How exactly high of a value do you think Stauskas is going to become? It was a blown draft pick.

I think people would have been more receptive to this trade had it happen before June 1st. We could have been in the running for Carrol or Danny Green @ 4/60. Now we are looking at Wes at 15 per a year, which is scary considering his injury.

4/60 is 15 per year.... Just saying. Carrol got PAID glad it wasn't us. He's not that good.

Know what I saw, Cousins repeatedly yelling at Nik on court to shoot the damn ball while Nik hesitated and curled into the fetal position.

This wasn't personal, this was Nik simply not getting it done and Cuz having no patience for it. Not a great love that Cuz thing, but also not some personal meanie poo vendetta. Do your job! We are trying to win here. Shoot the ****ing ball. And Nik couldn't take the heat. If Nik steps up, takes and makes those shots, then the entire issue wouldn't have been there. Then Nik is Cuz's rook.

You are acting like a salary dump is a new invention by us... you are the one who talked about how destructive the Chicago deal really was- making as unable to make trades. now that we came close to recovering from it we locked ourselves up for more of that...

What we did this summer, is do the right move in a dumb way. we could have drafted Mudiay and traded him for WCS and extras (he was going to fall outside the top 10) and instead we just went in and got him- that's dumb.

We could have waited till we have something in our hands to do that trade, but we didn't- and now that Monta is out of the picture, not only Matthews know we have no others choice, he knows exactly how much we can offer him- that's dumb.

We traded to guys with positive trade value together with a future 1st rounders and pick swaps just to get rid of Landry's contract- that's dumb.

I'm sorry, but I just can't get in line with the thinking of- "because something good may come of it, it's a good move", even if it will turn out to be good it could've been better and our team as such little good that every thing we give up on has a huge impact.

It's easy to criticize AFTER the fact. You had no idea cards would fall like that...

It's like me saying "you're dumb (not you personally) for not picking the lottery numbers 3,4,7,23,35,42" Vlade does not have a crystal ball.

Also, the draft picks are in 2018.. If we're still in the top 10 then, then we have a bigger issue than just draft picks.

Not to mention there are ways to get picks if we really needed to draft someone in 2018.. It's not like deals cannot be done to get a pick. Let's say we drafted some guy in 2017 that another team wanted. Trade him to the team further up for their draftee and their future pick. Bing/bang/boom We got ourselves a 2018 pick.

15mill for Green would have had to been tempting. However, I'm not so sure money would have been the ultimate factor for him. He loves SA and proved it by accepting less money to stay. I love Wes, too. I'm just concerned about him recovering from the injury, while committing a substantial amount of money to him. I hope he is signed and it all works out. Maybe he will have a Julius Erving-type of recovery.

Monroe as a sole feature should roughly double JT's numbers. Could approach a 20-10 guy if Kidd wants to lean on him heavily. That's a very good fit/pickup for the Bucks, giving them exactly what they were lacking.

He's never really approached 20/10 but sure, I'll buy that he could double Thompson's numbers as a "sole feature", even though I'm not sure what that means. Still begs a couple of questions, though:

1. You 'double' Thompson's numbers, and you get something in the neighborhood of 13/12. You paying nearly $17M a year for 13/12, with questionable defense?
2. Again, I don't know what you mean by 'sole feature', but I'm pretty sure that Monroe is not going to be sole anything in Milwaukee. Best case scenario for him is that Kidd makes him the second option, and he may be as far back as the fifth option, behind Parker, Carter-Williams, Antetekounmpo, and Middleton. Hell, I'm not convinced that he'll even start, and then what are we saying about that contract?

Unfortunately, if we are building a team around Cousins, personalities like Stauskas' just don't fit. My gripe with Cousins has always been his lack of leadership and lack of patience. We always say that coaches need to allow young players to make mistakes, well Cousins should also, but he just doesn't.

However the accusation that Cousins refused to pass the ball to Stauskas is just plain wrong in my opinion. Sure he would yell at him to shoot and he would yell at him if he missed, very hard to please to be sure, but he did pass him the ball, quite a bit from what I remember. In fact they were good for a couple of cross court passes a game.

But that was exactly my point! many teams value Mudiay highly- Denver was one of them, but other teams too. we could have made the move you just said and come at the other end with WCS and assets.
We could've constructed a better salary dump... we could've traded JT for something, we could've traded Nik for something, we could've done a lot of things but we choose the easiest solution.

It's never a good deal if you are paying the asking price...

Monroe's a lot better than all that. He's an easy and consistent 16-10 type even if he's only getting 12 shots a game. No longer sharing big man minutes and touches he could be better than that. Top 5 offensive center in the league.

And no I don't think they are going to max him just to bench him. Just a question of whether they feature him heavily, or Bill Cartwright him for the occasional post score

What a way to clean up the house in one sweep!

Simple criteria: Would the player be top 7 rotational player for the playoff team.

None of the involved Kings players fits in the above criteria for the next 2 years which is Kings time frame to do something with Cousins still here.

The only way this move does not work out is if we panic and spend money on some player that would not be top 7 rotational player on the playoff team.
Overpaying players satisfying above requirement, not spending all money ... all good.

Matthews however has the game for it. High flyers do not. Fat bigs...maybe not. Matthews doesn't depend on athleticism anyway. Spot shooting, post play, solid defense. Its the price tag that grates in this crazy market.

Every player in the NBA depends on athleticism. If you're a guard and don't have much athleticism to begin with and you lose just a tad bit of the athleticism you had, you're game could be shot. And certainly, defense depends upon athleticism.

That's not actually true. Its why some guys age better too. Reason Duncan is still rumbling along, but DeAndre will be a shell of himself in 10 years. Matthews doesn't need much explosion to do 90% of what he does. It would be foolish to expect him to be 100%, but its not as if he plays like Westbrook and every possession the lack of explosion was going to play in.

Note the word, "guards," in my post. The NBA is much less forgiving when it comes to guards losing athleticism - especially guards with not much to begin with - than bigs.
