't make it to 6. WCS went exactly where he was supposed to go. You saying he was going to fall outside of the top 10 doesn't make it true.

I think people would have been more receptive to this trade had it happen before June 1st. We could have been in the running for Carrol or Danny Green @ 4/60. Now we are looking at Wes at 15 per a year, which is scary considering his injury.

We didn't dump 3 picks. We gave a protected 2018 1st round pick and ONE 1st round pick swap option.

If the Bulls don't get our draft pick this year, Philly will have the option to switch with us and that's it.

It only goes to 2017 if they don't get the option to switch picks with us 2016. The bulls still have our pick top 10 protected in 2017.

Phill offering 2nds is exactly why you DONT trade him. Does "buy low, sell high" mean nothing to you? It's like if you bought some stocks and they dipped in value so you just decided to set them on fire. And give 3 first round picks to the guy who lit the match for you

We dumped nothing of any value.

And we obviously aren't paying Rondo $18mil. If it comes to that we'll just free Denver or Brooklyn of their PG contracts and move on.

But now we might be able to get Rondo for $10 given the soft market, and that gets interesting. Way more guys out there looking to get paid then teams left to pay them. Way more teams looking to save themselves from the luxury tax then there are teams to take those salaries. There are dozens of guys out there, all of them more valuable then the pile of junk we gave up here. One mediocre backup big and a draft bust does not a croodile tear warrant.

Per source, the Kings were so willing to part w/ Stauskas because Demarcus Cousins didn't get along w/ him. Kings trying to appease Cousins.

Michael K-B @therealmikekb
Per source, Cousins was very tough on Stauskas all last year. Told Kings management he wouldn't pass ball to Stauskas if on court together.

Wow.. Don't like to see that out of Cuz
Who is this guy? Never heard of him

AND we dumped a rotation player, a scrub, and one conditional future pick. Hooray
fixed it for you - you really are exaggerating quite a bit on every point

Lowe is reporting two swaps plus a first:

Per source, per source, per source....here's what my source says...Cuz was extremely hard on Nik Stauskas all year because he played like a scared puppy.

Said every fan of Jimmer for years.

We don't have time for that nonsense. This is a win now year. The difference in Stauskas value from a 4.4pt rookie year to a 7.2pt sophomore year doesn't remotely justify sitting on him when a chance to turn the corner pops up.

I had a feeling about that last year, seeing them play together. Surprised it's actually true, though
